Influence of aircraft surface distribution on electromagnetic scattering characteristics

In this paper,two typical stealth aircraft concepts（wing fuselage blended and flyingwing） were *** three gradually changed surface distribution models with the same planform for each concept were *** on the multilevel fast multipole algorithm（MLFMA）,the vertical polarization transmitting/vertical polarization receiving（VV） and horizontal polarization transmitting/horizontal polarization receiving（HH） radar cross section（RCS） characteristics were simulated with five frequencies between 0.1 and 1.0 *** influences and mechanisms of aircraft surface distribution on electromagnetic scattering characteristics were *** results show that for the wing fuselage blended concept,the W RCS of this frequency range is higher than the HH RCS in most cases,while it is just the opposite for the flying-wing *** for the two aircraft concepts,the RCS levels of HH and W both decrease with the frequency increasing,but the HH RCS has a faster downward *** surface distribution has little influence on HH RCS *** the contrary,it has a significant impact on W RCS characteristics,and the amplitude of the VV RCS increases with the surface thickness.

The way the corrosion inhibitor binds to the metallic surface and the distribution of the corrosion inhibitor molecules are two crucial things to mitigate corrosion. These can probably be analysed most effectively by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry（ToF-SIMS）.In this work, several N-and S-containing molecules are presented as corrosion inhibitors for brass in chloride solution. XPS was used to elucidate the nature of binding of the molecules to the metallic *** addition, angle-dependent XPS analysis was performed to show the layered structure formed when the corrosion inhibitor molecules adsorb on the surface. Furthermore, a gas cluster ion beam（GCIB） was used to sputter the thin organic layer slowly. XPS analysis was performed between each sputtering cycle to reveal the chemical environment of the corrosion inhibitor structures. Principal component analysis was also performed to show the different phases formed on the *** order to determine the surface distribution of different organic and inorganic species on the metallic surface, molecular specific signals obtained by the ToF-SIMS technique are probably the best option currently available. This technique offers the possibility of high mass and lateral resolution, which allows distinguishing between the signals for the analyte and the surface contamination. This work demonstrates the surface distribution of various corrosion inhibitors and their organometallic complexes on the brass surface. Moreover, ToF-SIMS is a practical technique to obtain information about the thermal stability of corrosion inhibitor molecules on metallic surfaces by performing a so called cooling/heating *** latter reveals typical desorption temperatures, which is crucial in many industrial applications. A practical feature in the use of ToF-SIMS is 3D imaging, where sputter and analysis beams are used to obtain the depth distribution of the species of interest
