On the foundation of nonlinear robust control and exact generator model, this paper presents a design principle of NR-PSS (Nonlinear Robust Power System stabilizer) for multi-machine power system, based on which an industrial NR-PSS equipment is developed. For popularizing it, the proposed parameter setting method of NR-PSS is completely the same as the widely used parameter adjustment rule of PSS. By virtue of real time digital simulator (RTDS), large disturbance experiments are carried out to compare the performances between generator excitation system equipped with NR-PSS and PSS in order to verify the correctness of design theory. The results show that compared with classical PSS, the proposed NR-PSS can dramatically improve the generator damping and attenuate the oscillation much faster, enhance the generator damping and raise both the small signal and large disturbance transient stability transmission power limit remarkably. The NR-PSS equipment with independent intellectual property right has been successfully put into operation on a 300 MW generator in Baishan Hydro Plant of Northeast China Grid more than 10 months.

The present study evaluated the stabilizing effect of starch produced from corns and cassava on the stability of cow milk yogurt. A sample of both corn and cassava starch was selected and used in the yogurt making as stabilizers. The yogurt samples have been analyzed for their WHC, syneresis and protein content. The yogurt with no added starch has found to have very low WHC and high syneresis compared to other samples. The yogurt made with the addition of corn starch as a stabilizer was highly accepted than the yogurt with cassava starch and the yogurt without starch. The findings from this study provide an alternative to add the value of local corns and cassava.

Aggregation of nanoparticles is a serious problem in their *** this article,stability of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)was initially studied with different concentrations of sodium chloride(NaCl).Surfactant screening showed that polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP)was an ideal stabilizer,which not only was effective at a low concentration(0.1%,V/V),but also could protect silver colloids from aggregation for a long period at 1 mol•L^(−1) NaCl,and 6 h even at 3 mol•L^(−1) ***,some other surfactants,such as sodium dodecyl(SDS),Triton X-100,Tween-20,and Tween-80,could not prevent AgNPs from aggregation even at a high concentration up to 0.5%(V/V).This AgNPs stabilizer is simple and convenient for a variety of applications compared with others.

The potential use of tannin-Ca complex derived from tannins as bio-based thermal stabilizer and antioxidant additive for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was investigated in this work. For this project, Reapak B-NT/7060 was applied as reference thermal stabilizer. Variable compositions: (1, 2, and 3) part per hundred ratio (phr) of tannin-Ca complex in the presence of 10 phr Dioctyl phthalate (DOP) as plasticizer in all PVC formulations were prepared by melt mixing by internal mixer at 165°C. Tannin-Ca complex was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) analysis as well as by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The tannin derivative stabilization efficiency under inert atmosphere was determined by using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). In addition, its thermal stabilization effect has been assessed in air as oxidizing atmosphere by DSC in dynamic conditions. According to TGA thermograms, the initial degradation temperature (Ti) and optimum degradation temperature (Top?) for the main degradation stage of PVC stabilized with this derivative were about 280°C and 310°C, respectively. While these were about 255°C and 293°C, respectively for PVC stabilized with commercial thermal stabilizer. Global results of TGA, DSC, SEM and EDX show that the tannin-Ca complex provides the best properties and results in stabilizing both against thermal degradation and thermal oxidation degradation of PVC.

In this paper, we examine the problem of designing power system stabilizer (PSS). A new technique is developed using particle swarm optimization (PSO) combined with linear matrix inequality (LMI). The main feature of PSO, not sticking into a local minimum, is used to eliminate the conservativeness of designing a static output feedback (SOF) stabilizer within an iterative solution of LMIs. The technique is further extended to guarantee robustness against uncertainties wherein power systems operation is changing continuously due to load changes. Numerical simulation ahs illustrated the utility of the developed technique.
