It is of fundamental importance for the problem of three bodies to know the characteristic properties of the set M8 of all motions defined by the ten classical integrals. This is equivalent to characterize the manifold M8 or the reduced manifold M7 （named from G. D. Birkhoff） of states of motion when the order of the equations of motion is reduced to 8 or to the lowest number 7 by means of the available integrals and elimination of *** has been known explicitly about the property of M7 for many years. The present paper gives the following *** a fixed constant c of angular momentum, let the values of the energy E corresponding to constant distance triangular and collinear Lagrangian particular solutions be Eo and E1, E2,E3 respectively. Then we have theTheorem. For fixed c≠O, M7 changes from a connected set to a disconnected set of 2 or 3 components when E varies from a sufficiently high to a sufficiently low value.
