Presented the fiber Bragg grating （FBG） sensors for rock strain monitoring in the 1.2 m long plane stress model of the simulation experiment. In the past, for the lack of appropriate technique to measure the deformation of rock structures, the measurement of deflection was restricted to just a few discrete points along rock, and the measuring points were limited to the location installed with displacement transducers. We developed a method to monitor the deformation of rock structures using fiber optical Bragg grating strain sensors. The sensors were embedded in rock layers of simulation experiment before the materials were put in. These sensors were then used to monitor the experienced strain with different face advancing distance. The test results indicate that, if properly installed, FBG sensors can survive under severe conditions associated with embedment process and yield accurate measurements of strains response. At the same time, we make comparisons of the data obtained by FBG sensors with those by centesimal gauge. The interest in FBG sensors was motivated by the potential advantages that they can offer more than existing sensing technologies.

Thermochemical sulfate reduction (TSR) in geological deposits can account for the accumulation of H2S in deep sour gas reservoirs. In this paper, thermal simulation experiments on the reaction of CH4-CaSO4 were carried out using an autoclave at high temperatures and high pressures. The products were characterized with analytical methods including carbon isotope analysis. It is found that the reaction can proceed to produce H2S, H2O and CaCO3 as the main products. Based on the experimental results, the carbon kinetic isotope fractionation was investigated, and the value of Ki (kinetic isotope effect) was calculated. The results obtained in this paper can provide useful information to explain the occurrence of H2S in deep carbonate gas reservoirs.

Simulative technology for auxiliary fuel tank separation in a wind tunnel

In this paper, we propose a simulative experimental system in wind tunnel conditions lbr the separation of auxiliary fuel tanks from an aircraft. The experimental system consists of a simulative release mechanism, a scaled model and a pose measuring system. A new release mechanism was designed to ensure stability of the separation. Scaled models of the auxiliary fuel tank were designed and their moment of inertia was adjusted by installing counterweights inside the model. Pose param- eters of the scaled model were measured and calculated by a binocular vision system. Additionally, in order to achieve high brightness and high signal-to-noise ratio of the images in the dark enclosed wind tunnel, a new high-speed image acquisition method based on miniature self-emitting units was pre- sented. Accuracy of the pose measurement system and repeatability of the separation mechanism were verified in the laboratory. Results show that the position precision of the pose measurement system can reach 0.1 mm, the precision of the pitch and yaw angles is less than 0.1° and that of the roll angle can be up to 0.3°. Besides, repeatability errors of models＂ velocity and angular velocity controlled by the release mechanism remain small, satisfying the measurement requirements. Finally, experiments for the separation of auxiliary fuel tanks were conducted in the laboratory.

To understand the thermal evolution of lacustrine sedimentary n-alkane hydrogen isotopic composition(δD),especially bacterially derived n-alkanes,anhydrous thermal simulation experiments were performed with sediments from Lake Gahai(Gannan,China).We analyzed the original and pyrolysis-generated n-alkanes and theirδD *** results showed that thermal maturity and n-alkane origins significantly affected the distribution of pyrolysis-generated *** immature to post-mature sediments,the bacterial-derived medium-chain n-alkanes generally had depletedδD *** maximum difference in averageδD values between the bacterial-and herbaceous plant-derived medium-chain n-alkanes was 32‰,and the maximum difference in δD values among individual n-alkanes was 59‰.We found that the averageδD value of pyrolysis-generated n-alkanes from different latitude was significantly different in immature to highly mature sediments,but similar in post-mature *** hydrogen isotopes of sedimentary n-alkanes can be used as indicators for paleoclimate/paleo-environment conditions only when sediments are immature to highly *** thermal evolution,the δD value of generated individual n-alkanes and the averageδD value increased with thermal maturity,indicating that hydrogen isotopes of sedimentary n-alkanes can be used as an index of organic matter *** established mathematical models of average δD values of generated n-alkanes from immature to post-mature sediments using n C_(21)^(-)/nC_(21)^(+)and average chain *** results improve our understanding of the distribution andδD value of sedimentary n-alkanes derived from herbaceous plants in mid-latitude plateau cold regions.
