The Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS),including the US’s GPS,China’s BDS,the European Union’s Galileo,and Russia’s GLONASS,offer real-time,all-weather,any-time,anywhere and high precision observations by transmitting L band signals continuously,which have been widely used for positioning,navigation and *** the development of GNSS technology,it has been found that GNSS-reflected signals can be used to detect Earth’s surface characteristics together with other signals of *** this paper,the current status and latest advances are presented on Global Navigation Satellite System-Reflectometry(GNSS-R)in theory,methods,techniques and *** developments and progresses in GNSS-R instruments,theoretical modeling,and signal processing,ground and space-/air-borne experiments,parameters retrieval(*** speed,sea surface height,soil moisture,ice thickness),sea surface altimetry and applications in the atmosphere,oceans,land,vegetation,and cryosphere are given and reviewed in ***,the challenges in the GNSS-R development of each field are also ***,the future applications and prospects of GNSS-R are discussed,including multi-GNSS reflectometry,new GNSS-R receivers,GNSS-R missions,and emerging applications,such as mesoscale ocean eddies,ocean phytoplankton blooms,microplastics detection,target recognition,river flow,desert studies,natural hazards and landslides monitoring.

Reliable estimation of region-wide rice yield is vital for food security and agricultural ***-scale models have increased our understanding of rice yield and its estimation under theoretical environmental ***,they offer little infor-mation on spatial variability effects on farm-scale *** sensing(RS)is a useful tool to upscale yield estimates from farm scales to regional *** research used RS with rice models for reliable yield *** several countries start to operatio-nalize rice monitoring systems,it is needed to synthesize current literature to identify knowledge gaps,to improve estimation accuracies,and to optimize *** paper critically reviewed significant developments in using geospatial methods,imagery,and quantitative models to estimate rice ***,essential characteristics of rice were discussed as detected by optical and radar sensors,band selection,sensor configuration,spatial resolution,mapping methods,and biophysical variables of rice derivable from RS ***,various empirical,process-based,and semi-empirical models that used RS data for spatial estimation of yield were critically assessed-discussing how major types of models,RS platforms,data assimilation algorithms,canopy state variables,and RS variables can be integrated for yield ***,to overcome current constraints and to improve accuracies,several possibilities were suggested-adding new modeling modules,using alternative canopy variables,and adopting novel modeling *** rice yields are expected to decrease due to global warming,geospatial rice yield estimation techniques are indispensable tools for climate change *** studies should focus on resolving the current limitations of estimation by precise delineation of rice cultivars,by incorporating dynamic harvesting indices based on climatic drivers,using innovative modeling approaches with machine learning.

The two-dimensional Logistic memristive hyperchaotic map(2D-LMHM)and the secure hash SHA-512 are the foundations of the unique remote sensing image encryption algorithm(RS-IEA)suggested in this *** proposed map is formed from the improved Logistic map and the memristor,which has wide phase space and hyperchaotic range and is exceptionally excellent to be utilized in specific *** proposed image algorithm uses the permutation-assignment-diffusion *** generates two position matrices in a progressive manner to achieve an efficient random exchange of pixel positions,assignment is carried through on the image pixels of the permutated image to entirely remove the original image information,strengthening the relationship between permutation and diffusion,and loop diffusion in two different directions can use subtle changes of pixels to affect the whole *** random key and plain-image SHA-512 hash values are used to produce an additional key,which is then utilized to figure out the permutation parameters and the initial value of a chaotic *** experimental results with the average NPCR=99.6094%(NPCR:number of pixels change rate),average UACI=33.4638%(UACI:unified average changing intensity),100%pass rate of the targets in the test set,the average correlation coefficient is 0.00075,and the local information entropy is 7.9025,which shows that the algorithm is able to defend against a variety of illegal attacks and provide more trustworthy protection than some of the existing state-of-the-art algorithms.

World-wide urbanization has significantly modified the landscape, which has important climatic implications across all scales due to the simultaneous removal of natural land cover and introduction of urban materials. This resulted in a phenomenon known as an urban heat island(UHI). A study on the UHI in Xiamen of China was carried out using remote sensing technology. Satellite thermal infrared images were used to determine surface radiant temperatures. Thermal remote sensing data were obtained from band 6 of two Landsat TM/ETM\++ images of 1989 and 2000 to observe the UHI changes over 11-year period. The thermal infrared bands were processed through several image enhancement technologies. This generated two 3-dimension-perspective images of Xiamen's urban heat island in 1989 and 2000, respectively, and revealed heat characteristics and spatial distribution features of the UHI. To find out the change of the UHI between 1989 and 2000, the two thermal images were first normalized and scaled to seven grades to reduce seasonal difference and then overlaid to produce a difference image by subtracting corresponding pixels. The difference image showed an evident development of the urban heat island in the 11 years. This change was due largely to the urban expansion with a consequent alteration in the ratio of sensible heat flux to latent heat flux. To quantitatively compare UHI, an index called Urban-Heat-Island Ratio Index(URI) was created. It can reveal the intensity of the UHI within the urban area. The calculation of the index was based on the ratio of UHI area to urban area. The greater the index, the more intense the UHI was. The calculation of the index for the Xiamen City indicated that the ratio of UHI area to urban area in 2000 was less than that in 1989. In India, land resources have reached a critical stage due to the rapidly growing population. This challenge requires an integrated approach toward harnes- sing land resources, while taking into account the vulnerable environmental conditions. remote sensing and Geographical Information System （GIS） based technologies may be applied to an area in order to generate a sustainable development plan that is optimally suited to the terrain and to the productive potential of the local resources. The present study area is a part of the middle Ganga plain, known as Son-Karamnasa interfluve, in India. Alternative land use systems and the integration of livestock enterprises with the agricultural system have been suggested for land resources management. The objective of this paper is to prepare a land resource development plan in order to increase the productivity of land for sustainable development. The present study will contribute necessary input for policy makers to improve the socio-eeonomic and environmental conditions of the region.

Using three-phase remote sensing images of China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 02B (CBERS02B) and Landsat-5 TM, tobacco field was extracted by the analysis of time series image based on the different phenological characteristics between tobacco and other crops. The spectral characteristics of tobacco and corn in luxuriant growth stage are very similar, which makes them difficult to be distinguished using a single-phase remote sensing image. Field film after tobacco seedlings transplanting can be used as significant sign to identify tobacco. remote sensing interpre- tation map based on the fusion image of TM and CBERS02B's High-Resolution (HR) camera image was used as stan- dard reference material to evaluate the classification accuracy of Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) and Maximum Like- lihood Classifier (MLC) for time series image based on full samples test method. SAM has higher classification accu- racy and stability than MLC in dealing with time series image. The accuracy and Kappa of tobacco coverage extracted by SAM are 83.4% and 0.692 respectively, which can achieve the accuracy required by tobacco coverage measurement in a large area.

Digital Earth is an information-rich expression of the real Earth and is a new way of understanding the Earth in the twenty-first *** has found great potentialities in Digital Earth,strongly increasing its development and its interdisciplinary *** the rapid development of remote sensing,the importance of applying Earth observation technology to archeological research has caught a great amount of attention *** objective of this study is to apply Radarsat-1 and Landsat imagery,historical maps,and aerial photographs in the detection and verification of disappeared reservoirs built 500 years ago as part of the Grand Canal of *** results of the study show that the potential sites present distinct variations in soil moisture,biomass,and biological vigor,characterized by weak backscattering in Radarsat imagery;high vegetation indices in Landsat imagery;and distinct anomalies in a Landsat principle components *** maps and aerial photographs also verified the existence of the sites of disappeared *** the sites have so far not been extensively explored,the results should represent a significant contribution to the understanding of the Grand Canal of China and its auxiliary facilities.
