While agricultural green development(AGD)is highly recognized and has become a national strategy in China,it is imperative to bridge the knowledge gaps between AGD and the UN sustainable development goals(SDGs),and to evaluate the contribution of AGD to meeting the SDGs.The first aim of this study was to compare the AGD goals and indicators with those of the SDGs so as to identify their relationship.The next aim was to examine the historical evolution of AGD indicators and analyze the gaps between the current status of various indicators and their benchmarks.Limiting factors were identified in China's transition toward AGD.These findings reveal that the indicators of AGD align with those of the SDGs,but have greater specificity to the context in China and are more quantifiable.There has been a significant increase per capita calorie and protein intakes in China,as well as a notable rise in agricultural output per unit of arable land and rural incomes from 1980 to the 2010s.However,these achievements have been accompanied by a high resource use and environmental pollution,highlighting the need for a more sustainable,environmentally responsible agriculture in China.

sustainable development denotes the enhancement ofliving standards in the present without compromising future generations'resources.sustainable development goals(SDGs)quantify the accomplishment of sustainable development and pave the way for a world worth living in for future generations.Scholars can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by guiding the actions of practitioners based on the analysis of SDG data,as intended by this work.We propose a framework of algorithms based on dimensionality reduction methods with the use of Hilbert Space Filling Curves(HSFCs)in order to semantically cluster new uncategorised SDG data and novel indicators,and efficiently place them in the environment of a distributed knowledge graph store.First,a framework of algorithms for insertion of new indicators and projection on the HSFC curve based on their transformer-based similarity assessment,for retrieval of indicators and loadbalancing along with an approach for data classification of entrant-indicators is described.Then,a thorough case study in a distributed knowledge graph environment experimentally evaluates our framework.The results are presented and discussed in light of theory along with the actual impact that can have for practitioners analysing SDG data,including intergovernmental organizations,government agencies and social welfare organizations.Our approach empowers SDG knowledge graphs for causal analysis,inference,and manifold interpretations of the societal implications of SDG-related actions,as data are accessed in reduced retrieval times.It facilitates quicker measurement of influence of users and communities on specific goals and serves for faster distributed knowledge matching,as semantic cohesion of data is preserved.

The existing discourses on the Russia-Ukraine war mainly focus on the humanitar-ian crisis in Ukraine and the implications for the global economy.There is a lack of policy and scholarly attention to how the war threatens the prospects for realising sustainable development goals(SDGs).Underpinned by a critical document analy-sis of secondary sources available in academic and grey literature and focusing on Africa,the article explores various global challenges ensuing from the crisis.It dem-onstrates how such challenges impact prospects for achieving SDGs in Africa.Using the first two SDGs as an example,the study found that with the disruption of the global supply chain by the war and the international sanctions imposed on Russia,Africa now experiences food commodity and energy shortages,soaring inflation,and commodity price hikes which now threatens to worsen poverty and hunger.The article recommends that Africa prioritise structural change and regional cooperation,reconsidering the global financial system and how development finance is structured and maintaining a steady commitment to building resilience.Future research could be focused on the effectiveness of non-sanctions-based conflict resolutions.

sustainable development goals(SDGs) emphasize a holistic achievement instead of cherry-picking a few.However, no assessment has quantitatively considered the evenness among all 17 goals. Here, we propose a systematic method, which first integrates both the evenness and the overall status of all goals, to distinguish the ideal development pathways from the uneven ones and then revisit the development trajectory in China from 2000 to 2015. Our results suggest that, despite the remarkable progress, a bottleneck has occurred in China since 2013 due to the stagnant developments in some SDGs. However, many far-reaching policies in China have been targeting these deficiencies since then, providing a perspective on how a country approaches sustainable development by promoting evenness among all SDGs. Our results also indicate that regions with the slowest progress are the developed provinces, owing to the persistent uneven status of all goals. Our study demonstrates the importance of adopting evenness in assessing and guiding sustainable development.

The sustainable development goals(SDGs)call for an integrated response,the kind that has defined Neglected Tropical Diseases(NTDs)efforts in the past decade.NTD interventions have the greatest relevance for SDG3,the health goal,where the focus on equity,and its commitment to reaching people in need of health services,wherever they may live and whatever their circumstances,is fundamentally aligned with the target of Universal Health Coverage.NTD interventions,however,also affect and are affected by many of the other development areas covered under the 2030 Agenda.Strategies such as mass drug administration or the programmatic integration of NTD and WASH activities(SDG6)are driven by effective global partnerships(SDG17).Intervention against the NTDs can also have an impact on poverty(SDG1)and hunger(SDG2),can improve education(SDG4),work and economic growth(SDG8),thereby reducing inequalities(SDG10).The community-led distribution of donated medicines to more than 1 billion people reinforces women’s empowerment(SDG5),logistics infrastructure(SDG9)and non-discrimination against disability(SDG16).Interventions to curb mosquito-borne NTDs contribute to the goals of urban sustainability(SDG11)and resilience to climate change(SDG13),while the safe use of insecticides supports the goal of sustainable ecosystems(SDG15).Although indirectly,interventions to control waterand animal-related NTDs can facilitate the goals of small-scale fishing(SDG14)and sustainable hydroelectricity and biofuels(SDG7).NTDs proliferate in less developed areas in countries across the income spectrum,areas where large numbers of people have little or no access to adequate health care,clean water,sanitation,housing,education,transport and information.This scoping review assesses how in this context,ending the epidemic of the NTDs can impact and improve our prospects of attaining the SDGs.

The utilization of urban underground space(UUS)offers an effective solution to urban problems but may also negatively affect urban development.Therefore,UUS development needs better concerted guidelines to coordinate various urban systems and the multiple components of the underground world.sustainable development goals(SDGs),which should be viewed as important yardsticks for UUS development,do not explicitly mention urban underground space,although many of them are affected by both the positive and negative consequences of its development.To fill this gap,this review lays the foundations of relevant UUS concepts and uses exemplary cases to reveal that 11 out of 17 SDGs can be linked with UUS uses.These linkages also manifest that land administration,integrated planning,architectural design,and construction technology are critical dimensions for increasing the contributions of UUS to the realization of SDGs.To achieve multi-disciplinary synergies among these four critical dimensions,a collaborative approach framework based on spatial data infrastructure is required.Thus,this work provides academics and practitioners with a holistic view of sustainable UUS development.

In 2015, Aotearoa New Zealand became a signatory to the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030(Sendai Framework), the Paris Climate Change Agreement(Paris Agreement), and the sustainable development goals(SDGs). Since 2017 Aotearoa New Zealand has been undergoing governance reform to realign priorities and to improve the management of natural hazards and climate change. The aim of this article is to provide a review of how Aotearoa New Zealand is taking steps to improve consistency of planning across the legislative environment, thereby implementing its commitments to the Sendai Framework, the SDGs, and the Paris Agreement. It provides an overview of the national governance arrangements, with a focus on the key legislative tools;identifies how key terms are defined nationally;and provides an overview of the governance arrangements that contribute to the country’s international obligations. The discussion describes how obligations are applied, and considers two"disruptive and proactive" action examples. Four recommended actions are provided to further implement these international aspirations:(1) take into account these international agreements during the development and implementation of all legislation;(2) build awareness, capability,and capacity within central, regional, and local governments to support implementation;(3) actively evaluate the progress of implementing initiatives designed to reduce vulnerability and strengthen resilience;and(4) ensure that more weight and value are given to indigenous planning documents.

Nigeria has Africa’s biggest economy and a population of over 200 million people.Nigeria faces numerous challenges as it struggles to achieve the sustainable development goals(SDGs)with flooding being the most serious with wide-reaching impacts.This paper highlights the impact flooding has on Nigeria reaching SDGs and enumerates the specific SDGs most directly impacted.A systematic literature review provides an overview of the relationship between flooding in Nigeria and the SDGs.It highlights the main causes of Nigeria’s flooding problem are man-made and advocates spatial planning as a suitable Flood Risk Management(FRM)strategy for the Nigerian environment.The paper calls for collaborative action by all concerned stakeholders to address the flooding problem and to help move Nigeria closer to meeting the United Nations(UN)2030 SDGs.Most importantly,the evidence presented in this paper seeks to promote action on a national scale to combat the flooding in Nigeria and help the nation work more effectively toward achieving the SDGs.

The ocean is a critical part of the global ecosystem.The marine ecosystem balance is crucial for human survival and sustainable development.However,due to the impacts of global climate change and human activities,the ocean is rapidly changing,which poses an enormous threat to human health and the econ-omy.“Conserve and sustainably use the oceans,seas and marine resources”is one of the 17 sustainable development goals(SDGs).Therefore,it is urgent to construct a transformative marine scientific solution to promote sustainable development.Marine data is the basis of ocean cognition and governance.Marine science has ush-ered in the era of big data with continuous advances in modern marine data acquisition.While big data provides a large amount of data for SDG research,it simultaneously brings unprecedented challenges.This study introduces an overall framework of a system for solving the current problems faced by marine data serving SDGs from the perspective of marine data management and application.Also,it articulates how the system helps the SDGs through two application cases of managing fragmented marine data and developing global climate change data products.

sustainable development goals (SDGs) aim to ensure environmental sustainability is enhanced focusing on the future generation. Knowledge of the SDGs becomes pivotal in biodiversity conservation thus, a gap impacts such efforts on protecting and preserving biodiversity habits difficult. Nairobi City was chosen because of her unique ecosystem that habits wildlife and urban life with great prospects of being East Africa’s business hub. With an estimated double city population by 2030, knowledge of SDGs would be useful in enhancing biodiversity conservation in unique cities like Nairobi. Thus, a gap in the knowledge of SDGs threatens the future of biodiversity unless it is mitigated. The study employed a cross-sectional design that caters to qualitative and quantitative data. Data was collected using semi-structured questionnaires and key informant interviews. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model was adopted to evaluate how determinants of human perceptions, decisions, and activities related to implementing sustainable development goals impact biodiversity conservation. Results indicate that respondents’ knowledge (30.5% ± 2.01%), attitudes (30.4% ± 1.56%), and practice (26.3% ± 0.08%) on implementation of SDGs was significantly low. Further, a majority believed that lack of awareness of SDGs 87% impacts biodiversity conservation, coupled with 12% and 1%, respectively, who opined that limited SDGs knowledge sharing and corruption were barriers to biodiversity conservation. The majority of respondents believed that increased awareness of SDGs (78.2% ± 2.61%), and strengthened institutional capacity (58.7% ± 3.01%) underscores SDGs’ importance in biodiversity conservation. Knowledge of SDGs is pivotal in the enhancement of biodiversity conservation.
