The expectancy-value theory:A meta-analysis of its application in physical education

Background:The purpose of motivating students is to enhance their learning *** expectancy-value theory(EVT)has demonstrated its efficacy in motivating students in classrooms and in *** student motivation in physical education is *** metaanalysis review aimed to reveal the determinants and functions of EVT by evaluating the evidence in physical education ***:We followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines to identify and meta-analyze the current research literature published from January 2010 to December 2020 by generating and analyzing the effect sizes from the ***:A total of 31 studies were *** results show that social support,motivation of teachers and peers,and positive class climate can predict student EVT *** motivation predicts student learning behaviors,situational interests,fitness performance,health behavior function,out-of-school physical activity,and physical skill ***:EVT motivation could facilitate learning behaviors and situational interest development in the *** might lead to fitness enhancement,health behavior change,out-of-school physical activity participation,and physical skill *** a learning environment with a mastery-centered and/or student autonomy approach where students perceived success and the task values can enhance and maximize student EVT motivation and learning achievement.

Short Text Mining for Classifying Educational Objectives and outcomes

Most of the international accreditation bodies in engineering education(e.g.,ABET)and outcome-based educational systems have based their assess-ments on learning outcomes and program educational ***,map-ping program educational objectives(PEOs)to student outcomes(SOs)is a challenging and time-consuming task,especially for a new program which is applying for ABET-EAC(American Board for Engineering and Technology the American Board for Engineering and Technology—Engineering Accreditation Commission)*** addition,ABET needs to automatically ensure that the mapping(classiﬁcation)is reasonable and *** classiﬁcation also plays a vital role in the assessment of students’*** the PEOs are expressed as short text,they do not contain enough semantic meaning and information,and consequently they suffer from high sparseness,multidimensionality and the curse of *** this work,a novel associative short text classiﬁcation tech-nique is proposed to map PEOs to *** datasets are extracted from 152 self-study reports(SSRs)that were produced in operational settings in an engineering program accredited by *** datasets are processed and transformed into a representational form appropriate for association rule *** extracted rules are utilized as delegate classiﬁers to map PEOs to *** proposed asso-ciative classiﬁcation of the mapping of PEOs to SOs has shown promising results,which can simplify the classiﬁcation of short text and avoid many problems caused by enriching short text based on external resources that are not related or relevant to the dataset.
