Modulated Photon Emission of Eu^3＋ in microsphere Cavity

Fused silica microsphere with a few Eu^3＋ ions on the equator is fabricated. The photon emission sharply modulated by whispering gallery （WG） modes is observed under excitation of 395 nm laser, which is in agreement with the prediction in theory. The quality factor of the WG modes in microsphere is estimated larger than 3000 from the emission spectrum, which is limited by our monochrometer. It proves that pumping Eu^3＋ in microsphere cavity in free space is feasible, and this system seems suitable for realizing strong coupling in future quantum computation purposes.

The monodisperse colloidal microspheres of silica were fabricated by a modified st?ber method,andtunable structural color films were self-assemblied on the surface of glass slidebyvertical deposition ***-IR spectrum and XRD patterns under different heated temperatures show the powder is amorphous silica in this *** and zeta potential values of silica colloidal microspheres increase changing with the adding amount of *** relative standard deviation of silica microsphere was improved from 6.42%to 2.73%with the differential centrifugation *** of SEM show the fabricated colloidal films are face centered cubic structure when there are appropriate deposition *** to the Bragg diffraction on the surface of colloidal particle arrays,the diameter of silicamicrospheresfrom 229 nm to 393 nm appear different colors ranging in entire visible spectrum from blue to red,and the diameter of a certain amount that more than 400 nm exhibit a darker blue and green colors in the near-infrared spectrum.
