Coal combustion is the greatest anthropogenic source of air *** and HgO as major contaminants in flue gas have attracted significant *** control strategies for NO removal have been widely implemented,such as SCR,***,NO is insoluble in water and difficult to remove,in contrast,NO2 can be efficiently removed by wet scrubbing *** emission has also aroused considerable attention,especially ***,effective HgO control technologies need to be ***,several techniques,such as sorbent injection and catalytic oxidation,have been used to control HgO *** mentioned technologies mainly attempt to remove separate NO or HgO in flue gas,which usually suffer from the problems of complex systems and high operating ***,development of an integrated oxidation technology aiming at simultaneous oxidation of NO and HgO is suggested as an alternative to improve flue gas control *** an effective alternative,the preoxidation of NO to NO2 and HgO to Hg2+ appears to be a promising approach for the removal of NO and HgO by using wet *** available preoxidation technologies,non-thermal plasma(NTP) has received great emphasis because of the ability to rapidly oxidize air *** oxidation characteristics of mixed NO and HgO were investigated using active species injection under oxygen atmosphere,namely,a surface dielectric barrier discharge plasma(SDBD)reactor inserted in simulated flue duct was used to generate and inject the oxygen-d active species into the flue gas to simultaneously oxidize NO and HgO at 110 o *** 92.5% and99.1% of NO and HgO were oxidized at 301.8 J L-1,respectively,a reaction competition between NO and HgO with active species existed,and the NO oxidation was *** effects of important flue gas components on NO and HgO oxidation were investigated.H2O enhanced the NO oxidation,but inhibited the HgO *** exhibited a promotional effect

Bacterial and chemical contamination of drinking water imperils the health of human beings. A reactive species injection method was presented in this paper for sterilization of drinking water. A gas phase surface discharge reactor（SDR）, in which a spiral stainless steel wire attached on the inside wall of a quartz glass tube was used as high voltage electrode and the drinking water was used as ground electrode, was designed to produce reactive species for inactivation of bacterium in drinking water. The inactivation performance and mechanisms of E. coli were analyzed through examination of the factors influencing E. coli inactivation. The results show that 500 ml E. coli-contaminated drinking water（108 CFU/ml） was completely sterilized within 4 min. SEM analysis indicates that plasma-induced cell structure damages of E. coli resulted in the leakage of protein, and chemical analysis also indicates that the leakage of protein increased with the treatment time of drinking water. Heating effect concomitantly generated in discharge plasma did not exhibit any influence on E. coli inactivation, and the contribution of direct UV irradiation to E. coli inactivation could be neglected too, while ozone generated by SDR and secondary ·OH radicals generated in drinking water played the decisive roles in E. coli inactivation, and the inactivation attributed to the cell rupture and protein leakage which mainly resulted from these reactive species.
