Secondary solar heat gain modelling of spectral-selective glazing based on dynamic solar radiation spectrum

The secondary solar heat gain,defined as the heat flows from glazing to indoor environment through longwave radiation and convection,grows with the increasing of glazing *** the rapid development and application of spectrally selective glazing,the secondary solar heat gain becomes the main way of glazing heat transfer and biggest proportion,and indicates it should not be simplified calculated ***,a dynamic secondary solar heat gain model is developed with electrochromic glazing system in this study,taking into account with three key aspects,namely,optical model,heat transfer model,and outdoor radiation *** with the traditional K-Sc model,this new model is verified by on-site experimental measurements with dynamic outdoor spectrum and *** verification results show that the root mean square errors of the interior and exterior glass surface temperature are 3.25°C and 3.33°C,respectively,and the relative error is less than 10.37%.The root mean square error of the secondary heat gain is 13.15 W/m2,and the dynamic maximum relative error is only 13.2%.The simulated and measured results have a good *** addition,the new model is further extended to reveal the variation characteristics of secondary solar heat gain under different application conditions(including orientations,locations,EC film thicknesses and weather conditions).In summary,based on the outdoor spectrum and window spectral characteristics,the new model can accurately calculate the increasing secondary solar heat gain in real time,caused by spectrally selective windows,and will provide a computational basis for the evaluation and development of spectrally selective glazing materials.

Focusing solar spectrum by Anthracene Molecules

Conventionally, each fluorophore is only clarified with the wavelength of incident beam shorter（down-conversion） or longer（up-conversion） than that of emission light. However, three anthracenes presented in this paper are the wavelength-focused（WF） molecules which can shift the portions of shorter and longer wavelengths of incident light into an identical wavelength in between. UV（ultraviolet） and NIR（near infrared） portions of Xenon light-simulated solar spectrum are focused into visible light with maximum wavelengths ranging from 415 to 471 nm through the two-way photoluminescence of the three anthracenes（anthracene（AN）, fluoranthene（FLA） and 9, 10-diphenylanthracene（DPA））. At the same time, the intensity of the visible light is two times as that of excitation light. Besides, DPA dissolved in different solvents shows excellent fluorescence features. The results present great potential for applications in enhancing the intensity of solar spectrum at visible region and utilizing more portions of sunlight with solar cell.

Engineering of efficient visible light photocatalysts:Ti_(1-x+y)Cu_(x)La_(y)O_(2)(x=0.03;y=0,0.005,0.01) compositions

In dye-photocatalysis, widening the wavelengths absorption range of catalysts as well as aborting the recombination of the photoexcited charge carriers(electrons-holes pairs) are of paramount *** the current study, we report the photocatalytic characteristics of four compositions composed of TiO_(2),Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders for two harmful dyes(Congo red and methylene blue). The X-ray diffraction technique verified the configuration of mixed anatase and rutile phases in pure TiO_(2)and Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2)powders while Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders possess anatase phase only. The changes of the band gap structure and dimensions of the unit cell volume of TiO_(2)confirm the substitution of Ti^(4+)sites by Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions. Remarkable widening of wavelengths absorption with formation of long absorption tails were found in TiO_(2)(3.13 e V) through insertion of La^(3+)plus Cu^(2+)ions. Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)samples exhibit a visible light band gap of 2.3 and 2.7 e V, respectively. Based on SEM images, incorporation of Cu^(2+)and La^(3+)ions influences the surface morphology of TiO_(2). The resulting Ti_(0.97)Cu_(0.03)O_(2), Ti_(0.965)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.005)O_(2)and Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)powders present enhanced photocatalytic activity towards Congo red dye degradation compared to pure one under natural solar spectrum. The best Ti_(0.96)Cu_(0.03)La_(0.01)O_(2)catalyst exhibits superior photocatalytic activity of 96% for 10 ppm CR dye in 20 min as well as above average photocatalytic efficiency of 63% for 30 ppm CR dye in 120 min. As well, it showed acceptable photodegradation activity of 52% for 30 ppm MB solution in 140 min of sunlight irradiation. NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF O_3,CO_2 AND spectrum VARIATION ON THE PHOTOSYNTHESIS OF CROP CANOPY

Coupled the photosynthesis with transpiration and adjustment of stoma,a dynamic ecological model for simulating the canopy photosynthesis of winter wheat was established by scaling up from the biochemical scale to canopy scale,in which the effects of O_3,CO_2 and solar spectrum on crop photosynthesis were fully *** of the model against the data measured with CI-301PS portable photosynthesis analyzer showed that the leaf photosynthesis model passed the correlation significance test and had a fairly high *** analysis showed that the canopy photosynthesis rate would be reduced by 29% if the O_3 concentration increases from 0 ppbv to 200 ppbv,whereas the canopy photosynthesis rate would increase by about 37% while the CO_2 concentration increases from 330 ppmv to 660 ppmv,and the canopy photosynthesis rate would be reduced by 27%0 or so under the condition that the spectrum coefficient changed from 0.5 to *** the O_3 concentration reached 200 ppbv at noon on the typical sunny day with higher radiation,the canopy photosynthesis will be reduced slightly in the suburb area where the pollution is serious and the photochemical fog is easy to be formed,contrast with that in the clear region and regardless of the climate change,due to the fact that the positive effect of CO_2 on crop photosynthesis can not compensate the negative effect of O_3 on crop *** canopy photosynthesis will be reduced by 35% or so than the BASE value at present,when the spectrum of photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) reduces to 0.4 or so.

Calculation of the Effect of Opacity on the solar Spectral Lines of CIV

In this paper, using the intensity ratio between two spectral lines arising from the common lower level, we determine the optical depth of the solar atmosphere of CIV emission lines. The optical depth at the line center of the （1/2-3/2） component is calculated to be 0.05 at the center of the solar disc. By introducing a measured abundance of carbon and the results of ionization balance calculations, we estimate the line-of-sight physical thickness of the regions emitting CIV lines as Heff = 27 km, and we estimate the population density of the lower level to be 1.8 × 106 cm-3 .
