Most finite element models of small arms focus on an idealized barrel,typically one with a perfectly straight bore *** five different experimentally measured bore centerlines,this investigation analyzes the effect centerline nonlinearity has on projectile exit *** includes the effect of rotating a centerline through several *** using Abaqus/Explicit,this dynamic analysis simulates a single firing cycle for each *** jump is calculated for each model as a measure of the effects of warped *** warped centerlines have a small effect on barrel dynamics.

Malaysia as the Crossing Point for Illicit Trafficking of small arms and Light Weapons {：SALW） to Indonesia： Issues and Challenges

Indonesia, as the largest archipelagic state in the world, shares maritimeborders with many countries including Malaysia in the Straits of Malacca, the South China Sea and the Celebes Sea. Because of its geopolitical location these borders are very porous and, as a consequence, are highly difficult to monitor and control, making it vulnerable spots for illegal activities such as arms smuggling. This paper aims to examine the challenges faced by Indonesia and Malaysia in dealing with the main security border issues. The paper then concludes that Malaysia has become the main route for small arms illicit trafficking from other Southeast Asian countries to Indonesia＇s conflict areas. Indonesia and Malaysia face an enormous challenge, particularly in view of the recent happenings in conflict zones and the increasingly need to secure their common borders.

To improve the design level of small arms and make the most of virtual prototyping （VP） and multidisciplinary design optimization （MDO）, this article analyzed the common requirements in developing modern small arms, introduced the application of VP and MDO in developing small arms, point out the insufficiencies in traditional and actual methods, proposed a collaborative design method of colligating VP and MDO. On the basis of the analysis about the process of VP ＆ MDO and in terms of the idea of driving the design process by MDO, a detailed thought and method of integrating VP ＆ MDO was suggested, and the platform and flow for designing small arms were introduced. In exemplifying a certain type of machine-gun, an integrated analyzing process as well as its corresponded model was put forward. Optimization results that aimed at the firing accuracy were also derived in the same time and the gun’s firing system was optimized. Instance showed that it was feasible to apply VP and MDO collaboratively to develop small arms. It could help to improve design efficiency, shorten the time of production developing;reduce the costs and the danger of experiments, and improve the character and quality of products. To take advantage of displaying the dynamic character of VP, the changes in MDO process were expressed intuitively.
