Existing lithospheric velocity models exhibit similar structures typically associated with the first-order tectonic features,with dissimilarities due to different data and methods used in model *** quantification of model structural similarity can help in interpreting the geophysical properties of Earth's interior and establishing unified models crucial in natural hazard assessment and resource *** we employ the complex wavelet structural similarity index measure(CW-SSIM)active in computer image processing to analyze the structural similarity of four lithospheric velocity models of Chinese mainland published in the past *** take advantage of this method in its multiscale definition and insensitivity to slight geometrical distortion like translation and scaling,which is particularly crucial in the structural similarity analysis of velocity models accounting for uncertainty and *** results show that the CW-SSIM values vary in different model pairs,horizontal locations,and *** variations in the inter-model CW-SSIM are partly owing to different databases in the model generation,the difference of tomography methods may significantly impact the similar structural features of models,such as the low similarities between the full-wave based FWEA18 and other three models in northeastern *** finally suggest potential solutions for the next generation of tomographic modeling in different areas according to corresponding structural similarities of existing models.

Minimum structural similarity Distortion for Reversible Data Hiding

Until now, most Reversible data hiding(RDH) techniques have been evaluated by Peak signal-tonoise ratio(PSNR), which based on Mean squared error(MSE). Unfortunately, MSE turns out to be an extremely poor measure when the purpose is to predict perceived signal fidelity or quality. The structural similarity(SSIM)index has gained widespread popularity as an alternative motivating principle for the design of image quality measures. How to utilize the characterize of SSIM to design RDH algorithm is very critical. We propose an optimal RDH algorithm under structural similarity constraint. We deduce the metric of the structural similarity constraint,and further we prove it does not hold Non-crossing-edges(NCE) property. We construct the rate-distortion function of optimal structural similarity constraint, which is equivalent to minimize the average distortion for a given embedding rate, and then we can obtain the optimal transition probability matrix under the structural similarity constraint. Experiments show that our proposed method can be used to improve the performance of previous RDH schemes evaluated by SSIM.

Adversarial network embedding using structural similarity

Network embedding which aims to embed a given network into a low-dimensional vector space has been proved effective in various network analysis and mining tasks such as node classification,link prediction and network *** emerging network embedding methods have shifted of emphasis in utilizing mature deep learning *** neural-network based network embedding has become a mainstream solution because of its high eficiency and capability of preserv-ing the nonlinear characteristics of the *** this paper,we propose Adversarial Network Embedding using structural similarity(ANESS),a novel,versatile,low-complexity GAN-based network embedding model which utilizes the inherent vertex-to-vertex structural similarity attribute of the *** learns robustness and ffective vertex embeddings via a adversarial training ***,our method aims to exploit the strengths of generative adversarial networks in generating high-quality samples and utilize the structural similarity identity of vertexes to learn the latent representations of a ***,ANESS can dynamically update the strategy of generating samples during each training *** extensive experiments have been conducted on the several benchmark network datasets,and empirical results demon-strate that ANESS significantly outperforms other state-of-theart network embedding methods.

Color Image Quality Assessment Based on structural similarity

Objective Image Fusion Quality Evaluation Using structural similarity

Objective evaluations of fused images are important in comparing the performance of different image fusion algorithms. This paper describes a structural similarity metric that does not use a reference image for image fusion evaluations. The metric is based on the universal image quality index and addresses not only the similarities between the input images and the fused image, but also the similarities among the input images. The evaluation process distinguishes between complementary information and redundant information using similarities among the input images. The metric uses the information classification to estimate how much structural similarity is preserved in the fused image. Tests demonstrate that the metric correlates well with subjective evaluations of the fused images.

USSL Net:Focusing on structural similarity with Light U-Structure for Stroke Lesion Segmentation

Automatic segmentation of ischemic stroke lesions from computed tomography(CT)images is of great significance for identifying and curing this life-threatening ***,in addition to the problem of low image contrast,it is also challenged by the complex changes in the appearance of the stroke area and the difficulty in obtaining image *** that it is difficult to obtain stroke data and labels,a data enhancement algorithm for one-shot medical image segmentation based on data augmentation using learned transformation was proposed to increase the number of data sets for more accurate segmentation.A deep convolutional neural network based algorithm for stroke lesion segmentation,called structural similarity with light U-structure(USSL)Net,was *** embedded a convolution module that combines switchable normalization,multi-scale convolution and dilated convolution in the network for better segmentation ***,considering the strong structural similarity between multi-modal stroke CT images,the USSL Net uses the correlation maximized structural similarity loss(SSL)function as the loss function to learn the varying shapes of the *** experimental results show that our framework has achieved results in the following ***,the data obtained by adding our data enhancement algorithm is better than the data directly segmented from the multi-modal ***,the performance of our network model is better than that of other models for stroke segmentation ***,the way SSL functioned as a loss function is more helpful to the improvement of segmentation accuracy than the cross-entropy loss function.

＜正＞ Sub-images on different scales of wavelet transform have significant structural similarity, but traditional compression methods based on wavelet transform seldom make good use of the structural similarity of significant wavelet coefficients. Taking the idea of zero-tree compression algorithm and Rinaldo’s block predicting method as references, this paper presents a novel still image compression method to eliminate the structural redundancy of significant wavelet coefficients on different scales. Results of the experiment successfully prove the validity of this method.

A Novel Spatial Pooling Strategy for Image Quality Assessment

A variety of existing image quality assessment （IQA） metrics share a similar two-stage framework： at the first stage, a quality map is constructed by comparison between local regions of reference and distorted images; at the second stage, the spatial pooling is adopted to obtain overall quality score. In this work, we propose a novel spatial pooling strategy for image quality assessment through statistical analysis of the quality map. Our in-depth analysis indicates that the overall image quality is sensitive to the quality distribution. Based on the analysis, the quality histogram and statistical descriptors extracted from the quality map are used as input to the support vector regression to obtain the final objective quality score. Experimental results on three large public IQA databases have demonstrated that the proposed spatial pooling strategy can greatly improve the quality prediction performance of the original IQA metrics in terms of correlation with human subjective ratings.

Protein design has become a powerful method to expand the number of natural proteins and design customized proteins according to ***-based protein design spares the need to create novel elements from scratch,which makes it a more efficient strategy than scratch-based protein design in designing multi-domain proteins,protein complexes and *** the surface shape plays a central role in domain-domain and protein-protein interactions,a global map of the surface shapes of all domains should be very beneficial for domain-based protein ***,in this study,we characterized the surface shapes of protein domains,collected from CATH and SCOP databases,with their 3D-Zernike descriptors(3DZDs).Then similarities of domain shape features were identified,and all domains were classified *** preferences of the combinations of domains between different clusters were analyzed in natural proteins from the Protein Data Bank.A user-friendly website,termed CPD3DS,was also developed for storage,retrieval,analyses and visualization of our *** work not only provides an overall view of protein domain shapes by showing their variety and similarities,but also opens up a new avenue to understand the properties of protein structural domains,and design principles of protein architectures.
