Due to the constraints imposed by physical effects and performance degra certain limitations in sustaining the advancement of Moore’s law.Two-dimensional(2D)materials have emerged as highly promising candidates for the post-Moore era,offering significant potential in domains such as integrated circuits and next-generation computing.Here,in this review,the progress of 2D semiconductors in process engineering and various electronic applications are summarized.A careful introduction of material synthesis,transistor engineering focused on device configuration,dielectric engineering,contact engineering,and material integration are given first.Then 2D transistors for certain electronic applications including digital and analog circuits,heterogeneous integration chips,and sensing circuits are discussed.Moreover,several promising applications(artificial intelligence chips and quantum chips)based on specific mechanism devices are introduced.Finally,the challenges for 2D materials encountered in achieving circuit-level or system-level applications are analyzed,and potential development pathways or roadmaps are further speculated and outlooked.

roadmap to tackle antibiotic resistance in the environment under the One Health framework

Antibiotic resistance has been recognized as a major challenge worldwide for humans.“One Health”has been recognized as a key concept for containment of antibiotic resistance.Under the framework,the role of the environment in the development of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)has become increasingly obvious.Despite numerous efforts,response to antibiotic re-sistance is considered to be inadequate,which is probably due to the lack of a clear roadmap.Here,we propose a“One Health”roadmap to combat antibiotic resistance in the environment through(1)understanding environmental resistome.The environmental gene pool has long been recognized as the single largest reservoir of both known and novel ARGs.(2)Standardizing ARG quantification.Systematic joint efforts based on standardized quantification are urgently needed to un-derstand the true tempospatial profiles of the environmental resistome.(3)Identifying mechanisms of resistome development.Horizontal gene transfer and co-selection have been recognized as the two main mechanisms contributing to the environmental resistome.(4)Establishing a risk-assessment framework.The first critical step for large-scale cost-effective targeted ARG management in the environment is the risk assessment to identify the priority ARGs for control.(5)Formulating regulatory standards.By correlating the environmental ARG profile with public health,we may identify the indicator ARGs that can be integrated into current environmental quality standards.(6)Developing control strategies.Systematic analysis of available control technologies is required to identify the most feasible ones to curtail the spread of ARGs in the environment.The proposed roadmap under the“One Health”framework provides a guide to tackle antibiotic resistance in the environment.

The construction industry is a major contributor to environmental pollution.The effect of the construction industry on the environment may be mitigated using eco-friendly construction materials,such as biocomposites.Once developed,biocomposites may offer a viable alternative to the current materials in use.However,biocomposites are lagging in terms of adoption and eventual use in the construction industry.This article provides insights into the steps for biocomposites to become a product that is ready to use by the construction industry in a structural role.The development and the adoption of such a material is tackled with the use of two concepts,i.e.,technology readiness level and roadmapping,and explored in a case study on the“liquid wood”.Furthermore,interviews in the construction industry are carried out to identify the industry’s take on biocomposites.A customized roadmap,which underlines a mostly nontechnical perspective concerning this material,has emerged.Additionally,the adoption and diffusion issues that the“liquid wood”may encounter are outlined and complemented with further recommendations.

Big Data Analytics in Healthcare——A Systematic Literature Review and roadmap for Practical Implementation

The advent of healthcare information management systems(HIMSs)continues to produce large volumes of healthcare data for patient care and compliance and regulatory requirements at a global scale.Analysis of this big data allows for boundless potential outcomes for discovering knowledge.Big data analytics(BDA)in healthcare can,for instance,help determine causes of diseases,generate effective diagnoses,enhance Qo S guarantees by increasing efficiency of the healthcare delivery and effectiveness and viability of treatments,generate accurate predictions of readmissions,enhance clinical care,and pinpoint opportunities for cost savings.However,BDA implementations in any domain are generally complicated and resource-intensive with a high failure rate and no roadmap or success strategies to guide the practitioners.In this paper,we present a comprehensive roadmap to derive insights from BDA in the healthcare(patient care)domain,based on the results of a systematic literature review.We initially determine big data characteristics for healthcare and then review BDA applications to healthcare in academic research focusing particularly on No SQL databases.We also identify the limitations and challenges of these applications and justify the potential of No SQL databases to address these challenges and further enhance BDA healthcare research.We then propose and describe a state-of-the-art BDA architecture called Med-BDA for healthcare domain which solves all current BDA challenges and is based on the latest zeta big data paradigm.We also present success strategies to ensure the working of Med-BDA along with outlining the major benefits of BDA applications to healthcare.Finally,we compare our work with other related literature reviews across twelve hallmark features to justify the novelty and importance of our work.The aforementioned contributions of our work are collectively unique and clearly present a roadmap for clinical administrators,practitioners and professionals to successfully implement BDA initiatives in their organiza

With the rapid development of local generation and demand response,the active distribution network(ADN),which aggregates and manages miscellaneous distributed resources,has moved from theory to practice.Secure and optimal operations now require an advanced situation awareness(SA)system so that operators are aware of operation states and potential risks.Current solutions in distribution supervisory control and data acquisition(DSCADA)as well as the distribution automation system(DAS)generally are not able to meet the technology requirements of SA.In this paper,the authors’participation in the project of developing an SA system as the basic component of a practical active distribution management system(ADMS)deployed in Beijing,China,is presented.This paper reviews the ADN’s development roadmap by illustrating the changes that are made in elements,topology,structure,and control scheme.Taking into consideration these hardware changes,a systematic framework is proposed for the main components and the functional hierarchy of an SA system for the ADN.The SA system’s implementation bottlenecks are also presented,including,but not limited to issues in big data platform,distribution forecasting,and security evaluation.Potential technology solutions are also provided.

From lab to fab: path forward for 2D material electronics

The increasing demand for computation requires the development of energy-efficient logic devices with reduced dimensions. Owing to their atomic thickness, 2D semiconductors are expected to provide possible solutions at the sub-1 nm technology node. Furthermore, taking advantage of the van der Waals nature, the low-temperature back-end of line integration with silicon may occur in the near future. In this perspective, vital progress in material synthesis, device engineering, and integration technologies toward integrated circuits based on 2D materials is reviewed. The challenges and important milestones on the roadmap for the next decade toward the fab adoption of 2D materials are outlined. Particularly, performance,power, area, cost, and equipment for further technology development in this area are proposed as key metrics and enablers.

Comprehensive molecular characterization and identification of prognostic signature in stomach adenocarcinoma on the basis of energy-metabolism-related genes

BACKGROUND Stomach adenocarcinoma(STAD)is a leading cause of cancer deaths,but its molecular and prognostic characteristics has never been fully illustrated.AIM To describe a molecular evaluation of primary STAD and develop new therapies and identify promising prognostic signatures.METHODS We describe a comprehensive molecular evaluation of primary STAD based on comprehensive analysis of energy-metabolism-related gene(EMRG)expression profiles.RESULTS On the basis of 86 EMRGs that were significantly associated to patients’progression-free survival(PFS),we propose a molecular classification dividing gastric cancer into two subtypes:Cluster 1,most of which are young patients and display more immune and stromal cell components in tumor microenvironment and lower tumor priority;and Cluster 2,which show early stages and better PFS.Moreover,we construct a 6-gene signature that can classify the prognostic risk of patients after a three-phase training test and validation process.Compared with patients with low-risk score,patients with high-risk score had shorter overall survival.Furthermore,calibration and DCA analysis plots indicate the excellent predictive performance of the 6-gene signature,and which present higher robustness and clinical usability compared with three previous reported prognostic gene signatures.According to gene set enrichment analysis,gene sets related to the high-risk group were participated in the ECM receptor interaction and hedgehog signaling pathway.CONCLUSION Identification of the EMRG-based molecular subtypes and prognostic gene model provides a roadmap for patient stratification and trials of targeted therapies.

The World Health Organization’s first roadmap and the London Declaration on neglected tropical diseases(NTDs)have allowed an unprecedented expansion of interventions to control and eliminate this group of infectious diseases that primarily affects vulnerable or marginalised communities.The 2021-2030 NTD roadmap sustains a further acceleration of interventions but also introduces a broader and more ambitious agenda,calling to be accompanied by a new political declaration.Sponsored by the Government of Rwanda,the Kigali Declaration on neglected tropical diseases will be launched in 2022 to renew and reinvigorate commitments to end NTDs,also in the wake of the current setback caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.Starting on World NTD Day 2022,a global campaign"100%Committed"will call on a broad range of stakeholders to sign the declaration and make bold financial and political commitments towards achieving the 2030 roadmap and Sustainable Development Goals'targets for NTDs.

In order to achieve its objectives and to handle its real estate in a professional manner, the real estate company of the municipality of Groningen would like to begin managing the social real estate portfolio in an innovative way. The use of data and information technologies, or data-driven working and managing, provides insight into the effectiveness and efficiency of the portfolio. This roadmap includes, in addition to a theoretical framework, a step-by-step plan describing the process towards data-driven real estate management. The starting point here is to invent step by step, because data-driven real estate management requires a different way of thinking and doing. Actionable insights are created so that strategic management becomes possible. The data model to be developed forms the basis for entering into dialogue, taking decisions and drawing up long-term goals. The outcome is a data model for a proactive, agile, future-proof organization that is capable of responding to a changing environment and manages for the highest possible social return.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a process involving generation and management of digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of places, which can be exchanged or networked to support decision-making in architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) sector. BIM is a relatively new technology in an industry typically slow to adopt changes, especially in Portugal. The present paper aims to frame the international implementation of BIM in order to propose a roadmap to spread the use of BIM methodologies in Portugal in the next decade.
