The aim of this study is to examine the qualities that auditors engaged in detecting potential fraud within multinational corporations in sub-saharan africa should *** achieve this goal,a quantitative approach was used to develop and test a research model based on three theories:agency theory,attribution theory,and cognitive dissonance *** from a panel of two hundred and nine(209)auditors who conducted a legal audit mission in a sub-saharan multinational were analyzed using SmartPLS 3.3.3 *** results emphasize the crucial importance of auditors’competence and continuous training in fraud ***,professional skepticism and time pressure were found to be non-significant in this *** conclusion provides essential insights for auditors,highlighting the key qualities needed to effectively address fraud detection within multinational corporations in sub-saharan africa.

Many growing cities of sub-saharan africa(SSA)are marred by the inefficient collection,management,disposal and reuse of organic *** purpose of this study was to review and compare the energy recovery potential as well as bio-fertilizer perspective,from the organic waste volumes generated in SSA *** on computations made with a literature review,we find that the amount of organic wastes varies across countries translating to differences in the energy and bio-fertilizer production potentials across *** wastes generated in SSA can potentially generate about 133 million GWh of energy per *** organic waste to bio-fertilizer production potentials range from 11.08 million tons to 306.26 million tons *** has the highest energy and bio-fertilizer potential among the SSA countries with a total per capita of 630 MWh/year and 306.26 million tons,*** challenges and technical considerations for energy and bio-fertilizer approaches in the management of organic waste in SSA have also been *** study is of help to the readers and strategic decision makers in understanding the contribution of bioenergy and bio-fertilizer to achieving sustainable development goals,namely,7(Affordable and Clean Energy)and 13(Climate Action)in SSA.

This research paper assesses the reality of Climate-Smart Agriculture(CSA)practices’potential to promote the outcomes of sustainable food systems(SFS)within Ghana’s smallholding agriculture *** study demon-strates that rural farmers generally perceive CSA’s contribution to‘food and nutrition security’and‘economic performance’as more important than CSA’s contribution to‘social equity’and‘environmental stewardship’.From a narrow perspective,the study demonstrates that farmers perceive CSA’s potential to‘prevent pest and disease outbreaks’and‘increase human capital information’as the most important contribution of CSA to SFS *** contrast,CSA’s potential to promote environmental stewardship is perceived as the least important among Ghana’s rural *** enormity of displacement of smallholders’perceptions at large is motivated by de-mographic,socioeconomic and ecological ***,the CSA for SFS outcomes narratives is driven by farmers’self-apprise,social networks and other local information dissemination ***,research findings suggest farmers’awareness of CSA practices and interventions is deficient owing to unmet training and information needs for approximately 82%of the CSA practices and *** situation elucidates the dichotomy of CSA practices’narratives as tools for attaining food,nutrition security and economic performance to the detriment of critical issues such as increasing awareness and building farmers’capacity to engage with CSA practices while also managing socio-ecological trade-offs that emerge over time due to engagement with ***(re)orientation is needed across the scale to drive CSA practices and interventions that confine cli-mate adaptation and food production practices within safe planetary boundaries without undermining social,economic,food and nutrition security needs.

The relationship between environmental degradation and poverty has increasingly become the focus of national strategic decision-making in recent ***,despite several theoretical explorations on the nexus,a dearth of empirical literature on the poverty-environmental degradation nexus,specifically on sub-saharan africa(SSA),still *** this study,we investigated the poverty-environmental degradation nexus in *** hypothesized that poverty is both a cause and effect of environmental degradation,and this relationship is explained as a vicious *** previous studies,we employed several alternative indicators of environmental degradation to examine the poverty-environmental degradation nexus in this *** used data from 41 countries of SSA between 1996 and 2019 and employed the generalized method of moments(GMM)*** findings suggest a cyclical relationship between poverty and environmental degradation in SSA,which confirms that an increase in poverty leads to an increase in environmental degradation,especially in deforestation and PM2.5 ***,the increase in environmental degradation positively affects poverty in *** also confirmed that exogenous conditioning factors such as population growth rate,education,industrialization,and income inequality,institutional quality indicators such as governance effectiveness,control of corruption,freedom ad civil liberty,and democracy,and endogenous factors including fossil fuel energy use,fuelwood energy use,household health expenditure,infant mortality rate,and agriculture productivity influence the nexus between poverty and environmental *** findings on the relationship between poverty and environmental degradation in SSA are a testimonial evidence that both poverty and environmental degradation are significant issues in ***,poverty alleviation policies in SSA should not lead to PM2.5 emissions and deforestation,which may as well force people into a poverty-environm

The majority of the population on the african continent is unable to access basic electricity services,this despite the abundance of renewable energy sources(RESs).The inability to adequately tap into these RESs has led to the continued dependence on non-renewable energy sources such as coal for electricity generation,and kerosene for cooking and lighting,the resulting use of which is poor health *** use of Microgrids(MGs)is being extensively researched as a feasible means of tackling the challenge of electrification,especially in rural and remote *** times have seen an increasing number of research works focusing on sub-saharan africa(SSA),which is one of the regions with the lowest electrification rates in the *** provide the most suitable means to integrate RESs into the electricity generation process,paving the way towards clean energy for the african *** paper presents a review of recent literature on the usage of MG technology for rural electrification,with a specific focus on the applicability of MGs in the SSA *** paper additionally presents the challenges and opportunities to *** findings indicate that SSA has already begun the transition towards clean energy via implementation of RES-based ***,two resonating challenges in the literature are adequate support via policy,and proper planning of project *** two major barriers are needed to be overcome in order to fully utilize MGs for rural electrification in *** key methodology derived from this study is that any effort towards rural electrification requires a sufficient amount of investigation,incorporating both the technological and socio-economic aspects into a suitable design for the target location.

Preferences and Motivations of Women Who Use Traditional Contraceptive Methods to Avoid Pregnancy in sub-saharan africa: A Systematic Review

Introduction: When it comes to family planning, requirements and preferences vary among couples. Because of their mixed effectiveness, traditional contraceptive methods are often associated and accounted as unmet needs. However, interest in these methods is growing significantly. Nevertheless, knowledge of the reasons for the decision and using traditional contraceptive methods remains limited. The purpose of this study was to identify the preferences and motivations of women who use traditional contraceptive methods to avoid pregnancy in sub-saharan africa. Method: A literature search was conducted in three electronic databases (PubMed/Biomed Central/Medline, Embase, CINAHL). Two independent individuals selected the eligible quantitative, qualitative, and mixed studies published between 2011 and 2020. We conducted a narrative synthesis to organize and group preferences and motivations that facilitate traditional contraceptive methods use. Results: Abstinence, withdrawal, breastfeeding, rhythm method were the main preferences to contraceptive planning methods identified. Factors influencing the use of traditional contraceptive methods were the lack of knowledge, the side effects, the bad experience with the modern contraceptive methods, spousal communication around family planning, the husband’s opposition to modern methods, availability, accessibility, and the absence of side effects as well as the character of the traditional methods, the fact of living in an urban environment as well as the age beyond 30 years. Conclusion: This review identified preferences and motivations for using traditional contraceptive methods. These findings could be considered in different family planning programs to understand their role and help to estimate the contraceptive prevalence better.

Burden of COVID-19 in a Hemodialysis Center in sub-saharan africa

Background: The current COVID-19 pandemic remains a great challenge to healthcare workers, especially caregivers of patients with chronic diseases. Despite the advances in knowledge on COVID-19, data on COVID-19 in haemodialysis (HD) remains rare in africa. Methods: We conducted a review of records from 2020 May 13th to 2021 June 24th in the HD center of Yaoundé General Hospital. All staff and patients in the HD unit were included. Sociodemographic, clinical, laboratory, and radiological data and patient outcome data were collected. All statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 21.0 software (Chicago, IL). Results: In all 30 HD patients and 3 staff members were positive for COVID-19 during the period. The median age of the infected population was 56 years (37.25 - 62). The median dialysis vintage was 42 months (24 - 96). Hypertension (73.3%) and diabetes (36.6%) were frequent comorbidities. About 10% (n = 3) were asymptomatic whereas those who were symptomatic had a mean duration of symptoms of 7 ± 5.6 days. Fatigue (23/30), fever (21/30), cough (14/30) and diarrhoea (11/30) were the main symptoms. Oxygen saturation was low in 36.6% (n = 11) ranging from 82% - 89%. About 50% were admitted in hospital for social isolation;there was no admission in intensive care unit. Three patients (10%) died: 2 for respiratory distress and 1 for severe anaemia. Laboratory test was done in 60% (n = 18) of case and revealed in 72.2% (n = 13) patients low lymphocytes count (median 896/mm3 [800 - 1513]) and anaemia in 77.7% (median 8.5 g/dl [7.5 - 9.8]). Conclusions: HD patients are highly susceptible and HD centres are high risk areas during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
