A 3-D numerical model for simulating tidal flow and sediment transport in the estuarine regions is presented in this paper. The model adopts -coordinate system and carries out -coordinate transformation to the basic equations, which ensure that all horizontal area has equal numbers of calculation points in vertical direction, this method provides higher distinguishable rate to the flow and sediment transport. Under the -coordinate system, the Galerkin finite-element method is applied for horizontal domain by using a new specially interpolating shape functions, while a finite difference approximation is employed over depth. The model can be used even in the situations with a considerable variety in the water depth in the computational domain. The model is verified by a test for which analytical solutions are available and then applied to simulate the tidal current and sediment transport of the Haihe River Mouth. A modeling system of sediment transport is established for applying to muddy estuary of North China. The comparison with the field data shows that the model can well simulate the evolution process in the estuary.

Laboratory experiments have been carried out to study the characteristics of sediment transport in steep streams. The question is discussed wether an armoured surfaces is destroyed due to the transport of material, because additional impulses are acting on it, or the layer is sheltered by the transported material, because a part of the stream power is used to move the material. According to the results of the presented experiments, in which the influence of the feeding rate and the feeding duration have been investigated, transported material reaching an armoured river section from upstream always remobilzes bed material, which is immobile under clear water flow conditions. To decide if a static armour layer is either destroyed or not, two simple criteria were chosen: one considering the grain-size distribution of the eroded bed material, and another, which referes to the amount of eroded bed material.

Based on rich field data obtained before and after the renovation, a numerical model has been developed for simulating sediment transport in the main canal of Handun Irrigation District Nonequilibrium of sediment transport non-uniform sediment and lateral diversion are considered in the model. The model is calibrated by field data. Calculated values of water stages, the amount of deposits and the sire distributions of bed material well coincide with measured ones. By applying the model the effect of the renovation is evaluated, the process of deposition in a year is analyzed. Furthermore, the principle for rational operation is put forward and some measures for further improvement are suggested.

The delta evolution and erosion process of the abandoned Yellow River Delta （AYRD） have been extensively studied. However, the variation of sediment at a large littoral scale along the north coast of Jiangsu is less understood. In this study, the data of surface sediment samples obtained in the littoral area of the Yellow River Delta in 2006 and 2012 is used to study the sediment variability and sediment transport trends by using the geostatistics analysis tool and the grain size trend analysis model, In order to ensure the applicability of the model, the geostatistics method is used to determine the characteristic distance （De） with the average range value （Ao） of grain size parameter. Filtering method （removing data that not at a sampling station） is used to improve accuracy of data selection. The results show that sedimentary spatial correlation in Lianyun Port area and southern part of the abandoned Yellow River Delta （AS） is better than that in the northern part of the abandoned Yellow River Delta （AN）. sediment in the area is found to be anisotropy at the northeast-southeast direc- tion. The grain size trend analysis reveals that the sediment trend is towards bayhead and southerly in the Haizhou Bay, southeasterly along the shoreline in the south Lianyun Port, northwesterly in AN and easterly-southeasterly in AS respectively. The investigation of possible relationships between Do, Ao, sediment transport and delta evolution shows a close link between Do and Ao of one sediment combination. It is also found that sediment transport trends could reasonably represent the delta evolution to a certain degree.

＜正＞ This paper presents a 2-D fluid-particles model for computing sediment transport in estuarine zones. This model is based on resolving the mass, momentum and constitutive equations for free-surface and multi-phase flows. The fluid-particles and particle-particle interactions are taken into account in the model. Chorin’s method combined with a finite differences technique is used. Benchmark tests, which describe the suspended-sediment transport, and the flow en-gendered by solid-particles settling in a reservoir, have been realised to validate the present model.

Nonsuspended sediment transport driven by streams of liquid or air is an important driver of themorphodynamics of planetary landscapes,seascapes,and *** and field measurements of the sediment transport rate as a function of the fluid shear stress have enabled us to predict such processes with reasonable accuracy on ***,sediment transport is also ubiquitous in extraterrestrial environments,such as on Venus,Mars,Titan,and occurs possibly even on *** raises the question of whether we can extrapolate transport rate expressions validated with measurements on Earth to extraterrestrial *** answer is probably,yes,but only if the used expressions capture the essential ***,using coupled DEM/RANS numerical sediment transport simulations,we show that nonsuspended sediment transport in a large range of aeolian and fluvial environments has a conceptually simple common physical underpinning that allows treating these different transport regimes in a universal *** is,a conceptually simple universal model captures simulated and measured transport thresholds and transport *** particular,when the transport layer thickness substantially exceeds the viscous sublayer thickness(true for many environments),this model yields a mathematically simple transport rate expression that agrees,simultaneously,with existing measurements in air and water.

A 2 D vertical(2 DV) numerical model,without σ-coordinate transformation in the vertical direction,is developed for the simulation of flow and sediment transport in open *** the model,time-averaged Reynolds equations are closed by the k-ε nnlinear turbulence *** modified YoungsVOF method is introduced to capture free surface dynamics,and the free surface slope is simulated using the ELVIRA *** on the power-law scheme,the k-ε model and the suspended-load transport model are solved numerically with an implicit scheme applied in the vertical plane and an elicit scheme applied in the horizontal *** transport is modeled using the Euler-WENO scheme,and the grid-closing skill is adopted to deal with moving channel bed *** of the model using laboratory data shows that the model is able to adequately simulate flow and sediment transport in open channels,and is a good starting point for study of sediment transport dynamics in strong nonlinear flow scenarios.

＜正＞Lots of sediment deposited in the tradition fishway and lost their function. Therefore, we modified the fish-bone-type fishway to promote the sediment transport efficiency. An experimental research of hydraulic and sediment transport characteristics for fish-bone-type fishway were carried out in this study that is to understand the mechanism of hydraulic and sediment transport of check-dams fishway of upstream watershed in Taiwan, china. Also, the design of a fish-bone-type fishway is established based upon such a scheme in order to provide a better fishway for the indigenous fish species in Taiwan, China. The sediment transport efficiency of fishway is above 97% for the gradient 1/8;the sediment transport efficiency of fishway is above 93.5% for the gradient 1/10. This will influence the efficiency of sediment transport whether the positioning of fish-bone-type fishway is appropriate or not. Result shows that among these two gradients of sediment transport, the better gradient of sediment transport is 1/8. The result also provides an on-site formula of rate of flow for measurement. This finding can provide a reference resource for on-site experiment and evaluation of the design.

Complete and comprehensive information about sediment dynamic and identification of hotspots of sediment production and transport are necessary for understanding the erosion processes and increasing the efficiency of soil and water conservation *** studies used the sediment fingerprint techniques to investigate the contribution of different sources in suspended and bed sediment yield of the ***,the contribution of various land use/land covers in suspended and bed sediment yield for the great Caspian Sea basin is in an aura of ambiguity and the present study was conducted to gather information about an important part of this area in northern Iran,where rangelands are located upstream of Hyrcanian forests and dense agricultural lands are located *** surface soil of different land use/land covers including forest,rangeland,agriculture and streambank lands were sampled in 30 *** and bed sediments were sampled in the watershed outlet in two high and low water *** characteristics of soil and sediment samples containing 59 elements were measured using ICP-OES GBC *** reliable and suitable tracers from 59 elements were then selected using Range test,Kruskal-Wallis and Discriminant Function Analysis,respectively,in FingerPro package of R *** results showed that for suspended sediment,streambank and rangeland had the highest contributions of 86.2%and 47.5%,respectively,in two high and low water *** bed sediment,in two high and low water periods,rangeland and streambank had the highest contributions of 73.8%and 84.4%,*** use change and especially human activities such as agriculture,road construction and development of residential areas along the main river riparian zone has led to a significant increase in suspended and bed sediments.
