Inkjet printing has emerged as a potential solution processing method for large-area patterned films.During inkjet printing,a single droplet without satellite droplet is required for high-quality film.Herein,we propose a strategy for obtaining a single droplet by adjusting the reduced concentration(c/c^(*),where c^(*)is the critical overlap concentration)in the range of 1.0-1.5.droplet formation can be categorized into three distinct regimes:(1)c/c^(*)droplet;(2)c/c^(*)=1.0-1.5,single droplet;(3)c/c^(*)>2.0,no droplet.Furthermore,an inertial-capillary balance led to the 2/3-power scaling of the minimum radius with time for the solutions of c/c^(*)droplets.Consequently,a single droplet was formed.In addition,the law can be successfully generalized to various molecular weights,molecular structures and solvents.

This study evaluates the single droplet drying(SDD)of detergents.Experimental data are used to validate a theoretical multistage model.The experiments are carried out in an acoustic levitator analysing six different detergent formulations at 393 K.The work is completed by developing a model based on conservation equations.The model is composed of the three stages observed in the drying curve.In the first stage,an external surface drying stage occurs until the surface is saturated and the crust is formed.In the next stage,the drying rate is governed by diffusion through the pores.At the same time,the particle heats up until boiling conditions are achieved in the core of the particle.At this point,the third stage begins.In the final stage,the droplet core is in boiling conditions which are governed by the pressure drop through the crust and the concentration of salts.This model has been evaluated for the different formulations being flexible to predict the drying of different mixtures with good accuracy.

For drop-on-demand(DOD)inkjet printing,stable and single ink droplet fo rmation without satellite dots is the key to improve the print quality.The formation of stable and single droplet is influenced by filament break up and the polymer chain’s coil-stretch transition behavior.In this paper,the droplet formation behaviors of polyfluorene(PFO)ink at various driving voltages(V),polymer chain’s coil-stretch transition mechanism and its effects on single ink droplet formation are investigated.It indicates that when 5863 V,Wi>0.5,the PFO molecular chain is stretched because of the high hydrodynamic forces,resulting unwanted satellite droplets.When 55droplet shrinks into the nozzle,which indicates that the kinetic energy supplied by the deformation of the piezoelectric transducer isn't enough to force thedroplet to be jetted from the nozzle.

From single droplet to Column Design

The technique state to design counter-current extraction columns is based on the performance of pilot plant experiments. The modelling is then either with the equilibrium or dispersion model, whereas in the latter the dispersion coefficient accounts for all hydrodynamic non-idealities. A new approach uses single droplet experiments to obtain the basic laws and functions governing droplet breakage, coalescence, relative velocity, and axial dispersion when using droplet populance balance models （DPBM）. The hydrodynamics simulation results show that the mean Sauter diameter, hold-up, and concentration profiles could be well predicted, which promotes the use of DPBM models for further applications in industrial scale.
