Comparison of Composition and Diversity of Bacterial Microbiome in Human Upper and Lower respiratory tract

INTRODUCTIONMicrobiome residing in the airways and parenchymal tissues, as a biological barrier of respiratory tract, plays an important role in maintaining the normal functions of individual＇s respiratory system and preventing the invasion and colonization of exogenous pathogens.H1 Changes of microbial community may result in the occurrence and progression of infectious pneumonia and acute exacerbation of chronic diseases, through disordering commensal microorganisms and increasing invasive ability of pathogens.F21 Traditional methods for detecting bacteria normally rely on culture technique, which have a number of critical problems, including time-consuming and relatively low positive rate of detection. In the last 1 0 years, 16S rRNA gene sequencing technique has been thought to be more comprehensive and reliable than those of culture-dependent methods for monitoring bacterial microbiome in skin, organs, and tracts quantitatively and qualitatively.E31 In this case, choosing credible samples are critical to evaluate the community composition of microbiome in the host tracts, including respiratory tract. In the present study, we aimed to compare the composition and diversity of bacterial community structure in different samples collected from the individuals＇ airways using 16S rRNA gene sequencing technique.

Risk factors of juvenile onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis in the lower respiratory tract

Background Juvenile onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis （JORRP） is a relatively rare disease. It affects the larynx in most cases. Because reports on JORRP to the lower respiratory tract （LRT） are few, we investigated clinical features of patients with a history of JORRP to analyze the risk factors of this disease. Methods Data from 208 JORRP patients admitted to Beijing Tongren Hospital from January 2008 to December 2010 were reviewed. Gender, age at onset of symptoms, age at first surgery, duration of symptoms before the first surgical procedure, the number of surgical procedures, mean interval between surgical interventions, and the number of tracheotomies in patients with and without LRT spread of JORRP were analyzed. The data from patients with and without tracheotomy were recorded and compared. Two cases of primary tracheal papillomatosis were reviewed. Results Papillomas extension down to the LRT was observed in 46 children （22.1%）. Patients with LRT papillomatosis had a shorter time from the onset of the symptoms until the first surgery, required significantly more surgical procedures, and had a shorter mean surgical interval. Tracheotomy was performed in 13/162 （8.0%） children with laryngeal papillomatosis vs. 36/46 （78.3%） children with LRT papillomatosis. After tracheotomy, 36/49 （73.5%） children developed LRT papillomatosis and 10/157 （6.4%） children who did not have a tracheotomy developed LRT papillomatosis. Patients with tracheotomy required a significantly higher number of surgical procedures. The younger the patient had a tracheotomy, the longer the duration of cannulation was. Conclusions JORRP patients with LRT spread are prone to develop more aggressive disease. Tracheotomy resulted in a significant increase of LRT involvement.

Short acting β2-agonists(SABAs)such as salbutamol and terbutaline are commonly used in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).According to the guideline produced by the British Thoracic Society(BTS)and the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network(SIGN),SABAs are considered to be the first line of treatment in asthma *** National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence(NICE)guidelines also recommend the use of SABA as the first line of treatment for managing patients with *** recommendations in NICE guidelines state that in COPD patients,breathlessness and exercise limitation should be first medicated with short-acting bronchodilators(including β2-agonists or anticholinergics)when it is *** salbutamol and terbutaline have been widely used for asthma and COPD,and they have been found to be extremely beneficial in the two pathologic conditions.

Prediction of COVID-19 Confirmed, Death, and Cured Cases in India Using Random Forest Model

A novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2) is an unusual viral pneumonia in patients, first found in late December 2019, latter it declared a pandemic by World Health Organizations because of its fatal effects on public health. In this present, cases of COVID-19 pandemic are exponentially increasing day by day in the whole world. Here, we are detecting the COVID-19 cases, i.e., confirmed, death, and cured cases in India only. We are performing this analysis based on the cases occurring in different states of India in chronological dates. Our dataset contains multiple classes so we are performing multi-class classification. On this dataset, first, we performed data cleansing and feature selection, then performed forecasting of all classes using random forest, linear model, support vector machine,decision tree, and neural network, where random forest model outperformed the others, therefore, the random forest is used for prediction and analysis of all the results. The K-fold cross-validation is performed to measure the consistency of the model.
