Assessing Factors Influencing solar energy Adoption among Small and Medium Enterprises in Mzuzu City, Malawi

One of the many renewable energy sources that offer advantages is solar energy, which also lowers energy prices and promotes environmental sustainability and energy security. Despite these advantages, various barriers, such as installation costs, have prevented small and medium-sized enterprises from investigating this invention. Malawi has a significant energy shortfall such that most businesses have been hindered from their profit maximization goals. The “Photovoltaic systems” (PV) that transform sunlight into electricity are the subject of this study. This type of solar energy system is situated on the building’s roof and generally produces electricity for businesses and even homes. solar energy offers a great impact to small and medium enterprises in Mzuzu city with a cost-effective and dependable alternative to energy that has the potential to change the game. Therefore the aim of the study was to identify factors that encourage the adoption of solar energy among small medium enterprises in the city of Mzuzu city. And to identify some of barriers faced when adopting solar energy among small and medium enterprises in the city of Mzuzu. The research approach employed in the study was a survey. A survey is a type of research methodology in which primary data is gathered from a sample using a questionnaire. When information is to be gathered from a wider sample, a survey is employed. A bigger sample size was needed in this study in order to facilitate hypothesis testing. It is advised to apply a logical approach while using the survey. The survey utilized a five-point Likert scale. The study used convenience sampling to select study participants. The sample size in this study was determined using Cochran’s sample size formula. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel were used for statistical analysis. About 97.2% of the participants were aware of solar as a source of energy compared to 2.8 % who were unaware. The majority of participants

This study aims to evaluate the solar and wind energy potential across Razavi Khorasan Province,Iran,with a specific focus on the Khaf region.A preliminary assessment of mean solar radiation,mean wind speeds,and Weibull distribution parameters was conducted for different towns and zones within the *** findings showed that Khaf has favorable characteristics for further *** solar and wind energy metrics examined include global horizontal irradiance,clearness index,wind rose patterns,and turbulence *** a height of 40 m,Khaf’s wind power density reached 1650 W/m^(2),indicating exceptional wind energy generation ***,Khaf received an average annual solar radiation of 2046 kW·h/m^(2),representing significant solar energy *** these substantial renewable resources in Khaf could allow Razavi Khorasan Province to reduce reliance on fossil fuels,improve energy sustainability,and mitigate climate change *** research contributes an in-depth assessment of Razavi Khorasan's solar and wind energy potential,particularly for the promising Khaf *** work may examine optimal sites for renewable energy projects and grid integration strategies to leverage these resources.

Integration of a thermochemical energy system driven by solar energy and biomass for natural gas and power production

energy systems with multi-energy product outputs driven by renewable energy sources are becoming increasingly *** satisfy the diversification of energy use forms in China,this study proposes a new thermochemical energy system driven by solar energy and biomass for natural gas and power *** this system,syngas from solar-driven biomass gasification is used to synthesize natural gas,whereas the unreacted syngas is burned directly in a combined cycle for power *** adjust the production capacity of the system,a shift reaction was used to change the H_(2)/CO ratio in the *** biomass gasification model was experimentally verified,and the thermodynamic performance of the system was studied *** results showed that the production rate of natural gas,with a heat value of 714.88 k J/mol,was approximately 0.306 m^(3)-SNG/kg-bio,and the primary energy efficiency was 47%.The new system showed a good energy-saving potential of 15.29%.Parametric analysis indicated that an increase in the gasification temperature led to a reduction in the natural gas production and an increase in the power output of the system,with a maximum energy efficiency of 66.72%at gasification temperature of 1050°*** an increase in the syngas share entering the transfer reactor,the natural gas production rate and energy efficiency of the system were improved with an optimum share of approximately 0.55,thereby facilitating the development and optimization of operation *** study provides a promising way to increase the share of renewable energy instead of fossil fuels.

From sawdust waste to high-value hierarchical ceramics-based phase change materials: Efficient dual functional thermal and solar energy storage

Latent heat thermal energy storage(LHTES) technology is gaining extensive attention due to its capability to balance supply and demand mismatch in solar energy utilization. However, phase change material as the core of storing latent heat still suffers from low thermal conductivity and poor shape stability, which severely restricts its practical application. Here, an eco-friendly strategy for achieving high-performance dual functional thermal and solar energy storage is proposed via turning wood processing waste into high-value hierarchical porous SiC ceramic-based composite phase change materials. The porosity of prepared porous SiC skeletons is highly adjustable from 59.4% to 90.2%, overcoming low porosity limitations of traditional wood materials and enabling tunable energy storage density for various applications. High thermal conductivity is achieved by benefiting from large grains and continuous skeletons with a value up to 37.93 and 1.87 W/(m K) for porosity of 59.4% and 90.2%, *** stabilities are demonstrated with only slight decreases of thermal conductivity and energy storage density over 1000 cycles and good anti-leakage properties are confirmed due to capillary adsorption forces induced by hierarchical pores. Benefiting from high thermal conductivity and high solar absorptance, fast and efficient solar thermal energy storage is successfully demonstrated. This work provides a new strategy for the high-value utilization of wood processing waste and efficient thermal/solar energy storage.

Optimal Location to Use solar energy in an Urban Situation

This study conducted in Lima, Peru, a combination of spatial decisionmaking system and machine learning was utilized to identify potentialsolar power plant construction sites within the city. Sundial measurementsof solar radiation, precipitation, temperature, and altitude were collectedfor the study. Gene Expression Programming (GEP), which is based on theevolution of intelligent models, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) wereboth utilized in this investigation, and the results obtained from each werecompared. Eighty percent of the data was utilized during the training phase,while the remaining twenty percent was utilized during the testing phase. Onthe basis of the findings, it was determined that the GEP is the most suitablenetwork for predicting the location. The test state’s Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency(NSE) was 0.90, and its root-mean-square error (RMSE) was 0.04. Followingthe generation of the final map based on the results of the GEP model, itwas determined that 9.2% of the province’s study area is suitable for theconstruction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 53.5% is acceptable and37.3% is unsuitable. The ANN model reveals that only 1.7% of the study areais suitable for the construction of photovoltaic solar power plants, while 66.8%is acceptable and 31.5% is unsuitable.

Thermodynamic Investigation of a solar energy Cogeneration Plant Using an Organic Rankine Cycle in Supercritical Conditions

In the present work,a novel Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC)configuration is used for a low-grade heat source cogeneration *** investigation is conducted accordingly into the simultaneous production of electricity and *** proposed configuration relies on concentrated solar power(as heat source)and ambient air(for cooling).Furthermore,two gas ejectors are added to the system in order to optimize the thermodynamic efficiency of the organic Rankine *** results show that the thermodynamic and geometric parameters related to these ejectors have an important effect on the overall system *** order to account for the related environmental impact,the following working fluids are considered:HCFC-124,HFC-236fa,HFO-1234yf and *** shown by the numerical simulations,the fluid R1234yf presents the minimal heat consumption and therefore provides an optimal thermal efficiency for the ORC cycle(which is around 29%).However,the refrigerant R236fa displays the highest refrigeration performances with a performance coefficient reaching a value as high as 0.38.

For heating systems based on electricity storage coupled with solar energy and an air source heat pump(ECSA),choosing the appropriate combination of heat sources according to local conditions is the key to improving economic *** this paper,four cities in three climatic regions in China were selected,namely Nanjing in the hot summer and cold winter region,Tianjin in the cold region,Shenyang and Harbin in the severe cold winter *** levelized cost of heat(LCOH)was used as the economic evaluation index,and the energy consumption and emissions of different pollutants were *** software was used to simulate and analyze the system *** Hooke-Jeeves optimization algorithm and GenOpt software were used to optimize the system *** results showed that ECSA systemhad an excellent operation effect in cold region and hot summer and cold winter *** with ECS system,the systemenergy consumption,and the emission of different pollutants of ECSA system can be reduced by a maximum of 1.37 *** cold region,the initial investment in an air source heat pump is higher due to the lower ambient temperature,resulting in an increase in the LOCH value of ECSA *** the LOCH value of ECSA system in each region was optimized,the heating cost of the system was reduced,but also resulted in an increase in energy consumption and the emission of different pollutant gases.
