The separation of aromatic hydrocarbons from aromatic/aliphatic mixtures was investigated with cross- linked polystyrene（CPS） beads modified with sulfonyl groups. Three sulfonating agents, i.e. benzenesulfonyl chlo- ride（BsCl）, 4-toluene sulfonyl chloride（TsC1） and methanesulfonyl chloride（MsC1） were used to prepare sulfonyl CPS beads by Friedel-Crafts reaction. The CPS beads modified with BsC1 exhibited higher sulfonation rate than those modified with MsC1 and TsCI and obtained optimum selectivity in the experiments of toluene/n-heptane separation. Further separation tests with various other aromatic/aliphatic mixtures were carried out at an initial aromatic concen- tration of 13%（mass fraction） with the results showing that the modified beads have preferential selectivity for aro- matic hydrocarbons in all aromatic/aliphatic mixtures, and especially a separation factor of 8.21 and a swelling ratio of 30% for toluene/cyclohexane system. The thermal stability and regeneration test indicate that the used polystyrene beads can be recovered through heat-drying and reused effectively.

Tunable photoredox-catalyzed chlorosulfonylation and oxysulfonylation ofα-trifluoromethylstyrenes with sulfonyl chloride were facilely achieved by simply manipulating the photocatalyst and *** strategy makes full use of the structural features of sulfonyl chloride to afford diverse bifunctional products ofα-trifluoromethylstyrenes in up to 95%yield with excellent functional group tolerance.

In view of the isosterism of the sulfonyl (-SO2-) and phosphoryl groups [-P(O)(OR)-,R=H, CH3, C2H5, etc], two new types of ureas, N-(N-aryl-O-alkyl phosphoryl)-N'-(4, 6-dimethoxypyrinddin-2-yl) ureas 2 and N-(N-aryl-N-alkyl phosphoryl)-N'-(4, 6-dimethoxy pyrimidin-2-yl)ureas 3, were synthesized by treating N- (arylandnochlorophosphoryl ) - N'- (4, 6-dimethoxypyriAndinyl-2-) ureas 4 with alcohols or amines. Compounds 4 were obtained by reactingdichlorophosphoryl isocyanate with 4,6 - di meth oxy- 2-aminopyrimidine, and then with aromaticamines. The enzyme tests (in vitro) indicated that compounds 2 and 3 were two novel classes ofacetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors, which showed that the phosphoryl group, [-P(O)(OR)-], or[-P(O)(NHR)-], was a good bioisostere of the sulfonyl group (-SO2-) in sulfonylurea.

This work describes the synthesis of seven new sulfonyl hydrazones, which were proposed from the general structure of acyl hydrazones and 2,4-dinitrosulfonamides. sulfonyl hydrazones are a class of compounds known to exhibit a wide range of biological activity. In this sense, the study of the pharmacokinetic properties of the bioactive molecules is of extreme importance;therefore, in this article the permeability of these compounds with in vitro PAMPA assay mimetizing the permeability through the gastrointestinal tract as well as lipophilicity through miLogP was investigated. All compounds presented good permeability results;it was possible to make a structure-activity relationship with the obtained results and a comparison between the results.

Preparation of pyrido[1,2-c][1,2,4]triazole-based π-conjugated triazene as a Fe3+ ion fluorescent sensor

A highly efficient coupling reaction of N-heterocyclic carbene precursors with sulfonyl azides has been developed, affording a variety of pyrido[1,2-c][1,2,4]triazole-based π-conjugated triazenes. The present reaction proceeds under very mild conditions with good functional group tolerance. The resulting triazenes exhibit selective and sensitive fluorescent response toward Fe3+ion.

We report the novel synthesis of azetidin-2-one derivatives containing aryl sulfonate moiety from the reaction of 2-hydroxy benzaldehyde with p-toluene sulfonyl chloride afforded firstly 2-formylphenyl 4-methylbenzene sulfonate (2). The compound (2) on reaction with p-aminobenzoic acid or 2-aminopyridine gave the corresponding aldimines (3). Furthermore, the aldimines are on reaction with chloroacetyl chloride gives corresponding azetidin-2-ones in good to moderate yield. Among the eight synthesized azetidin-2-ones, five selected compounds have been screened for the an-ti-inflammatory activity, few of them showed good anti-inflammatory activity compared with standard drugs. Anti- microbial activity of all synthesized compounds has been tested and most of the compounds showed good anti-bacterial and anti-fungal activities.
