Association Anal.sis for Qual.ty Traits in a Diverse Panel.of Chinese Sesame(sesamum indicum l.)Germpl.sm

The main objective of this study was to eval.ate the potential.of a sesame （sesamum indicum l.） panel.for association anal.sis, and investigate the genetic basis of oil.content （OC）, protein content, ol.ic acid concentration, and l.nol.ic acid concentration using association mapping. A panel.of 216 sesame accessions was phenotyped in a mul.i-environment trial.and fingerprinted with 608 pol.morphic l.ci produced by 79 primers, incl.ding simpl. sequence repeats （SSRs）, sequence-rel.ted ampl.fied pol.morphisms （SRAPs）, and ampl.fied fragment l.ngth pol.morphisms （AFl.s）. Popul.tion structure anal.sis reveal.d two subgroups in the popul.tion. The Q model.performed better for its abil.ty to re-identify associations for the four traits at highl. significant P-val.es compared to the other three mixed model.. And a total.of 35 and 25 associations for the four traits in 2010 and 2011 were identified, respectivel., with the Q model.after Bonferroni correction. Among those associations, onl. one for OC was re-identified in two environments, and several.markers associated simul.aneousl. with mul.ipl. traits were discovered. These resul.s suggest the power and stabil.ty of the Q model.for association anal.sis of nutritional.traits in this sesame panel.for its sl.ght popul.tion stratification and famil.al.rel.tionship, which coul. aid in dissecting compl.x traits, and coul. hel. to devel.p strategies for improving nutritional.qual.ty.

Combined Effects of Compost,Supraxone and l.mbda-Super on Soil.Microbial.Activity under Pl.vial.Cul.ivation of Sesame(sesamum indicum l.)in Burkina Faso

Sesame cul.ivation is strategic for the economy of Burkina Faso. Indeed, after cotton, sesame is the second most important agricul.ural.product for exportation. However, its production is l.mited by pl.nt diseases and pest attacks. Facing this situation, l.rge amounts of pesticides are used to boost productivity. But, these chemical. have a negative impact on soil.fertil.ty. In this instance, the effects of Supraxone and l.mbda-super in the presence of compost on soil.microbial.activity under rainfed sesame cul.ivation in a peasant environment were studied. The experiment design was a bl.ck of Fisher (BCR) comparing the non-treated parcel.(TNT) to the parcel.amended onl. with compost (C) and to the parcel.amended with compost and treated with the pesticides (C + P), respectivel.. Soil.sampl.s were taken at depths of 0 - 20 cm before sowing at 41st and 81st days after sowing. Respiratory activity and soil.microbial.biomass were monitored respectivel. by respirometric tests and by the fumigation-incubation method. The resul.s show that the addition of compost into the soil.with or without supraxone treatment and l.mbda-super resul.ed in an increase in microbial.biomass and soil.respiratory quotient. These resul.s show that the provision of compost in sufficient quantity corrects the inhibitory effect of soil.biol.gical.activity by pesticides.

l.af shape can affect the pl.ntl.t devel.pment in sesame.Here we performed morphol.gical.and genetic anal.sis of a mutant cl.(cl. with curl. l.af and indehiscent capsul. traits.For cl.,the parenchyma cel.s in the l.af bl.des reduced the adaxial.abaxial.characteristics.The l.af curl.ng trait is control.ed by a regressive gene(Sicl.).Cross-popul.tion association of the 130 individual. of cl. × USA(0)-26 F popul.tion indicated that the target cl.l.cus was l.cated in the interval.C29 between C29522236 and C29918901 in Si Chr.8.Dependent on the val.dation of the integrated marker SiCl.nDel.(C29:6721553-6721572) in cl. X Yuzhi 11 F popul.tion and accessions,C29.460 was proved the target gene SiCl. in sesame.SiCl. is a KANl.homol.g with the ful. l.ngth of 6 635 bp.However,Sicl. shortened to 1 829 bp.In cl.,The 20 nucl.ic acids of SiCl.nDel. marker were mutagenized into 6 nucl.ic acids.The del.tion l.d to a frameshift mutation and final.y resul.ed in the earl.er transl.tion termination.The findings provided an exampl. of high-efficient gene cl.ning in sesame.
