Current Situation of College Students’ Entrepreneurship and Employment in the Countryside in the Context of Rural revitalization

Focusing on the talent training in the strategy of revitalizing the countryside, this paper uses questionnaire survey, field survey, descriptive statistics, chi-square test and other methods to study the willingness of college students to "go to the countryside" to contribute to rural development after graduation, as well as the influencing factors. The results show that the willingness of college students to "go to the countryside" is negative after graduation, and engaging in rural education and returning to their hometown to start a business is the mainstream will of college students to "go to the countryside". The one-sidedness of the understanding of rural areas, less employment opportunities, low wages, poor infrastructure conditions and the views of the older generation are the important reasons that hinder college students from "going to the countryside". The good environment in rural areas and the guidance of policies are the biggest promoting factors for "going to the countryside". The willingness of rural college students to "go to the countryside" is significantly higher than that of urban college students. The freshman s willingness to "go to the countryside" is the most positive, and the graduate students willingness to "go to the countryside" is the most negative. The college students majoring in agriculture are most willing to support the development of rural areas, while the students of "medicine","literature" and "art" are most unwilling to "go to the countryside". Whether or not to participate in the "volunteer activities for the country people" has no impact on the willingness to "go to the countryside".

The Predicament of Rural Development under the Strategy of Rural revitalization

Solving rural poverty is the most urgent problem to be solved in the current rural revitalization strategy.The"alienation"of farmer organizations makes it difficult to give full play to the function of farmer organizations.The institutionalized obstacle of urban-rural dual division restricts the urban integration of migrant workers.There is an institutional conflict between the construction of new countryside and rural urbanization.It is the best way for farmers to find a suitable model for local development according to local conditions,but the exploration and practice of rural development model will be a complex and tortuous process.

Evaluation of E-commerce Poverty Alleviation Effect in the Context of Rural revitalization Strategy

The industrial prosperity proposed in the overall requirement of rural revitalization strategy in the Report of the 19th National Congress is the cornerstone of rural development. E-commerce poverty alleviation is an effective way of poverty alleviation in recent years. This paper mainly explored the factors influencing the rural e-commerce poverty alleviation and the evaluation of poverty alleviation effects,in order to come up with countermeasures and recommendations to provide assistance and guidance for the use of e-commerce to achieve poverty alleviation and accordingly to revitalize the rural industry. Firstly,using the literature research method,it proposed four level Ⅰ indicators influencing the e-commerce poverty alleviation,and designed a detailed level Ⅱ indicator system under each dimension. Then,the questionnaire survey method was employed to collect data for SPSS analysis to verify whether the designed indicator system is correct. Finally,it analyzed the problem of the current stage of e-commerce poverty alleviation by means of the quadrifid graph,and came up with corresponding countermeasures on the basis of the four key levek I factors.

Implications and Recommendations for Rural revitalization Strategy Based on Domestic and Foreign Experience

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China formulated a major deployment of the rural revitalization strategy from the overall situation of the national cause,and took the rural revitalization strategy as the general gripper of the work of " agriculture,farmers and rural areas". This has important practical significance for realizing agricultural modernization. Through selecting several typical countries,this paper analyzes and introduces the historical experience of rural revitalization. Finally,it comes up with some recommendations and implications.

Forest cover change and its driving forces in Fagita Lekoma District,Ethiopia

This study investigated forest cover change and the driving forces behind it in Fagita Lekoma District of Ethiopia that resulted in increased forest cover,which might be uncommon outside this case study area.The LULC change analysis was made from 2003 to 2017 based on Landsat images.Socioeconomic analysis was carried out to identify the major driving forces that resulted in LULC change.A questionnaire survey,focused group discussion,key informant interviews and field observation were employed to analyze the link between LULC change and the driving forces.The 15-year period(2003–2017)image analysis revealed that the coverage of forest lands,built-up areas and grassland has increased by 256%,100%and 96%,respectively,at the expense of cultivated lands and wetlands.The increased forest cover is due to the woodlots expansion of Acacia decurrens Willd,which are designed for sustainable livelihoods and a land revitalization strategy in the study area.Rapid population growth,an increasing demand for charcoal and subsequent market opportunities,preferred qualities of A.decurrens or black wattle to halt land degradation as well as to improve land productivity,have been identified as the major driving forces of forest cover change.Chi squared analysis revealed that:a comparative cash income from the sale of A.decurrens;a dependency on natural forests;the distance from the district administrative center;the size of the active labor force,and the area of land owned have significantly affected the cover change.The major forest cover change is due to the expansion of A.decurrens plantations that have socioeconomic and environmental implications to improve rural livelihoods and revitalize the land.Thus,the positive experiences identified in this study should be scaled-up and applied in other similar settings.

Physical Characterization and Evaluation of the Water Potential of the Watershed of the Ferlo Fossil Valley, Senegal: Louga Area

This study is an evaluation of the water potential of the Ferlo fossil valley in the Louga area in Senegal. It consisted in determining the volume of water that could be mobilized at the level of a confluence point of the waters according to the flow lines, where a dam would be placed to create a reservoir. This volume of mobilizable water was compared to the average water consumption of the area in order to evaluate its adequacy or not. To do this, a delineation, physical characterization and mapping of the Ferlo watershed was done using Google Earth, Global Mapper and Arc GIS softwares. A catchment area of 28,754 sq·km was obtained with a perimeter of 976 km, an average slope of 0.52% and a hydraulic length of 336 km. Then the decennial runoff of the watershed was calculated using the CIEH method, this flow is estimated at 1120 cm/s. On the basis of this flow, the annual volume of water that can be mobilized was estimated at 11,089,758 cm per year with a solid deposits of 93 cm per year. The conclusions reached are that there is a lack of mobilizable water resources in the area and that the entire fossil valley needs to be rewatered to provide a sustainable alternative water source.

Degeneration of socio-urban fabric at Yenikapi and proposals for rehabilitation

This paper aimed to discuss urban conservation challenges along the axes of two streets in the neighborhood of Yenikapi leading towards Kumkapi.The Yenikapi area of the historic peninsula of Istanbul is known to have been inhabited since prehistoric times,and it was the site of an important late antiquity port.Many cultural assets,including monuments from a number of periods and nineteenth century houses,remain in the area,but jarring changes have occurred due to newly built constructions,town planning decisions,and the development of public transport.Before any proposal for future area conservation activities,the current state of conservation was inspected through onsite analyses conducted along Pa^azade,imrahor Hamami,and Sepet^i Selim streets.By analyzing the pressures affecting the historical peninsula,the challenges in the conservation effort of the study area were determined,followed by some proposals for its enhancement and general conservation.

Tajima Yahei Sericulture Farm,one of the four components of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Tomioka Silk Mill and Related Sites inscribed in 2014,was the starting point for advancements in sericulture farmhouses,emphasizing the importance of ventilation.Through Yahei’s experimentation surrounding the ideal space to breed silkworms,a new sericulture theory was invented,and a sericulture farmhouse architecture was formed.For the purpose of preserving this cultural heritage for future generations,it is important to understand the idea that led to the cultural and industrial advancement of the village of Shimamura and to revise the preservation plans prepared by stakeholders.This paper will discuss the development of the sericulture theory,seiryō-iku theory,and the formation of a sericulture farmhouse architecture;describe the adaptation of former sericulture farmhouses and the surrounding landscapes in terms of the industry and environment;outline the plans and efforts for the preservation and revitalization of Tajima Yahei Sericulture Farm,its surrounding area and its underlying issues;and propose a direction for future preservation plans.

An Exploration on the Implementation of Traditional Village Conservation with Enterprise Involvement: A Case Study of Xijingyu Village, Jixian County, Tianjin

In contemporary China, considerable traditional villages have either suffered from "developmental and constructive" damage, or have gradually declined due to conservation constraints. Under the current rural revitalization wave initiated by the Central Government, products, capitals, enterprises, and urban elites have entered the countryside. The actors of conserving and revitalizing traditional villages become multiple, which include local governments, enterprises, planners, village planning committees, and villagers. The paper takes Xijingyu Village in Jixian County, Tianjin as a specific case, and investigates the new mode of multiple participation in conservation and revitalization. Based on empirical data, it identifies the main problems regarding agriculture, the rural environment, and peasants, and reveals how to coordinate the roles of local government, village committee, villagers, enterprises, and other actors.
