Objective： To explore the effect of Jisuikang （脊髓康, JSK） on kinetic dysfunction in patients after spinal injury. Methods： Eighty-four patients with spinal injury were assigned equally, according to a randomizing digital table to the treated group and the control group. Conventional treatment was given to both groups, and JSK was additionally given to the treated group. Changes of various kinetic function concerning parameters including kinetic score, grades of spinal injury, effectiveness of the treatment and available recovery rate in patients allocated in the treated group and the control group were observed and compared in the way issued by Association of spinal injury of America （ASIA）. Results： Better effects were shown in the treated group than those in the control group in improving kinetic score （92.00 ± 9.95 scores vs 83.76 ± 24.12 scores）, ASIA overall improvement rate （69.05% vs 45.24%） and grades of effectiveness （P〈0.05）. However, the difference of available recovery rate between the two groups was insignificant （P〉0.05）. Cenclusien： JSK could prevent secondary alteration of spinal injury, promote the recovery and regeneration of nerve tissues, but could not restore the function of a necrotic spine.

While the anatomical properties of regenerated axons across spinal cord lesion sites have been studied extensively,little is known of how the functional properties of regenerated synapses compared to those in unlesioned *** study aims to compare the properties of synapses made by regenerated axons with unlesioned axons using the lamprey,a model system for spinal injury research,in which functional locomotor recovery after spinal cord lesions is associated with axonal regeneration across the lesion *** synapses below the lesion site did not differ from synapses from unlesioned axons with respect to the amplitude and duration of single excitatory postsynaptic *** also showed the same activity-dependent depression over spike ***,regenerated synapses did differ from unlesioned synapses as the estimated number of synaptic vesicles was greater and there was evidence for increased postsynaptic quantal *** axons above the lesion site,the amplitude and duration of single synaptic inputs also did not differ significantly from unlesioned ***,in this case,there was evidence of a reduction in release probability and inputs facilitated rather than depressed over spike *** inputs from single regenerated axons below the lesion site thus do not increase in amplitude to compensate for the reduced number of descending axons after functional ***,the postsynaptic input was maintained at the unlesioned level using different synaptic ***,the facilitation from the same initial amplitude above the lesion site made the synaptic input over spike trains functionally *** may help to increase propriospinal activity across the lesion site to compensate for the lesion-induced reduction in supraspinal *** animal experiments were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee of Cambridge University.

Background:This report describes a case of successful repair of severed thoracic spine in a young man who presented with a penetrating stab injury to spine resulting in Brown-Séquard *** technique and postoperative management is *** presentation:A 34-year-old fit and well healthy man was admitted with a history of stab injury to the thoracic spine at thoracic T2/3 level with ASIA impairment score(AIS)score D with an incomplete spinal cord affecting his left lower limb with complete paralysis and right lower limb paresis with impaired sensation below T6 level to *** confirmed a penetrating knife injury traversing the T2/3 level causing hemi-section of the spinal cord confirmed *** underwent an urgent exploratory surgery of his spine and a T2/3 laminectomy was performed to aid removal of the *** dura was noted to be contused and severed spinal cord was noted to be severed with associated cord oedema.A microsurgical repair of the severed cord was performed with duroplasty followed by intense *** a 3 month follow up his AIS score is E with lower limb power is 5/5 bilaterally and he is able to mobilise independently up to 8-10 steps without any supportive aid and with crutches he is independently functional and ***:This is the first documented case of microsurgical repair of severed thoracic spinal cord secondary to traumatic knife *** the management of such scenario,apart from the removal of foreign body,repair of the cord with duroplasty should be carefully *** role of spinal neuroplasticity in healing following timely repair of the spinal cord along with intense rehabilitation remains the *** had resulted in a good clinical and functional outcome with in a 18-month follow up.

Aim: Extensive neurophysiological investigations were carried out in 100 healthy subjects and 84 patients with penileerectile dysfunction. Methods: Following examinations were performed, spinal and scalp somatosensory evoked poten-tials (SEPs) to stimulation of the dorsal nerve of penis, motor evoked potentials (MEPs) from bulbocavernosus (BC) inresponse to scalp and spinal root stimulation, and measurement of sacral reflex latency (SRL) from anal sphincter (AS).Results: In the healthy subjects, the mean sensory total conduction time (sensory TCT), as measured at the peak of thescalp P1 (P40) wave was 39.73 ms. The mean sensory central conduction time (sensory CCT = spinal-to-scalp conductiontime) was 28.98 ms. The mean peripheral conduction time (PCP) was 9.40 ins. Transcranial brain stimulation was per-formed by using a magnetic stimulator during voluntary contraction of the examined muscle. spinal root stimulation wasperformed at rest. Motor total conduction time (motor TCT) to BC muscles was 20.48 ms. Motor central conductiontime (motor CCT) to sacral cord segments controlling BC muscles was 14.42 ms at rest. Purpose:spinal injuries resulting in neurological damage cause significant *** neurosurgical intervention can mitigate negative ***,variable mechanisms of injury may be associated with inappropriate transport(IAT),which may delay necessary surgical *** with near shore spinal injuries(NSSI)presented with unique mechanisms,so we investigated factors associated with IAT in patients with ***:We performed a multicenter retrospective study of all adult patients transported from a beach resort to 3 hospitals for suspected NSSI between *** excluded patients transferred to other facilities,and those not injured in the *** outcome was IAT,defined as patients with NSSI requiring transfer to another trauma *** avoid heterogeneity in our analysis,we further excluded patients without NSSI who were inappropriately transported to a level I trauma *** used multivariable logistic regression to assess association of independent variables(such as demographic,environmental,and clinical factors)with ***:We analyzed 278 patients with suspected NSSI,and found 14(5.0%)had *** to appropriately transported patients,diving was associated with higher percentages of IAT(28.6%vs.3.9%,p=0.014)and more were transported by air(50.0%vs.20.6%,p=0.01).In multivariable regression,patients'oxygenation saturation(odds ratio[OR]=0.8,95%confidence intervals[Cl]:077-0.98)and diving(OR=7.5,95%Cl:1.2-46)were significantly associated with ***:Rate of IAT for patients with NSSI was ***,first responders and emergency medicine providers should be aware that diving is associated with a higher likelihood of IAT.
