Computer vision-based six layered ConvNeural network to recognize sign language for both numeral and alphabet signs

People who have trouble communicating verbally are often dependent on sign language,which can be difficult for most people to understand,making interaction with them a difficult endeavor.The Sign Language Recognition(SLR)system takes an input expression from a hearing or speaking-impaired person and outputs it in the form of text or voice to a normal person.The existing study related to the Sign Language Recognition system has some drawbacks,such as a lack of large datasets and datasets with a range of backgrounds,skin tones,and ages.This research efficiently focuses on Sign Language Recognition to overcome previous limitations.Most importantly,we use our proposed Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)model,“ConvNeural”,in order to train our dataset.Additionally,we develop our own datasets,“BdSL_OPSA22_static1”and“BdSL_OPSA22_static2”,both of which have ambiguous backgrounds.“BdSL_OPSA22_static1”and“BdSL_OPSA22_static2”both include images of Bangla characters and numerals,a total of 24,615 and 8437 images,respectively.The“ConvNeural”model outperforms the pre-trained models with accuracy of 98.38%for“BdSL_OPSA22_static1”and 92.78%for“BdSL_OPSA22_static2”.For“BdSL_OPSA22_static1”dataset,we get precision,recall,F1-score,sensitivity and specificity of 96%,95%,95%,99.31%,and 95.78%respectively.Moreover,in case of“BdSL_OPSA22_static2”dataset,we achieve precision,recall,F1-score,sensitivity and specificity of 90%,88%,88%,100%,and 100%respectively.

static Optimization of a Compliant Vertical Access Riser

The compliant vertical access riser (CVAR) is a new riser concept with good compliance;it can significantly reduce operating costs by eliminating the need for additional machines to operate wells directly on the platform.In this study,we determined the optimal riser parameters in terms of the stress and riser weight by optimizing the CVAR,and we compared the optimization resuits.A two-dimensional nonlinear static CVAR model was deduced according to the principles of virtual work and variation,and the model was verified using MATLAB.Design of experiments and Kriging method were used to reduce the number of sample calculations and improve the modeling accuracy.An appropriate selection of the multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) and the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm helped to optimize the CVAR design.The non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm Ⅱ was used to solve the Pareto frontier of the optimization model in order to provide decision makers with more choices for the optimization results.After optimizing the riser parameters,the geometry of the riser was smoother,and the stress and stress differences were greatly reduced;the maximum equivalent stresses at the top and bottom were reduced by 36.6% and 44%,respectively.In addition,the stress difference in the buoyancy block area was reduced by 20.9%,and the weight of the riser was increased significantly by 28.1%.

Effect of Tai Chi on Cardiac and static Pulmonary Function in Older Community-Dwelling Adults at Risk of Ischemic Stroke: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Objective: To evaluate the effect of tai chi exercise on cardiac and static lung function for older community-dwelling adults at risk of ischemic stroke. Methods: A total of 170 older community-dwelling adults (aged 55–75 years old) at risk of ischemic stroke were allocated to either tai chi training group (85 cases, five 60-min sessions of tai chi training per week for 12 weeks) or control group (85 cases, usual pbysical activity for 12 weeks) using a computer-generated randomization. The echocardiographic parameters of cardiac structure, cardiac function and static lung function were measured at baseline, after 12 weeks of intervention and additional 12-week follow-up period by a blinded professional staff member using a color Doppler ultrasound imaging device or a cardiopulmonary function instrument. The t test and linear mixed model based on the intention-to-treat analysis principle was used to calculate the effect. The adverse effect was observed. Results: Most of echocardiographic parameters on the cardiac structure, cardiac function and static lung function between the tai chi group and control group did not have a significant difference either post 12-week intervention or additional 12-week follow-up period. Only three parameters involving in right ventricular diameter (P=0.024), main pulmonary artery diameter (P=0.002) and vital capacity maximum (P=0.036) were beneficial to be improved in the tai chi group compared to the control group by the analysis of mixed linear model. No adverse effects were found during the intervention period. Conclusions: The 12-week tai chi exercise did not have an obvious beneficial effect on cardiac structure, cardiac function and static lung function in older community-dwelling adults at risk of ischemic stroke.(Trial registration No. ChiCTR-TRC-13003601)

Effect of angular misalignment on the static characteristics of rotating externally pressurized air journal bearing

This paper studies the effect of angular misalignment on the static characteristics of rotating externally pressurized air journal bearing with four degrees of freedom(4-DOF). A clearance function is used to describe the film thickness of air journal bearings with angular misalignment along two perpendicular directions. The finite different method(FDM) and an iterative procedure are applied to solve the Reynolds equation and obtain the air film pressure distribution. Various eccentricity ratios and rotating speeds are taken into considerations for the comparisons of static performances of the air journal bearing under different tilt angles. The results show that the air film thickness, load capacity, stiffness, load moment, attitude angle and volume flow rate are affected greatly by the angular misalignment.

Low frequency vibration control of railway vehicles based on ahigh static low dynamic stiffness dynamic vibration absorber

In order to control the low frequency vibration of railway vehicles, a vertical two degrees of freedom(2DOF) low frequency dynamic vibration absorber(DVA) based on acceleration is proposed. Parameters of the dynamic vibration absorber are put forth to control the low frequency vibration of car body bouncing and pitching. Next, the acceleration power spectrum density(PSD)and ride quality of the car body are calculated based on the pseudo excitation method(PEM) and covariance algorithm,respectively. According to the requirement of 2DOF low frequency DVA, the isolators with high static low dynamic stiffness(HSLDS) are designed. A high-speed train dynamic model containing HSLDS isolators is established to validate the effects on the car body vibration. The results reveal that the 2D low frequency DVA can significantly reduce the vibration of the car body bouncing and pitching. Thus, the ride quality of the vehicle is increased, and passenger comfort is improved.

Influence of delta phase precipitation on static recrystallization of cold-rolled Inconel 718 alloy in solid solution treatment

Due to the improvement in fatigue strength of cold-rolled blades,the static recrystallization behavior of cold-rolled Inconel 718 alloy in the solid solution treatment was investigated with the methods of optical microscopy and electron backscattered diffraction.The effect ofδphase precipitation on the static recrystallization process was also analyzed.The results show thatδphase preferentially precipitates comparing to static recrystallization.Affecting by theδphase preferential precipitation process,sub-grain migration is the main nucleation mechanism in the static recrystallization of coldrolled Inconel 718 alloy at 980°C.Meanwhile,strain-induced boundary migration also exists as an aided nucleation mechanism when the rolling reduction is less than 30%.

Model of Underground Ant Nest Structure Using static and Dynamic Finite Element Analysis

This paper focuses on the structural characteristics of ant nests,which are complex structures.Natural underground ant nests generally have good air circulation,pressure resistance, waterproof properties,thermal insulation and a favorable temperature and relative humidity. Additionally,ant nests are often surrounded by trees and other natural barriers.In this study, the natural underground ant nests of Iridomyrmex anceps were gathered from different collection sites.Manual cutting and frozen computer numerical control milling were performed on the ant nests in a laboratory.The internal structure of each nest was measured and recorded,and then, the 2D and 3D numerical structure models of the Iridomyrmex anceps nest were created.The static and dynamic simulation analysis of an underground ant nest structure was performed by using finite element analysis software (ABAQUS),and the mechanical properties of the ant nest were discussed.The underground ant nest structure effectively resisted the additional stress due to external static and live loads,and the ant nest was not completely destroyed.
