In this study,990 preschool children of 3-to 6-year-old were selected as participants to explore the influence of shyness and unsociability on peer play behavior in preschool children,focusing on the mediating and moderating roles of *** study employed the Child Social Preference Scale,Children’s Playfulness Scale,and Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale to assess the *** findings indicate that preschool children’s shyness and unsociability negatively predict their play interaction and positively predict their play disruption and play *** partially mediates and moderates the relationships between shyness and unsociability with peer play *** promote the social development of shy and unsociable preschool children,it is imperative for teachers and parents to respect and accept the characteristics of children,guide them in adopting positive problem-solving strategies,and improve their playfulness.

在人际交往中羞怯是一种普遍存在的现象,西方关于羞怯的系统研究始于上世纪70年代。中国从上世纪末开始关注这一问题,但对"shyness"这一基本术语的翻译却较为混乱并存在分歧:有的学者将其译为"羞怯",有的则译作"害羞",究竟哪种译法更准确、更切合shyness的本意?这不仅是一个简单的翻译问题,更涉及到对概念的准确把握及跨文化比较研究中文化对等的要求。本文通过对西方"shyness"概念的梳理及对"羞怯"、"害羞"等词语的中文词源学考证发现,"羞怯"这一译法更接近"shyness"的本意,达致概念互译上的对等。

高考新政下英语梗概写作思考——以shyness的梗概写作为例

The present study aimed to explore the mediating effects of loneliness, depression, and self-esteem on the relationship between shyness and generalised pathological Internet use(GPIU). A total of 5,215 school students completed questionnaires regarding shyness, loneliness, depression, self-esteem, and GPIU. The self-reported scores for GPIU, shyness, loneliness, depression, and self-esteem were tested in students from elementary schools to universities. The results of a variance analysis indicated that senior high school students had the greatestprevalence of GPIU of all of the study stages. With the study stages resolved, the results of a structural equation model(SEM) revealed that:(a) shyness positively predicted GPIU;(b) shyness/loneliness/depression predicted GPIU through self-esteem;(c) shyness predicted GPIU though loneliness/depression → self-esteem;and(d) shyness predicted GPIU though loneliness → depression → self-esteem. Overall, these findings provide important implications for the prevention and intervention of GPIU in Chinese school students.

Personality has been observed in a variety of animal taxa with important implications in ecology and *** the influence of environmental temperature during early life on personality could help to understand the ontogeny of this phenotypic trait in *** this study,we reared newborn mosquitofish Gambusia affinis at high(30C)and low(25C)water temperatures and measured their shyness and exploration upon sexual *** tested the repeatability of each behavioral trait;the correlation between them;and the effects of rearing temperature,sex,and body length on the *** growing up at low temperatures,female fish exhibited repeatability in shyness and exploration,and males exhibited marginal repeatability in ***,neither of the 2 behaviors were repeatable when the fish were reared at high *** was a negative correlation between shyness and exploration,indicating that the 2 behaviors comprise a behavioral syndrome in this *** reared at high temperatures were more explorative than those reared at low temperatures,while there was no difference in shyness between the 2 *** length and sex had no significant effects on the average values of the 2 *** results indicate that environmental temperature during early life could shape the personality of mosquitofish and modify the average of the behavioral *** findings might provide insights to understand the ontogeny of animal personality and how changes in environmental temperature influence animal dispersal by shaping their personality.

Boldness is defined as the tendency of an individual to take risks when exposed to novel objects or situations. The main aim of this work was to dilucidate if boldness was related to the development of the secondary sexual traits （SSTs） in the male of the fiver blenny Salariafluviatilis, a freshwater fish which takes care of eggs. As a second objective SSTs effect on pa rental status adoption was also be explored. Wild young fish were caught in the Segre River （Ebro basin） in November 2010. Fish were kept in five aquaria in groups of eight males and eight females with artificial nests. Boldness （boldness score and hesitancy） of males （initially with little SSTs development） was tested as the time required to exit a refuge when exposed to a new environ ment. Fish were mantained in the same aquaria for several months, and males＇ SSTs development and reproductive behaviour were monitored. Boldness score was negatively associated to cephalic crest development. Hesitancy was negatively related to male length and was also influenced by the interaction between male length and cephalic crest. Parental status acquisition was positively related to the male＇s length, marginally related to anal gland development, and nonrelated to cephalic crest. These re sults suggest an intrasexual role of the crest as an informative trait of boldness （honest signal） which might not necessarily be chosen by the females. It is also discussed that correlational selection could be responsible for linking boldness and growth rate in this species. Sexual selection, in addition to having directed the evolution of secondary sexual traits, might have favored certain personality traits （e.g. boldness） associated with the achievement of a larger body length .

Experienced classroom educators are familiar with students commonly thought of as introverted or shy— the noticeably quiet students who are reluctant to speak in class, and generally shun the spotlight. Many educators find such students perplexing and frustrating because they rarely raise their hands in class, or engage in conversation afterward. It is difficult for educators to discern whether they are reaching such students or whether they are engaged or bored. Introverted students differ from their more extroverted peers in terms of information processing, classroom behavior, and preferences regarding assignments and activities. As educators, we often ask ourselves whether we are doing all we can, as educators and advisers, to foster such students’ learning and personal development, and this question is highly relevant in contemporary education. Introverts are thought to comprise approximately 40 percent of the student body. In addition, cultural background may foster behaviors similar to those observed in shy and/or introverted individuals. In this article, introversion, extroversion and shyness are compared and contrasted conceptually, as well as in terms of related social and academic behaviors and processes. The questions of whether introversion and shyness confer problematic traits, whether students should be helped to overcome or signature strengths, and whether they might be guided to develop further, are also addressed. Best practice guidelines intended to help nurse-faculty respond more helpfully to quiet students as educators and advisors are offered.
