Quality of information disclosure, property rights, and bank loans: A bank heterogeneity perspective

Using the context of the financial reform and the development of the non-state sector in China in the past decade, we examine the roles that the quality of information disclosure and property rights play in the allocation of different types of bank credit. We find that foreign banks and policy banks exercise ‘‘financial discrimination," and that local commercial banks, large state- owned commercial banks, national joint-stock banks, local city commercial banks, and rural commercial banks not only exercise financial discrimination but also provide significant ‘‘financial support" to non-state-owned enterprises by providing more lending opportunities and larger loans. However, when enterprises commit information disclosure violations, the local commercial banks, national joint-stock banks, local city commercial banks, and rural commercial banks reverse their credit decisions and begin to exercise financial dis- crimination against non-state-owned enterprises. At the same time, large stateowned commercial banks continue to provide financial support to non-state-owned enterprises. We also find that the quality of the information disclosed by enterprises has a moderating effect rather than an intermediary effect on the relationship between property rights and bank loans. Overall, the results of this paper shine new light on the market-oriented reform of the banking industry, and provide new empirical evidence for the presence of financial discrimination in the supply of bank credit. Our findings also have practical implications for solving the financing difficulties of non-state-owned enterprises.

According to the analytically semantic linkage of“good-right-rights-justice”formed in the real conflicts among goods and especially among people,we should not confuse the global justice principle of“equal respect for everyone’s basic rights”with the global virtue principle of“equal satisfaction of everyone’s basic needs.”Correspondingly,while global virtues and the national interest may and can be reconciled with each other,global justice should not make compromises to the national interest precisely because of its ultimate priority.

Resorting to the immensely state-centric international legal system to regulate corporate human rights abuses is often viewed as *** many proposals aiming at filling the international regulatory gaps,imposing international human rights obligations directly on corporations is a bold one,which,due to profound doctrinal and practical challenges,is yet to be ***,state-owned enterprises(SOEs),given their prima facie''state-business nexus"that blurs the traditional public-private divide,might provide a renewed opportunity to push forward the"direct international corporate accountability^^*** study investigates whether SOEs represent a golden chance for direct corporate accountability in the international legal *** study provides a legal analysis supported by case law,and by comparative and empirical research when *** providing a definitional account of SOEs,it examines the legal status of SOEs under international ***,in the reverse direction,it proceeds to explore if the state-business nexus of SOEs as non-state actors could render the argument toward direct international corporation accountability more *** findings reveal that SOEs,to a limited extent,represent a renewed opportunity to rethink direct corporate accountability under international law.

Objective:Reproductive health(RH)rights are the rights of all persons,regardless of age,sex,or other traits,and they have the freedom to make decisions about their sexuality and ***,there is limited information about Ethiopians’understanding of RH *** little is known about the degree of knowledge and relevant predictors in the study area,this study was carried out to fill in the ***:An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted from 3 January to 25 January 2021 G.C to determine the knowledge level of RH rights and its associated factors among Wolkite University undergraduate medical *** minimum estimated sample size was computed by using the simple population proportion formula of 95%confidence interval(CI),with 5%of marginal error,which was 318 *** students were stratified based on their academic year and *** student was selected from each department by using the simple random sampling method based on their ID *** were collected by using a pre-tested,structured self-administered *** Info version 3.5.1 was used for data coding,entering,and cleaning,and then the data were expor ted to Statistical Package for Social Sciences(SPSS)version 23 for advanced *** associated factors were identified by performing analysis for bivariate and multivariate logistic regression ***:More than half(56.33%)of the par ticipants were knowledgeable about reproductive and sexual rights and par ticipated in RH clubs(adjusted odds ratio[AOR]:2.94,95%CI:1.46,5.91).The paternal educational level(AOR:2.89,95%CI:1.34,5.65)had an association with the knowledge of reproductive health ***:The students’knowledge regarding reproductive and sexual rights was found to be *** Ethiopia Ministry of Education has to include reproductive and sexual rights in the curriculum of high school and higher institution studies.

In contemporary moral and political philosophy, there are two leading approaches to the justification of rights. These could be broadly identified as deontological theories and consequential theories. These two schools of theories each have their own strengths and weakness, while there is also a third contractual approach that is under represented. Because Rawls＇ and Scanlon＇s well-known contractual theories are designed for purposes other than the justification of rights, the purpose of this paper is to establish a principle of rights on the basis of Rawls＇ justification device of the ＂original position.＂ First, it supplies a criterion based on human conduct or action. Second, based on this account of human conduct, different types of relationships are constructed and presented to the parties in the ＂original position.＂ Third, it will show that the parties in the ＂original position＂ would choose one of these relationships as the principle of rights. Finally, Rawls＇ first principle of justice will be reformulated. The procedure of choosing a principle of rights in this paper could also be viewed as a demonstration that, when properly situated and motivated, human beings exhibit their potential as rational beings.

Recently, with the migration of wealthy Chinese elites becoming increasingly prevalent, the market has come to believe that firms with controlling persons with foreign residency rights have serious agency problems. We study the impact of controlling persons with foreign residency rights on corporate audit perspective. We find that firms whose controlling persons have foreign residency rights are more likely to use high-quality auditing services, and that this behavior is more obvious in regions with lower marketization and in firms with higher separation of ownership and control. We further study the effect of firms whose controlling persons have foreign residency rights that use high-quality Big 4 auditors and find that such firms have better corporate governance and accounting performance.

Around the globe, streets and sidewalks in cities are being contested as spaces that should be used for more than transportation. This paper analyzes street spaces as public goods, or their nature as a 'public pool,' from the perspective of property rights. After conducting a picture for the use of public street spaces in two innovative districts in Beijing via big data description and field investigation, this paper analyzes the use of public spaces from the perspective of property rights, spatial supply and demand, and the distribution and management of public goods. It further proposes three strategies for street design transformation, including refined management, design integrity, and planning priority transformation.

The focus of this study is to investigate the school textbooks of Greek Language, particular emphasis being paid on the search via their content of the level of emergence of the rights of the Child. The research focuses on the specific topic, as school textbooks are utilized at the most during schooling and also, as they constitute the basis for the linguistic transfer of messages, values, and attitudes, which are used in all subjects and in the majority of teaching activities and actions. In addition, school textbooks of Greek Language contribute significantly to the cultural understanding and development of the child. This whole dimension is attempted to be highlighted in the present study, the main outcome of which is that via the school textbooks of Greek Language of the last three grades of the Greek Primary School, the emergence of the rights of the Child is attempted at a satisfactory level. The present research is an empirical approach to textbooks of Greek Language of Greek Primary School on the rights of the Child and it is innovative, for being the first evaluative approach on the aforementioned issue, since the last review of school textbooks in the Greek.

Constitutionally protected rights remove political issues from the control of the democratically elected legislature. Since such rights therefore limit the power of the majority, recent work in rights theory argues that the constitutional protection of rights is inconsistent with the fundamental democratic idea of government by the people. According to this view, democracies should assign the power to resolve questions regarding the nature and extent of individual rights to the majority. Constitutional attempts to remove such questions from the public agenda, it is argued, are disrespectful to citizens who disagree with the views embodied in the constitutionalized rights. I argue that this critique：（1） is insufficiently attentive to the question of when legislation by the majority constitutes a legitimate exercise of political power; and （2） underestimates the importance of securing the constitutive conditions of democratic self-government.
