Time and space complexity is themost critical problemof the current routing optimization algorithms for software defined networking(SDN).To overcome this complexity,researchers use meta-heuristic techniques inside the routing optimization algorithms in the OpenFlow(OF)based large scale *** paper proposes a hybrid meta-heuristic algorithm to optimize the dynamic routing problem for the large scale *** to the dynamic nature of SDNs,the proposed algorithm uses amutation operator to overcome the memory-based problem of the ant colony ***,it uses the box-covering method and the k-means clustering method to divide the SDN network to overcome the problemof time and space *** results of the proposed algorithm compared with the results of other similar algorithms and it shows that the proposed algorithm can handle the dynamic network changing,reduce the network congestion,the delay and running times and the packet loss rates.

In order to improve the scalability and reliability of software defined networking(SDN),many studies use multiple controllers to constitute logically centralized control plane to provide load balancing and fail *** this paper,we develop a flexible dormant multi-controller model based on the centralized multi-controller *** dormant multi-controller model allows part of controllers to enter the dormant state under light traffic condition for saving system ***,through queueing analysis,various performance measures of the system can be ***,we analyze the real traffic of China Education Network and use the results as the parameters of computer simulation and verify the effects of parameters on the system ***,a total expected cost function is established,and genetic algorithm is employed to find the optimal values of various parameters to minimize system cost for the deployment decision making.

Dynamic Threshold-Based Approach to Detect Low-Rate DDoS Attacks on software-defined networking Controller

The emergence of a new network architecture,known as software defined networking(SDN),in the last two decades has overcome some drawbacks of traditional networks in terms of performance,scalability,reliability,security,and network ***,the SDN is vulnerable to security threats that target its controller,such as low-rate Distributed Denial of Service(DDoS)attacks,The low-rate DDoS attack is one of the most prevalent attacks that poses a severe threat to SDN network security because the controller is a vital architecture ***,there is an urgent need to propose a detection approach for this type of attack with a high detection rate and low false-positive ***,this paper proposes an approach to detect low-rate DDoS attacks on the SDN controller by adapting a dynamic *** proposed approach has been evaluated using four simulation scenarios covering a combination of low-rate DDoS attacks against the SDN controller involving(i)a single host attack targeting a single victim;(ii)a single host attack targeting multiple victims;(iii)multiple hosts attack targeting a single victim;and(iv)multiple hosts attack targeting multiple *** proposed approach’s average detection rates are 96.65%,91.83%,96.17%,and 95.33%for the above scenarios,respectively;and its average false-positive rates are 3.33%,8.17%,3.83%,and 4.67%for similar scenarios,*** comparison between the proposed approach and two existing approaches showed that it outperformed them in both categories.

software-defined networking(SDN),with segregated data and control planes,provides faster data routing,stability,and enhanced quality metrics,such as throughput(Th),maximum available bandwidth(Bd(max)),data transfer(DTransfer),and reduction in end-to-end delay(D(E-E)).This paper explores the critical work of deploying SDN in large-scale Data Center Networks(DCNs)to enhance its Quality of Service(QoS)parameters,using logically distributed control *** is a noticeable increase in Delay(E-E)when adopting SDN with a unified(single)control structure in big DCNs to handle Hypertext Transfer Protocol(HTTP)requests causing a reduction in network quality parameters(Bd(max),Th,DTransfer,D(E-E),etc.).This article examines the network performance in terms of quality matrices(bandwidth,throughput,data transfer,etc.),by establishing a large-scale SDN-based virtual network in the Mininet *** SDN network is simulated in three stages:(1)An SDN network with unitary controller-POX to manage the data traffic flow of the network without the server load management algorithm.(2)An SDN network with only one controller to manage the data traffic flow of the network with a server load management algorithm.(3)Deployment of SDN in proposed control arrangement(logically distributed controlled framework)with multiple controllers managing data traffic flow under the proposed Intelligent Sensing Server Load Management(ISSLM)*** a result of this approach,the network quality parameters in large-scale networks are enhanced.

A Novel Load Balancing Strategy of software-defined Cloud/Fog networking in the Internet of Vehicles

The Internet of Vehicles(IoV)has been widely researched in recent years,and cloud computing has been one of the key technologies in the *** cloud computing provides high performance compute,storage and networking services,the IoV still suffers with high processing latency,less mobility support and location *** this paper,we integrate fog computing and software defined networking(SDN) to address those *** computing extends computing and storing to the edge of the network,which could decrease latency remarkably in addition to enable mobility support and location ***,SDN provides flexible centralized control and global knowledge to the *** order to apply the software defined cloud/fog networking(SDCFN) architecture in the IoV effectively,we propose a novel SDN-based modified constrained optimization particle swarm optimization(MPSO-CO) algorithm which uses the reverse of the flight of mutation particles and linear decrease inertia weight to enhance the performance of constrained optimization particle swarm optimization(PSO-CO).The simulation results indicate that the SDN-based MPSO-CO algorithm could effectively decrease the latency and improve the quality of service(QoS) in the SDCFN architecture.

Intelligent Orchestrating of IoT Microservices Based on Reinforcement Learning

With the recent increase in the number of Internet of things(IoT) services, an intelligent scheduling strategy is needed to manage these services. In this paper, the problem of automatic choreography of microservices in IoT is explored. A type of reinforcement learning(RL) algorithm called TD3 is used to generate the optimal choreography policy under the framework of a softwaredefined network. The optimal policy is gradually reached during the learning procedure to achieve the goal, despite the dynamic characteristics of the network environment. The simulation results show that compared with other methods, the TD3 algorithm converges faster after a certain number of iterations, and it performs better than other non-RL algorithms by obtaining the highest reward. The TD3 algorithm can effciently adjust the traffic transmission path and provide qualified IoT services.

A tool for tracing network data plane via SDN/OpenFlow

SDN provides an approach to create desired network forwarding plane by programming *** a large-scale SDN network comprised of multiple domains and running multiple controller applications, it is difficult to measure and diagnose the problems of flow tables in data plane. Tracing the forwarding path of SDN is one of effective way for data plane state measurement. Previously proposed methods for debugging SDN were applied to a single administrative domain. There is less effort to trace the flow entries of the data plane in large-scale multi-domain SDN networks. In this paper, we propose a method of software defined data plane tracing in large-scale multi-domain SDN networks. Our method can trace forwarding paths, and get the matched flow entries and other customized trace information. We present the designs compatible with Open Flow 1.0 and1.3 switches. The performance and deployment effect are evaluated by simulation test and analysis. It shows that our method has better performance than traditional IP traceroute, and its deployment at about 20% of AS nodes can enable 70% of AS paths to be traceable.

Flow Stealer: lightweight load balancing by stealing flows in distributed SDN controllers

software-defined networking(SDN) introduces centralized controllers to increase network programmability drastically. Distributed control planes, in which multiple SDN controllers work together to manage a network, have been proposed to satisfy the requirements of large-scale networks, and different kinds of load-balancing approaches have been proposed to balance the workloads among these controllers. Current load-balancing approaches generally use switch migration, which adjusts the mapping between switches and controllers dynamically according to controller workloads. These switch migration-based approaches face challenges under burst traffic as a result of their overhead and longer detection periods. This paper proposes Flow Stealer,a lightweight load-balancing method for distributed SDN controllers. Flow Stealer uses a low-cost flow-stealing method, in which idle controllers share workloads temporarily with overloaded controllers by stealing flow events from them. The flow-stealing method not only can react to changes of network traffic more quickly, but can also reduce the frequency of switch migration. In addition, Flow Stealer incorporates both flow stealing and switch migration to adapt to burst traffic and long-term traffic changes. Experimental results show that Flow Stealer can balance the workloads among controllers more efficiently, especially under burst traffic.
