The demand for Li-ion batteries (LIBs) for vehicles is increasing. However, LIBs use valuable rare metals, such as Co and Li, aswell as environmentally toxic reagents. LIBs are also necessary to utilize for a long period and to recycle useful materials. The reduction, Reuse,and recycle (3R) of spent LIBs is an important consideration in constructing a circular economy. In this paper, a flowsheet of the 3R of LIBs isproposed and methods to reduce the utilization of valuable rare metals and the amount of spent LIBs by remanufacturing used parts and designingnew batteries considering the concept of 3R are described. Next, several technological processes for the Reuse and recycling of LIBs are introduced.These technologies include discharge, sorting, crushing, binder removal, physical separation, and pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgicalprocessing. Each process, as well as the related physical, chemical, and biological treatments, are discussed. Finally, the problem of developedtechnologies and future subjects for 3R of LIBs are described.

A Scheduling Optimization Technique Based on Reuse in Spark to Defend Against APT Attack

Advanced Persistent Threat （APT） attack, an attack option in recent years, poses serious threats to the security of governments and enterprises data due to its advanced and persistent attacking characteristics. To address this issue, a security policy of big data analysis has been proposed based on the analysis of log data of servers and terminals in Spark. However, in practical applications, Spark cannot suitably analyze very huge amounts of log data. To address this problem, we propose a scheduling optimization technique based on the Reuse of datasets to improve Spark performance. In this technique, we define and formulate the Reuse degree of Directed Acyclic Graphs （DAGs） in Spark based on Resilient Distributed Datasets （RDDs）. Then, we define a global optimization function to obtain the optimal DAG sequence, that is, the sequence with the least execution time. To implement the global optimization function, we further propose a novel cost optimization algorithm based on the traditional Genetic Algorithm （GA）. Our experiments demonstrate that this scheduling optimization technique in Spark can greatly decrease the time overhead of analyzing log data for detecting APT attacks.

Over the past 15 years, housing supply for university students has increased significantly given the considerable attention provided by national institutions on the issue of student housing. In Italy, however, only approximately 4% of students live in university residences. Since 2001, interventions on existing buildings have accounted for approximately 60% of the overall measures proposed for new university residences; these interventions comprise most of the available public economic resources. The possibility of recovering and reusing existing buildings for university residences is remarkable for the city of Catania because most of the students are enrolled in university courses located within the historic city center. Moreover, abandoned buildings are currently a significant part of the city׳s architectural heritage. This research aims to develop an articulated and integrated set of frameworks to support the various phases of the design process for recovering and then reusing existing buildings as university residences. The proposed approach applies existing dimensional standards and environmental sustainability principles to a constructed building using traditional techniques.

Due to the serious imbalance between demand and supply of lithium,lithium extraction from brine has become a research hotspot.With the demand for power lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)increased rapidly,a large number of spent LiFePO_(4)power batteries have been scrapped and entered the recycling stage.Herein,a novel and efficient strategy is proposed to extract lithium from brine by directly reusing spent LiFePO_(4)powder without any treatment.Various electrochemical test results show that spent LiFePO_(4)electrode has appropriate lithium capacity(14.62 mg_(Li)/g_(LiFePO_(4))),excellent separation performance(α_(Li-Na)=210.5)and low energy consumption(0.768 Wh/g_(Li))in electrochemical lithium extraction from simulated brine.This work not only provides a novel idea for lithium extraction from brine,but also develops an effective strategy for recycling spent LIBs.The concept of from waste to wealth is of great significance to the development of recycling the spent batteries.

The demand for potable water is rising rapidly due to an ever-increasing population,economic activities,and dwindling water supplies.To provide adequate water supplies in the future,understanding the issues and challenges in the Reuse of water and developing appropriate strategies for Reuse will be critical.One way to augment water supplies for residential use is to Reuse graywater- the wastewater from kitchens,bathrooms,and laundries.In this article,we critically review the evolution of water Reuse,the definition of graywater,graywater Reuse practices,volumes and flow in different situations,and graywater characteristics.We then examine the issues associated with different graywater treatment methods and how using graywater for irrigation around homes affects soil quality and plant growth.The study concludes that graywater treatment costs,human health risks,and its effect on soil quality are some of the challenges that need to be addressed in the future for widespread and sustainable Reuse of graywater for irrigation around homes.

The amount of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is constantly increasing as their popularity grows. It is important todevelop a recycling method that cannot only convert large amounts of waste anode graphite into high value-addedproducts but is also simple and environmentally friendly. In this work, spent graphite from an anode was transformed into a cathode for dual-ion batteries (DIBs) through a two-step treatment. This method enables the crystalstructure and morphology of spent graphite to recover from the adverse effects of long cycling and be restored to aregular layered structure with appropriate layer spacing for anion intercalation. In addition, pyrolysis of the solidelectrolyte interphase into an amorphous carbon layer prevents the electrode from degrading and improves itscycling performance. The recycled negative graphite has a high reversible capacity of 87 mAh g^(-1) at 200 mA g^(-1),and its rate performance when used as a cathode in DIBs is comparable to that of commercial graphite. This simplerecycling idea turns spent anode graphite into a cathode material with attractive potential and superior electrochemical performance, genuinely achieving sustainable energy use. It also provides a new method for recoveringexhausted batteries.

Spatial structure optimization of mountainous abandoned mine land Reuse based on system dynamics model and CLUE-S model

The mountainous abandoned mine land is often distributed in the fomi of fragmented patches. Therefore, it can greatly promote the Reuse value of abandoned mine land and relieve the pressure of land demand to realize the rational Reuse of abandoned mine land based on the future land use structure and spatial layout of mountainous area. In this paper, optimization of the spatial structure of mountainous abandoned mine land Reuse is realized through the system dynamics model and CLUE-S model. Mentougou district, Beijing, China is selected as the research area. System dynamics model with feedback functions is constructed to simulate land use structure from 2011 to 2025, which is taken as the quanfiiative constraint on spatial structure optimization. CLUE-S model with neighborhood analysis function is applied to simulate future land use spatial structure. The simulation result layer is superimposed with the abandoned mine land distribution layer and the optimized spatial structure of abandoned mine land Reuse then is determined, checked by Reuse suitability evaluation. The result shows that abandoned mine land can be fully optimized as other land use types according to demand, and the Reuse directions are water conservancy facilities land, urban land, rural residential land, tourism land, garden land, woodland and grassland. The trend of abandoned mine land Reuse tend to be consistent with land use types of neighboring patches. This study can provide theoretical reference for the practices of mountainous abandoned mine land Reuse.

A methodology is presented to plan Reuse strategies of common modules in a product family by using the concepts of function degradation, reliability, function requirement, cost and life time. Markov chain model is employed to predict function degradation and reliability. A utility model is used to evaluate the preference between used modules and new modules. An example of cascading-requirment product family illustrates the main ideas of our work. The Markov models are used effectively to predict function degradation and reliability. Utility theory is helpful to evaluate the Reuse options of common modules.
