rusting behavior and preventative measures of hot-rolled steel plates for automobile applications

As one of the important categories of hot-rolled products, hot-rolled steel plates for automobile applications generally undergo uniform corrosion or localized corrosion according to different environments of manufacturing, transportation and/or storage of the plates. General corrosion often takes place on the surface of a plate in the exterior part of a package, and only reduces the thickness of the plate and slightly increases the roughness of the surface; however, localized corrosion on the surface of a plate inside the package is likely to result in the formation of pit-like defects on the substrate of the plate, which cannot be removed thoroughly by normal acid pickling or sand blasting, and affects the application of the plate. This research report analyzes the phenomena and characteristics of the rusting behavior of hot- rolled steel plates for automobile applications, and the influencing factors are summaried. The corresponding preventative measures are proposed.

Effect of tin addition on corrosion behavior of a low-alloy steel in simulated costal-industrial atmosphere

The effect of tin addition on the atmospheric corrosion behavior of a low-alloy steel in sim ulated coastalindustrial atm osphere has been investigated by indoor wet/dry cyclic corrosion test (CCT). The results indicate that tin addition can obviously make the steel substrate more resistant to atmospheric corrosion by suppressing the cathodic H^+ reduction reaction, and but tin addition is not of obvious beneficial effect when the steel is covered with a thicker rust layer during long-term corrosion process. The reason lies in the fact that the presence of un-reduced H^+ can lower the electrolyte pH value and lead to a loose and porous rust layer on tin-containing steel sample than that on tin-free steel sample. In addition, the 120 CCT cycles corrosion process of the two steels can be divided into three stages. Both the tin-free and tin-containing steels show an increasing corrosion rate during the initial corrosion stage and then exhibit a decreasing corrosion rate during the second and third corrosion stages. Moreover, tin addition makes the tin-containing steel rust layer have a higher amount of α-FeOOH and lower am ount of γ-FeOOH and Fe3O4 than the tin-free steel rust layer.

To optimize storage allocation in Automated Storage and Retrieval System （AS-RS）, it is not sufficient to considering stock-in or stock-out operations individually or separately. In this paper, an optimization model of storage allocation in terms of stock-in and stock-out integration is designed to minimize the energy consumption. Considering the practical issue of bearing corrosion affecting its quality significantly, the measure of bearing corrosion is introduced in the model as constraints. With regards to the complication of the proposed model, a Genetic Algorithm is designed. The status of storage location is coding as Chromosome, the single-point sequential Crossover and exchange-based Mutation are designed in terms of matrix rows and columns, respectively. To ensure the feasibility of chromosomes, a heuristic method is applied to initialize population in a step-by-step manner and a repairing mechanism is introduced to satisfy the corrosion constraints. The simulation results show that, the integrated storage allocation model （ISAM） is effective for minimizing the total energy consumption;the bearing corrosion constraints may significantly influence the optimization result;the designed GA is efficient for solving the model.

As metal products,bearings are prone to rust provided in storage for a long *** improve products quality on bearing rusting during storage,this paper proposes a concept of satisfactory level on bearing rusting and designs the expressing *** regard to the stock-in operations,a multi-objective optimization model is proposed for allocating storage at the time of stock-in,so as to maximize satisfaction on rusting and minimize the energy consumption during a storage period of *** terms of the stock-out operations,another multi-objective optimization model is designed for retrieving bearings at the time of stock-out,so that satisfaction on rusting is maximized and the time consumed is *** the complication of solving 0-1 multi-objective integer programming models,Genetic Algorithm is *** to the problem features,two approaches of special chromosome representations,one-point mapping-based crossover operator and displacement mutation operator are designed for stock-in and stock-out models,*** fitness function is designed with adaptively moving line ***,the designed algorithm is embedded with the process of obtaining Pareto *** simulation experiments show that the rusting might impact on the storage allocation in stock-in and even more significantly in *** experimental results testify the models effectiveness and the algorithm practicability.
