sodium sulfate(Na2SO4)is a readily available chlorine-free source of sodium,which could be used to reduce sodium chloride to maintain the ratio between chlorine and sodium in poultry *** supplementation with excessive levels of Na2SO4 might be detrimental to bird's health and per-formance.A subchronic study was carried out to investigate the potential adverse effects of an accidental oversupply of Na2SO4 in the diets of laying *** hundred and fifty 21-week-old Hy-Line White layers were randomly assigned to 5 treatments with 6 *** birds were fed diets supplemented with 0(control),0.3%,0.6%,1.5%,and 3.0%Na2SO4 for 8 *** perfor-mance,egg quality parameters,clinical blood parameters,histopathology,intestinal barrier func-tions,and intestinal microflora composition were *** clinical signs of intoxication or mortality were observed during the experimental *** results of this study showed that the optimal levels of Na2SO4(0.3%to 0.6%)significantly improved the laying rates,average daily egg mass,and eggshell quality of hens compared to the control(P<0.05).However,3.0%Na2SO4 produced negative effects on laying performance,eggshell quality,blood biochemistry,and partic-ularly on liver and kidney pathology,and intestinal morphology and barrier functions compared with the *** minor changes were observed in clinical blood parameters of hens receiving 1.5%Na2SO4,these were not considered to be of toxicological significance due to the absence of any organ pathological changes in *** conclusion,our results indicated that a Na2SO4 concentration of 1.5%was non-deleterious to laying hens after a daily administration for 56 d,namely that dietary supplementation of up to 5 times the maximum recommended dose is safely tolerated by laying hens.

sodium sulfate as an electrolyte additive was studied via electrochemical methods including linear sweep voltammetry（LSV）, cyclic voltammetry（CV） and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） to deeply understand its effect on the hydrogen evolution current and overpotential as well as the formation and structure of anodic passi- vation films on lead surface during the redox processes. The results achieved will be valuable to improve the cycle life and maintenance-free properties of lead-acid batteries.

The main objective of this paper focuses on the changes that occur in the strength and microstructural properties of sodium silicate activated fly ash based geopolymer due to varying the sulfate salt and water content.A series of tests including X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,scanning electron microscopy,physical adsorption and unconfined compressive strength were used to investigate this *** results indicate that the higher water content has an adverse effect on the alkali activation and microstructural properties of geopolymer,so the optimum mass ratio of sodium sulfate in alkali-activated geopolymer under different water-to-binder ratios shows a“peak shifting”phenomenon,i.e.,the higher the water-to-binder ratio,the higher the optimum mass *** presence of sodium sulfate has no significant effect on the alkali-activated geopolymer systems;higher addition of sodium sulfate,however,could cause the symmetrical stretching vibration of Si—O and the symmetrical stretching vibration of Si—O—Si and Al—O—Si,and promote the formation of N-A-S-H ***,the cement effect of the gel and sodium sulfate aggregate could improve the integrity of pore structure *** maximum strength of geopolymer curing at ambient temperature was 52 *** study obtains the rule that the strength properties of alkali-activated geopolymers vary with the water-to-binder ratio and sodium sulfate *** feasibility of geopolymer co-activated by sodium sulfate and sodium silicate was investigated,and reference for engineering application of alkali-activated geopolymer in salt-bearing areas was provided.

A novel process is proposed which uses aqueous dichromate solution as working medium through decomposition of calcium carbonate in aqueous sodium dichromate complex decomposition of aqueous sodium sulfate and calcium chromate regeneration of sodium dichromate and production of sodium bicarbonate from carbonation of aqueous sodium chromate solution processing and utilization of byproduct calcium sulfate and production of sodium carbonate from sodium bicarbonate. The process has the features of less corrosion and pollution and low energy consumption.

Preparation and Characterization of sodium sulfate/Silica Composite as a Shape-stabilized Phase Change Material by Sol-gel Method

A sodium sulfate （NaeSO4）/silica （SiO2） composite was prepared as a shape-stabilized solid-liquid phase change material by a sol-gel procedure using Na2SiO3 as the silica source. Na2SO4 in the composite acts as a latent heat storage substance for solid-liquid phase change, while SiO2 acts as a support material to provide structural strength and prevent leakage of melted NazSO4. The microstructure and composition of the prepared composite were characterized by the N2 adsorption, transmission electron microscope （TEM）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and X-ray diffraction. The results show that the prepared Na2SOJSiO2 composite is a nanostructured hybrid of NazSO4 and SiO2 without new substances produced during the phase change. The macroscopic shape of the NazSO4/SiO2 composite after the melting and freezing cycles does not change and there is no leakage of Na2SO4. Determined by differential scanning calorimeter （DSC） analysis, the values of phase change latent heat of melting and freezing of the prepared NazSO4/SiO2 （50%, by mass） composite are 82.3 *** i and 83.7 ***-1, and temperatures of melting and freezing are 886.0 ℃ and 880.6 ℃, respectively. Furthermore, the Na2SOJSiO2 composite maintains good thermal energy storage and release ability even after 100 cycles of melting and freezing. The satisfactory thermal storage performance renders this composite a versatile tool for high-temperature thermal energy storage.

The double salt of glucosamine sulfate sodium chloride(glucosamine-SP) is an important pharmaceuticals ingredient for healing osteoarthritis. However, the study about its industrial production is rarely documented, let alone the optimization over the whole process to produce glucosamine-SP using glucosamine hydrochloride and anhydrous sodium sulfate as synthetic raw materials. In order to improve the production efficiency, this study screened the process parameters based on the concept of quality by design(QbD), optimized 13 operational parameters related to reaction and separation in the process, and finally proposed the mixed dropping process. The reaction conditions for the preparation of glucosamineSP were found as follows: the molar ratio of anhydrous sodium sulfate to glucosamine hydrochloride is 0.42, the mass ratio of water to glucosamine hydrochloride is is 2.0, the reaction temperature is 50 ℃ and the reaction time is 1 h. Through step-by-step scaling up following QbD, the mixed dropping process was successfully applied to achieve a trial production of 200 kg products satisfying national quality *** all, the results of this study have high technical value and guiding significance for the industrial mass production of glucosamine-SP.

The solubilities of 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid monohydrate and sodium 2-naphthalenesulfonate in sulfuric acid solutions were measured at temperatures ranging from 278,15 to 338.15 K by using a dynamic method. The concentration of sulfuric acid solution ranged from 0 to 80wt%. The solubilities of 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid monohydrate and sodium 2-naphthalenesulfonate increased with temperature, and both of them were the lowest at 70wt% of sulfuric acid solution （ w3 0 = 0.70） while the highest in pure water. The solubility data were correlated by the modified Apelblat equation. Based on the solubility difference between 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid monohydrate and sodium 2-naphthalenesulfonate, a new technique in which sodium sulfate was used to replace sodium sulfite in the neutralization reaction was developed. The suitable mole ratio of H20 to Na2SO4 in the neutralization reaction was 80 ： 1, and that of 2-naphthalenesulfonic acid monohydrate to Na2SO4 was 3.2 ： 1. The material balance under the suitable mole ratios was given and discussed.

Recovery of Iron From High-Iron Red Mud by Reduction Roasting With Adding sodium Salt

Red mud is the waste generated during aluminum production from bauxite, containing lots of iron and other valuable metals. In order to recover iron from red mud, the technology of adding sodium carbonate—reduction roasting—magnetic separation to treat high-iron red mud was developed. The effects of sodium carbonate dosage, reduction temperature and reduction time on the qualities of final product and the phase transformations in reduction process were discussed in detail. The results showed that the final product (mass percent), assaying Fe of 90.87% and Al2O3 of 0.95% and metallization degree of 94.28% was obtained at an overall iron recovery of 95.76% under the following conditions of adding 8% sodium carbonate, reduction roasting at 1 050 ℃ for 80 min and finally magnetic separation of the reduced pellets by grinding up to 90% passing 0.074 mm at magnetic field intensity of 0.08 T. The XRD (X-ray diffraction) results indicated that the iron oxides were transformed into metallic iron. Most of aluminum mineral and silica mineral reacted with sodium carbonate during the reduction roasting and formed nonmagnetic materials.
