Relationships between application layer protocols in softswitch are explored in this *** notions, *** relationship and protocol grouping, are proposed, which are not clearly defined and even not paid much attention to *** the basis of a well known protocol relationship named protocol conversion, three novel protocol relationships including protocol collaboration relationship, protocol cooperation relationship and protocol independent relationship are presented, so that protocol relationships are classified into four *** to the functionality and purpose of each protocol, main protocols related to softswitch are divided into five *** to protocol conversion in softswitch, information flow trail(IFT) is utilized to facilitate problem solving.A decision rule for protocol conversion mode is proposed to guide how to choose between direct conversion and indirect conversion.A property of protocol relationships in softswitch is induced from all kinds of service scenarios of *** property summarizes protocol relationships within each protocol group or between two specific protocol groups.A merit of protocol grouping together with classification of protocol relationship is also *** effort of this paper pushes the protocol engineering to go ahead.

In this paper, architecture of softswitch-based Next Generation Network (NGN) system and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) are studied briefly, and the problems on the openness and extensibility of normal remote video-monitoring system (RVMS) are analyzed. Then a RVMS framework model based on softswitch is given. Furthermore, designation and realization of the system based on T 6000 softswitch Platform is provided. The innovation is considering the RVMS as a part of softswitch system. It is a feasible scheme for implementing next generation video-monitoring system based on broadband IP technique.

This paper presents the design and implementation of the policy management layer of the softswitch system, which is currently under development in our lab. The distinguish key feature of our policy management subsystem is that the Parlay policy management architecture and the specific technical requirements of softswitch system management are closely incorporated. In this way, not only network providers but also authorized 3rd party application providers and application developers can develop services and applications to manage the access and use of network resources on a per user or application basis to best support established business objectives. The material presented in this document is heavily based on the work of Parlay policy management and IETF policy framework working group.

Based on the system feature of softswitch-based heterogeneous clustered media server, this paper proposed a limited resource vector load-balancing algorithm. The purpose of the algorithm was to balance the load of clusters by utilizing all system resources effectively and to avoid violent shaking of the system per- formance. A lot of simulations on the Petri net model of load balance system are conducted and the algorithm is compared with some traditional algorithms on balancing ability for heterogeneity, system throughput, re- quest response time and performance stability. The results of simulations show that the algorithm achieves system higher performance and it has excellent ability to deal with the heterogeneity of clustered media server.
