remanufacturing is widely recognized as beneficial to the environment and a circular economy. However, remanufacturing is more complex than traditional manufacturing due to the effects of government policy, uncertainty of consumer preferences, competition and cooperation among firms, and so on. These factors motivate academics to optimize remanufacturing outcomes, especially for product pricing and production. This study reviews the published literature on pricing and production strategies in remanufacturing from four perspectives of supply chain, namely, government policy, consumer characteristics, relationships among firms, and supply chain structures. Review results can benefit scholars/practitioners in the future by highlighting the challenges and opportunities in remanufacturing strategies.

This paper studies the procurement management of carbon financial instruments and the production decisions for an emission-dependent remanufacturing firm under service requirements.In the presence of demand uncertainty,carbon emission options are introduced to hedge risks for the firm who purchases carbon financial instruments under a cap-flexible emission trading scheme(ETS)and then conducts remanufacturing.We develop three optimization models to determine the optimal remanufacturing quantity(procurement quantity of carbon financial instruments)maximizing the firm's expected profit under three contracts:a pure wholesale price contract,a pure carbon option contract,and a portfolio contract.Through analyses and comparisons of optimal solutions,we demonstrate the values of introducing carbon options and committing to service levels for the firm.Compared with the other two pure contracts,the portfolio contract makes the firm better off.However,high service requirements may lead to a profit loss to the firm.We generalize to the cases when the yield rate is dependent on the quality of used products,when the yield is stochastic,and when carbon price performs volatility.Discussion of these extensions illuminates how the variability of used product quality,yield rate and carbon price influences the firm's performances.

The transition from a linear economy to a CE(circular economy)has the potential to reduce resource use,environmental impacts,and waste in the built environment.Creating a CE in the built environment is therefore of fundamental importance to achieve a sustainable society.Through the application of a systemic approach that considers the building as a set of technological subsystems(e.***.vertical closures,roof,furniture,etc.),components(e.***.infill panels),and materials,this paper-starting from a review of the literature on the topic of the CE applied to construction-establishes a framework of circular design strategies and definitions that link the VRPs(value retention processes)framework,based on the R-imperatives,to the Design-for-X strategies.The first research objective is to develop a design tool for circular building components and technological subsystems.

The different conditions of use of a component result in a variety of damage levels.Therefore,excluding differences in shape and size,used parts show a high degree of uncertainty regarding failure characteristics,quality conditions,and remaining life,which seriously affects the efficiency of a remanufacturing scheme design.Aiming to address this problem,a remanufacturing scheme design method based on the reconstruction of incomplete information of used parts is proposed.First,the remaining life of the reconstructed model is predicted by finite element analysis,and the demand for the next life cycle is determined.Second,the scanned 3D damage point cloud data are registered with the original point cloud data using the integral iterative method to construct a missing point cloud model to achieve the restoration of geometric information.Then,according to reverse engineering and laser cladding remanufacturing,the tool remanufacturing process path can be generated by the tool contact point path section line method.Finally,the proposed method is adopted for turbine blades to evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed scheme.This study proposes a remanufacturing scheme design method based on the incomplete reconstruction of used part information to solve the uncertain and highly personalized problems in remanufacturing.

Based on the pulsed plasma arc welding(PPAW),a rapid remanufacturing shaping system,including a structured light scanning reverse engineering(RE)system,a robot system and a PPAW source system have been developed.The new rapid remanufacturing shaping system can rapidly and accurately repair the worn parts with different damaged degrees and thus extend their life cycle.In the present paper,the whole process of repairing worn parts is described.Firstly,the scanning model of a worn part is obtained by using RE system based on reconstructing approach.Compared with standard CAD model in the undamaged setting,the surface profile and the extent of damage area are obtained.Secondly,the weld repair path is designed by slicing the point cloud model of damage area.This path consists of multilayer parallel lines that produce parallel overlapped weld beads which cover the damaged area.By off-line programming techniques,the robot executable program as document format is transmitted to the robot controller for repairing worn parts.Finally,the weld repair experiments on worn steel plane plate and damaged column are performed to evaluate the remanufacturing system.

Numerical Calculation and Experimental Research on Crack Arrest by Detour Effect and Joule Heating of High Pulsed Current in remanufacturing

The remanufacturing blanks with cracks were considered as irreparable. With utilization of detour effect and Joule heating of pulsed current, a technique to arrest the crack in martensitic stainless steel FV520B is developed. According to finite element theory, the finite element（FE） model of the cracked rectangular specimen is established firstly. Then, based on electro-thermo-structure coupled theory, the distributions of current density, temperature field, and stress field are calculated for the instant of energizing. Furthermore, the simulation results are verified by some corresponding experiments performed on high pulsed current discharge device of type HCPD-I. Morphology and microstructure around the crack tip before and after electro pulsing treatment are observed by optical microscope（OM） and scanning electron microscope（SEM）, and then the diameters of fusion zone and heat affected zone（HAZ） are measured in order to contrast with numerical calculation results. Element distribution, nano-indentation hardness and residual stress in the vicinity of the crack tip are surveyed by energy dispersive spectrometer（EDS）, scanning probe microscopy（SPM） and X-ray stress gauge, respectively. The results show that the obvious partition and refined grain around the crack tip can be observed due to the violent temperature change. The contents of carbon and oxygen in fusion zone and HAZ are higher than those in matrix, and however the hardness around the crack tip decreases. Large residual compressive stress is induced in the vicinity of the crack tip and it has the same order of magnitude for measured results and numerical calculation results that is 100 MPa. The relational curves between discharge energies and diameters of the fusion zone and HAZ are obtained by experiments. The difference of diameter of fusion zone between measured and calculated results is less than 18.3%. Numerical calculation is very useful to define the experimental parameters. Motivated by the fact that the product remanufacturing operations are increasingly performed as firms,competitive advantage and may also play an important role in the choice of channel structure,we construct game-theoretical models to examine the manufacturer's optimal sales channel strategy in a closed-loop supply chain(CLSC),in which the manufacturer is responsible for used product recycling and remanufacturing and the retailer operates a traditional retail channel.We show that the manufacturer's optimal sales channel selection depends on the customers7 acceptance of the direct channel and the remanufacturing efficiency.Specifically,in the centralized system,the manufacturer would prefer the dual-channel strategy rather than either the exclusive direct or retail channel,and becomes more willing to introduce a direct channel as the remanufacturing cost savings increase.However,in a decentralized system,there exists a Pareto improvement zone where both the manufacturer and the retailer are better off in the dual-channel format,and the increasing remanufacturing efficiency spills over to the retailer via a lower wholesale price and thus a higher retail demand.Moreover,we extend the study to the retailer-collecting mode and demonstrate that the main results of the original model remain robust.

Design for remanufacturing(DfRem)is the process of considering remanufacturing characteristics during product design in order to reduce the number of issues during the remanufacturing stage.This decisionmaking in DfRem is influenced by the designers'subjective preferences owing to a lack of explicitly defined remanufacturing knowledge for designers,which can lead to indecisive design schemes.In order to objectively select the optimal design scheme for remanufacturing,a nonempirical hybrid multi-attribute decision-making method is presented to alleviate the impacts of subjective factors.In this method,design characteristics and demand information are characterized through the matter-element theory.Coupled with design principles,some initial design schemes are proposed.Evaluation criteria are established considering the technical,economic,and environmental factors.The entropy weight and vague set are used to determine the optimal design scheme via a multi-attribute decision・making approach.The design of a bearing assembly machine for remanufacturing is taken as an example to illustrate the practicality and validity of the proposed method.The results revealed that the proposed method was effective in the decision-making of DfRem.

remanufacturing system is a term of green system project which conforms to the national sustainable development strategy. With the demand of the high adaptability of the varieties of waste machining parts, the short product cycle, the low machining cost and the high product quality are offered. Each step of the remanufacturing system from the beginning of the scanning to the accomplishment of the welding was investigted. Aiming at building a remanufacturing system based on totally automatic MIG surfacing via robot, advanced information technology, remanufacturing technology and management, through the control of the pretreatment and the optimization to minimize the time of remanufacturing and realize the remanufacturing on the terminal products of varieties, were applied. The steps mainly include: 1) using the visual sensor which is installed at the end of the Robot to rapidly get the outline data of the machining part and the pretreatment of the data; 2) rebuilding the curved surface based on the outline data and the integrated CAD material object model; 3) building the remanufacturing model based on the CAD material object model and projecting the remanufacturing process; and 4) accomplishing the remanufacture of the machining part by the technology of MIG surfacing.

Failure, especially induced by cracks, usually occurred in the service process of chemical equipment, which could cause the medium leakage, fire hazard and explosion and induced the personnel casualty and economic losses. To assure the long-term and safety service, it is necessary to apply the remanufacturing technology on the chemical equipment containing cracks. The recent research advances on the remanufacturing, the failure modes and the life extension technology for chemical equipment were reviewed. The engineering strategy of the remanufacturing for the chemical equipment was proposed, which could provide a reasonable and reliable technical route for the remanufacturing operation of chemical equipment. In the strategy, the redesign was also been considered.
