Additive manufacturing(AM)is a free-form technology that shows great potential in the integrated creation of three-dimensional(3D)electronics.However,the fabrication of 3D conformal circuits that fulfill the requirements of high service temperature,high conductivity and high resolution remains a challenge.In this paper,a hybrid AM method combining the fused deposition modeling(FDM)and hydrophobic treatment assisted laser activation metallization(LAM)was proposed for manufacturing the polyetheretherketone(PEEK)-based 3D electronics,by which the conformal copper patterns were deposited on the 3D-printed PEEK parts,and the adhesion between them reached the 5B high level.Moreover,the 3D components could support the thermal cycling test from-55℃ to 125℃ for more than 100 cycles.Particularly,the application of a hydrophobic coating on the FDM-printed PEEK before LAM can promote an ideal catalytic selectivity on its surface,not affected by the inevitable printing borders and pores in the FDM-printed parts,then making the resolution of the electroless plated copper lines improved significantly.In consequence,Cu lines with width and spacing of only60μm and 100μm were obtained on both as-printed and after-polished PEEK substrates.Finally,the potential of this technique to fabricate 3D conformal electronics was demonstrated.

Thermoporometry(TPM) is a calorimetric-based technique for characterizing pore structure according to the freezing and melting point depression of liquid confined in pores which attributes to a varying phase-transition free energy by interface curvature.TPM has demonstrated an emerging success in applications for determining the mesopores of cement-based materials in recent decades.To improve its resolution and accuracy,this paper discussed these factors which show a great influence on the baseline heat flow and the derived pore structure using two molecular sieves with discontinuous size for calibration,referring to the sample handling,the mass of sample and the varying temperature.The pore size distributions of ordinary and high-strength concrete by TPM were favorably compared to the results taken by nitrogen adsorption/desorption(NAD) and mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP).The results illustrated that both the accuracy and resolution improve with the decreasing cooling/heating rate until 1 °C/min;however,if the rate is too slow,it can lead to an unstable result.The mass of the sample tested has much less an effect on the accuracy when it increases to more than 30 mg.TPM is demonstrated to be more accurate to characterize the mesopores with the size bigger than 4 nm as compared to NAD and MIP.

A method for improving lateral resolution and reducing imaging distortion of optical subtraction microscopy is proposed.First, an azimuthally polarized(AP) light is modulated by an annular aperture.Then, an image with higher lateral resolution is obtained by subtracting an image obtained by an annular AP beam from an image obtained by a radially polarized beam.The simulation results demonstrate that compared with the case without the annular aperture, negative side-lobes in the effective point spread function are effectively suppressed, and the imaging quality of subtraction microscopy is obviously enhanced.

Entity resolution(ER)is a significant task in data integration,which aims to detect all entity profiles that correspond to the same real-world entity.Due to its inherently quadratic complexity,blocking was proposed to ameliorate ER,and it offers an approximate solution which clusters similar entity profiles into blocks so that it suffices to perform pair-wise comparisons inside each block in order to reduce the computational cost of ER.This paper presents a comprehensive survey on existing blocking technologies.We summarize and analyze all classic blocking methods with emphasis on different blocking construction and optimization techniques.We find that traditional blocking ER methods which depend on the fixed schema may not work in the context of highly heterogeneous information spaces.How to use schema information flexibly is of great significance to efficiently process data with the new features of this era.Machine learning is an important tool for ER,but end-to-end and efficient machine learning methods still need to be explored.We also sum up and provide the most promising trend for future work from the directions of real-time blocking ER,incremental blocking ER,deep learning with ER,etc.

Video inpainting is a technique that fills in the missing regions or gaps in a video by using its known pixels.The existing video inpainting algorithms are computationally expensive and introduce seam in the target region that arises due to variation in brightness or contrast of the patches.To overcome these drawbacks,the authors propose a novel two-stage framework.In the first step,sub-bands of wavelets of a low-resolution image are obtained using the dualtree complex wavelet transform.Criminisi algorithm and auto-regression technique are then applied to these subbands to inpaint the missing regions.The fuzzy logic-based histogram equalisation is used to further enhance the image by preserving the image brightness and improve the local contrast.In the second step,the image is enhanced using super-resolution technique.The process of down-sampling,inpainting and subsequently enhancing the video using the super-resolution technique reduces the video inpainting time.The framework is tested on video sequences by comparing and analysing the structural similarity index matrix,peak-signal-to-noise ratio,visual information fidelity in pixel domain and execution time with the state-of-the-art algorithms.The experimental analysis gives visually pleasing results for object removal and error concealment.

Probes are the interface between microsystems and bio-cells.The ideal interface is one-to-one interface.Though various research groups have been able to establish some sort of interfaces after many years of research,they are very crude.Neurons are millions in numbers,whereas the prostheses successfully built so far have only a few hundred probes at best.Creating an ef- fective interface is still far away.Though we have micro-and nano-technologies,we couldn't build a prosthesis with an effective resolution.Main reasons behind it are the type of probe being used and the poor design of the probe.To address this problem,we developed a methodology to design a probe and an array of probes with better resolution and less resistive donut probe.This methodology helps us to design a probe optimizing all the parameters.We presented our methodology through a design that is capable of 70 μm penetration inside the tissue.The tissue heating by our designed probe is only 0.411 °C.We also characterized the donut probe,which could be used by any research group to design a donut probe of their specific need.

In Lamb wave-based Structural Health Monitoring(SHM), a high-enough spatial resolution is highly required for Lamb wave signals to ensure the resolution and accuracy of damage detection. However, besides the dispersion characteristic, the signal spatial resolution is also largely restricted by the space duration of excitation waveforms, i.e., the Initial Spatial resolution(ISR)for the signals before travelling. To resolve the problem of inferior signal spatial resolution of Lamb waves, a Lamb Wave Signal Reconstruction(LWSR) method is presented and applied for highresolution damage imaging in this paper. In LWSR, not only a new linearly-dispersive signal is reconstructed from an original Lamb wave signal, but also the group velocity at the central frequency is sufficiently decreased. Then, both dispersion compensation and ISR improvement can be realized to achieve a satisfying signal spatial resolution. After the frequency domain sensing model and spatial resolution of Lamb wave signals are firstly analyzed, the basic idea and numerical realization of LWSR are discussed. Numerical simulations are also implemented to preliminarily validate LWSR. Subsequently, LWSR-based high-resolution damage imaging is developed. An experiment of adjacent multiple damage identification is finally conducted to demonstrate the efficiency of LWSR and LWSR-based imaging methods.

AIM To image stomach wall blood vessels and tissue, layerby-layer.METHODS We built up the acoustic resolution photoacoustic microscopy(AR-PAM) system for imaging layered tissues, such as the stomach wall. A tunable dye laser system was coupled to a fiber bundle. The fibers of the bundle were placed in nine directions with an incident angle of 45° around a high-frequency ultrasound transducer attached to the acoustic lens. This structure formed a dark field on the tissue surface under the acoustic lens and the nine light beams from the fibers to be combined near the focal point of the acoustic lens. The sample piece was cut from a part of the porcine stomach into a petri dish. In order to realize photoacoustic depth imaging of tumor, we designed a tumor model based on indocyanine green(ICG) dye. The ICG solution(concentration of 129 μM/m L)was mixed into molten gel, and then a gel mixture of ICG(concentration of 12.9 μM/mL) was injected into the stomach submucosa. The injection quantity was controlled by 0.1 mL to make a small tumor model. RESULTS An acoustic resolution photoacoustic microscopy based on fiber illumination was established and an axial resolution of 25 μm and a lateral resolution of 50 μm in its focal zone range of 500 μm has been accomplished. We tuned the laser wavelength to 600 nm. The photoacoustic probe was driven to do B-scan imaging in tissue thickness of 200 μm. The photoacoustic micro-image of mucosa and submucosa of the tissue have been obtained and compared with a pathological photograph of the tissue stained by hematoxylin-eosin staining. We have observed more detailed internal structure of the tissue. We also utilized this photoacoustic microscopy to image blood vessels inside the submucosa. High contrast imaging of the submucosa tumor model was obtained using ICG dye. CONCLUSION This AR-PAM is able to image layer-by-layer construction and some blood vessels under mucosa in the stomach wall without any contrast agents.

This paper first visits uniqueness, scale, and resolution issues in groundwater flow forward modeling problems. It then makes the point that non-unique solutions to groundwater flow inverse problems arise from a lack of information necessary to make the problems well defined. Subsequently, it presents the necessary conditions for a well-defined inverse problem. They are full specifications of （1） flux boundaries and sources/sinks, and （2） heads everywhere in the domain at at least three times （one of which is t = 0）, with head change everywhere at those times being nonzero for transient flow. Numerical experiments are presented to corroborate the fact that, once the necessary conditions are met, the inverse problem has a unique solution. We also demonstrate that measurement noise, instability, and sensitivity are issues related to solution techniques rather than the inverse problems themselves. In addition, we show that a mathematically well-defined inverse problem, based on an equivalent homogeneous or a layered conceptual model, may yield physically incorrect and scenario-dependent parameter values. These issues are attributed to inconsistency between the scale of the head observed and that implied by these models. Such issues can be reduced only if a sufficiently large number of observation wells are used in the equivalent homogeneous domain or each layer. With a large number of wells, we then show that increase in parameterization can lead to a higher-resolution depiction of heterogeneity if an appropriate inverse methodology is used. Furthermore, we illustrate that, using the same number of wells, a highly parameterized model in conjunction with hydraulic tomography can yield better characterization of the aquifer and minimize the scale and scenario-dependent problems. Lastly, benefits of the highly parameterized model and hydraulic tomography are tested according to their ability to improve predictions of aquifer responses induced by independent stresses not used in the inverse modeling efforts.

The orientation and position of the trypsin molecule in the complex crystal cell mung bean trypsin inhibitor Lys fragment （MBILF）-bovine trypsin （BTRY） have been successfully determined by molecular replacement method with the model of the refined bovine trypsin molecule.Starting from the BTRY coordinates which were oriented and located in the correct azimuth and position in the complex cell according to the result from rotation function and translation function, sim-weighted Fourier map with coefficients 2|F|-|F| at 3.0 resolution was calculated.Besides the electron density which is obviously attributed to itself, in the vicinity of the active site of BTRY the dense contour levels corresponding to the MBILF and its boundary could be clearly seen in this map. The size of MBILF was approximately estimated at 15×15×25.
