Being Human in a More-Than-Human World:Between a silence Catalyst for(Re)Aestheticization and an Art Catalyst for Relationships

The contribution moves from highlighting how,in the context of Michel Serres’and posthumanism’s proposal of rethinking the human and the world in a perspective of inter-implication and universal co-belonging,silence(of the human word)assumes the function of a catalyst for the recognition/re-aestheticization of the human body in its sensory-aesthetic-cognitive-relational-hybrid dimensionality,and,with and for it,of the world in its agency(including artistic).Within the framework of this perspective,the investigation thus proposes a reading of art as a relation/catalyzer of relations,that is,as a(re)activation of positive relations of the human with and for a world that reveals itself to be increasingly hyper-complex,that is,more-than-human,in the continuity/inseparability of nature and culture.Taking Serresian ideas on artistic practices as non(only)human forms of expression and posthumanist“isomorphic”positions on non-human agency as tools,the research then highlights the“more-than-human”scope of art and the fact that artistic practices are responsive actions.So much so that,the human being emerges as co-agent and,of course,co-owner.

What is peculiar about Hans Jonas’concept of God after Auschwitz?How is it distinguishable from that of the proponents of process philosophy?By way of analysis and valuation,this article argues that Jonas’contribution on the silence of God at Auschwitz proposes a unique solution to the question of theodicy which excludes the atheism and relativism often characteristic of modern philosophical speculation on the subject.At the same time,his concept of God remains compatible with humankind’s existential experience of suffering.In the face of evil,Jonas charges man with the responsibility of“preserving life”,a theme that is central to his thought.

"No Name Woman",written by Maxine Hong Kingston,depicts different life of Chinese or Chinese American women.They go through different life experiences,but their life experiences reflect the same attitude toward life that is silence.Is silence effective or not?By analyzing the textual contents,life experience of the aunt combining with contemporary social environment,the paper argues that silence is an effective resistance against patriarchal system.It illuminates the ways that resistance not only relies on violence,but also on silence and sometimes silence is more powerful than violence.

中国古代阐释有一个从“无言”到“言说”的发生逻辑。古代思想家相信大道至简的道理，也甘愿处在无言的位置，但迫于现实的需要不得不担负起言说的职责。结果就是把“道”从一个实践范畴转换为言说的对象，同时也表明了古代阐释的公共性及其话语实践品格。从“无言”到先秦子学的“谈辨”，再到汉以来经典解释学的形成，言说方式的调整伴随着士人与君权之间的力量消长，而阐释行为就发生在为了说服天下人之心从而不断地追加言说、证成己说的过程中，毋宁说就是古代知识阶层通过话语建构的方式引领社会政治文化方向的必由之路。

An Analysis of Heathcliff's silence in Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff is a highly controversial character in Emily Bront 's canon Wuthering Heights. He is depicted as an incredi ble conglomeration of enigmas and simplicity, aloofness and affinity, ferocity and vulnerability, inhumanity and heroicity, a man who appears more silent and preoccupied than talkative and carefree, inaudible and incalculable in both words and thoughts. The author of this paper considers that there is much left to be read and contemplate on in Heathcliff's silence and thus make a tempa tive research into Heathcliff's silence by discerning its manifestations and probing its causes, in order to resonate with the inner touch of this complicated soul and relate his silence with the spirit that Emily Bront wished to deliver through Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff's silence manifests as muteness, elusion and colloquial or physical violence. In his whole life, Heathcliff inter mittently experiences the self-chosen silence and the forced silence. He chooses to be silence out of self-protection and the infe riority complex; he considers silence as a token of masculinity. And the ruthless force from outside also compels him into a periph eralized situation where he has to keep silent and struggles against the torture and torment alone.

This study is aimed at the common classroom silence phenomenon in contemporary college English class. First of all, thispaper explains the meaning of silence from the pragmatic point of view, and takes the students in the Xi’an Innovation College ofYan’an University for instance. Based on a questionnaire survey of 200 students in the Xi’an Innovation College of Yan’an Univer-sity, the reasons are analyzed from two perspectives of teachers and students. This paper makes an analysis of all kinds of factors,so as to put forward effective solutions to eliminate the classroom silence.
