Chloranthus serratus is widely distributed throughout southern China as a traditional Chinese medicine called ’si-kuai-wa’ to treat blood stasis,inflammatory swelling and for drainage and detoxification. sesquiterpenoid dimers are the major and characteristic metabolites of the Chloranthus serratus. Chloraserrtone A(1),a novel sesquiterpenoid dimer with two lindenane-type sesquiterpenoid monomers bridged by two six-membered rings,was discovered from the roots of Chloranthus *** structure of 1 was elucidated by a combination of spectroscopic analyses,such as UV,IR,NMR,HRESIMIS and X-ray *** on this structure,we proposed a possible chemical route for the biosynthesis of Chloraserrtone A This new compound 1,together with 10 other co-isolated known lindenane dimers(2-11) were evaluated for their inhibitory effects on the LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells,and 6 showed marked activities with an IC value of 3.71 μM.

Three new carabrane sesquiterpenoid derivatives from the whole plant of Carpesium abrotanoides L.

Dicarabrols B and C(1 and 2),two new carabrane sesquiterpenoid dimers,along with one new carabrane sesquiterpenoid(3)were isolated from the whole plant of Carpesium abrotanoides *** full structures were established by extensive analysis of HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectroscopic data,and time-dependent density functional theory(TDDFT)electronic circular dichroism(ECD)*** B possesses a novel C30 skeleton featuring a methylene-tethered bridge between two sesquiterpene moieties,while dicarabrol C presents the unique linkage of a cyclopentane ring in the *** C exhibited potent inhibitory effects on HL−60 cells with an IC50 value of 3.7μmol·L^(−1).
