From January.1970 to June 1992,141 patients with superficial esophageal and cardiac carcinomas (sec and SCC) underwent surgical treatment. Of the 141 patients 128(90.8%) had slight symptoms related to swallowing,and the remaining 13(9.2%) were asymptomatic. Balloon cytology and esophagoscopy proved very useful for the diagnosis of sec and SCC,and Lugoi’s solution staining technique was an effective auxiliary diagnostic measure.Lymph node metastasis was not found in patients with epithelial (EP) cancer. However,it was present in one (2.9%) of 34 patients with muscularis mucosal (MM) invasion, and in 5 (8.6%) of 58 patients with submneosul (SM) cancer. The 5-year survival rates of the patients with sec and SCC were 75.5% and 71.4%, respectively (P>0.05).The different depth of tumor invasion including EP,MM and SM cancers showed significant differences in the 5-year survival rate (Psection in surgical treatment of the patients in whom MM and SM cancers are suspected.

The single-and double-electron capture(sec, DEC) processes of He^(2+) ions colliding with Ne atoms are studied by utilizing the full quantum-mechanical molecular-orbital close-coupling method. Total and state-selective sec and DEC cross sections are presented in the energy region of 2 eV/u to 20 keV/u. Results show that the dominant reaction channel is Ne^(+)(2s2p^(6) ^(2)S) + He^(+)(1s) in the considered energy region due to strong couplings with the initial state Ne(2s^(2)2p^(6)^(1)S) + He^(2+) around the internuclear distance of 4.6 a.u. In our calculations, the sec cross sections decrease initially and then increase whereby, the minimum point is around 0.38 keV/u with the increase of collision energies. After considering the effects of the electron translation factor(ETF), the sec cross sections are increased by 15%–25% nearby the energy region of keV/u and agree better with the available results. The DEC cross sections are smaller than those of sec because of the larger energy gaps and no strong couplings with the initial state. Due to the Demkov-type couplings between DEC channel Ne^(2+)(2s^(2)2p^(4)^(1)S) + He(1s^(2)) and the dominating sec channel Ne^(+)(2s2p^(6) ^(2)S) + He^(+)(1s), the DEC cross sections increase with increasing impact energies. Good consistency can also be found between the present DEC and the experimental measurements in the overlapping energy region.

Kinetic Correlation for the Hindered Diffusion of Proteins in a Porous Packing Column

Abstract Hindered diffusion of proteins in a porous packing plays an important role in proteinchromatographic purification.The HETP method was adopted to analyze the influence of axialdispersion, film mass transfer and hindered diffosion in the porous packing employing a size-exclusionchromatography(sec)process.The retention behavior with eight proteins of different relativemolecular mass was experimentally detected with a commercial sec column.A correlation basedon the relative molecular mass of the proteins and the packing porosity was developed and used topredict the effective diffusion coefficient of a protein in the Porous packing.The predicted valuesof effective diffusion coefficient were very consistent with the experimental results with the averageerror of 8.6%.

Erwinia(E) gum is composed of glucose, fucose, galactose and glucuronic acid. The weightaverage molecular weights M w, numberaverage molecular weights M n and intrinsic viscosities[η] of the four fractions and the unfractionated E gum in aqueous solutions at desired temperatures were studied by light scattering, membrane osmometry, size exclusion chromatography(sec) and viscometry. The experimental results prove that E gum formed aggregates in the aqueous solution at 25 ℃ and the aggregates were broken gradually with increasing temperature. The dissociation of the aggregates of E gum in the aqueous solution started at 36 ℃, and was completed at around 90 ℃. The [η] values of E gum and its fractions are much higher than those of the conventional polymers with the similar molecular weights, and decrease with increasing NaCl concentration.

iezoelectric fiber-optic spectroelectrochemistry(PFOsec), a new techniqueof spectroelectrochemistry (sec)in combination with piezoelectric quartz crystal(PQC)detection is proposed. In this technique, one arm of a bifurcated fiber-opticprobe is used to conduct the incident light beam to the investigated solution andthen to the reflective electrode surface on the piezoelectric quartz crystal, and thereflection light beam is guided to the optical detector by the other arm of the opticfiber. A typical experiinental system, Cu(Ⅱ)in glycine and KNO_3 supporting elec-trolyte, was used here to test this new technique. Results show that this techniquecan provide substantial in situ information from sec, PQC and conventional elec-trochemistry in the investigation of the electrochemical process. This novel techiqueis recommended to find wider application in the electrochemical study not only onsolution species but also on surface phenomena.

基于密度泛函理论的第一性原理，研究了压力对新型MAX相Zr2sec和Hf2sec晶体结构、弹性、电子和热力学性质的影响。弹性常数和声子计算表明，两种化合物在0～40 GPa压力范围内具有稳定结构。与大多数MAX相不同，Zr2sec和Hf2sec沿a轴方向比沿c轴方向更容易被压缩，外部压力对Zr2sec晶体结构的影响比Hf2sec更显著。电子结构计算表明，Zr2sec和Hf2sec具有金属性质，压力的升高降低了Zr2sec和Hf2sec在费米能级处的电子态密度，因此提高了Zr2sec和Hf2sec的稳定性。此外，弹性模量、泊松比和各向异性指数等均随着压力的升高而增大。在0～40 GPa压力范围内，相同压力下Hf2sec的弹性模量大于Zr2sec，表明高压下Hf2Se具有比Zr2sec更强的抗断裂和抗变形能力。热力学性质计算表明，Zr2sec和Hf2sec在0～40 GPa压力范围内具有较高的熔化温度。

Ergodic capacity of switch-and-examine combining under flat Rayleigh fading channels

Switch-and-examine combining （sec） is an interesting diversity technique that is simpler than selection combining （SC）, whereas its performances is similar in terms of bit error rate （BER） and diversity order. As ergodic capacity is also a key performance index in modem wireless systems, this article analyzes the ergodic capacity of the sec system. The numerical results show that the ergodic capacity of sec with optimal threshold is similar to that of SC for arbitrary number of diversity branches.
