A novel operation control method for relay protection in flexible DC distribution networks with distributed power supply is proposed to address the issue of inaccurate fault location during relay protection,leading to poor performance.The method combines a fault-tolerant fault location method based on long-term and short-term memory networks to accurately locate the fault section.Then,an operation control method for relay protection based on adaptive weight and whale optimization algorithm(WOA)is used to construct an objective function considering the shortest relay protection action time and the smallest impulse current.The adaptive weight and WOA are employed to obtain the optimal strategy for relay protection operation control,reducing the action time and impulse current.Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in accurately locating faults and improving relay protection performance.The longest operation time is reduced by 4.7023 s,and the maximum impulse current is limited to 0.3 A,effectively controlling the impact of large impulse currents and enhancing control efficiency.

To ensure their sound and continuous operation to the greatest extent,VSC-based DC girds have extremely stringent requirements for transmission line relay protection.In terms of guaranteeing their reliability,accurate identification of lightning strikes on DC transmission lines is one of the urgent key problems to be solved.An effective ultra-high-speed identification scheme of lightning strikes suitable for the VSC-based DC grid is proposed in this paper.First,an 1-mode reverse voltage traveling wave(RVTW)is constructed applying the pole-mode transformation theory.Next,fault traveling wave propagation characteristics along the DC transmission line are analyzed in depth utilizing Peterson's law.Then,differences of time-frequency electromagnetic transient characteristics of 1-mode RVTWs between disturbances and faults caused by lightning strikes are distinguished in detail by means of the classical wavelet transformation multi-resolution analysis theory.Finally,extensive simulations are carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed identification scheme,and by which its excellent rapidity,reliability and robustness are validated.Index Terms-Lightning-strike identification,Multi-resolution analysis,relay protection,Traveling-wave protection,VsC-based DC grid,Wavelet transformation.

Due to the low overcurrent capacity of the inverter-based microgrid,traditional overcurrent protect is not suitable for the entire power system including microgrid.A fast detecting method and a whole protection scheme is needed to identify the fault and keep the system stable.This paper proposes a microgrid relay protection scheme combining a fast fault detection algorithm and low voltage ride through(LVRT)strategy.The detection algorithm combines a new harmonic analysis method and impedance delay which can complete fault detection within several milliseconds.Under a fault condition,the LVRT strategy utilizes an enhanced phase-locked loop(EPLL)to allow the microgrid to operate under unbalanced conditions for a period of time.In addition,for the dispatch requirements of power system,it also has communication based power compensation functionality.The scheme given in this paper is verified by simulation,verifying feasibility of its application in practice.

This paper introduces the design and implementation of relay protection fault information intelligent analysis system in Fujian Smart Grid. The system integrated in the smart grid dispatching technology support system as a senior application module seamlessly. It can share information with the SCADA system, and make the unified model of primary equipment and secondary equipment. Through the accurate identification of switch on-off information, SOE information, relay protection action information, relay protection decentralized record ,fault recorder file, PMU dynamic measurement data, the fault recording file of PMU, the system can provide a detailed comprehensive analysis of the actual trip accident, including much helpful information, such as fault equipment, fault type, fault phase, and so forth. At the same time, the system can provide intelligent decision support for the dispatcher to shorten the processing time of the accident.

relay protection is a key part of the operation in the power plant, it can protect the safety of power plants. With the reform and development of power plants, the safe operation of relay protection is facing greater pressure, it needs to meet the needs of power plants to complete security protection, to avoid causing safety incidents. Power plant operation is very focused on the application of relay protection, through the protection of power plants to maintain the safety. However, the safety management of power plant relay protection involves a wide range, and requires a high degree of professionalism and technical, in the relay protection work has a greater difficulty. Therefore, this paper analyzes the role and significance of relay protection, combined with the application of power plant relay protection, put forward the precautions for safe operation of relay protection. The implementation of these theories can improve the accuracy of the relay protection in the power plant, ensure the normal work of the relay protection equipment in the event of failure, ensure the safe production of the power plant and improve the economic benefit of the power plant.

Power technology is developing rapidly, the community for the power quality requirements are more stringent, smart grid technology continues to apply and gradually mature. But in the power supply and distribution system, the power supply capacity cannot meet the needs of the community for electricity, and there are insecurity grid factors. relay protection technology as a smart grid in a critical technology, its development and application should be of concern. Electric power system reliability of the relay protection, security requirements become more stringent. According to the basic characteristics of smart grid, as well as the traditional relay protection tuning technology, this paper expounds the important significance of relay protection in smart grid environment, a brief analysis of the smart grid system, and then analyses the technology of relay protection in smart grid environment, finally, the concept of wide area protection function and system structure are discussed, and the analysis of the principle and characteristics of the main algorithm of wide area protection.

Accurate conditions monitoring and early wrong action warnings of relay protection in the Smart Substation is the basic guarantee to realize the normal operation of primary and secondary system of the power grid.At present,the traditional operation and maintenance monitoring methods of relay protections have poor timeliness,while some automatic monitoring methods have insufficient early warning performance,and lack the online action deduction function independent of the actual device.In this paper,a design method of integrated action deduction system including protection logic reasoning and software and hardware operation condition is proposed.The system can receive real-time operation information of protection online,simulate different types of faults,and output the recording information of sub modules belongs to the action deduction system.It can realize the online monitoring of device faults such as deducing the correctness of setting values at a certain time in the future,giving the wrong action warnings and predicting the probability of them as well,which effectively improves the operation and maintenance efficiency of the secondary system in the intelligent substation.

The reliability analysis of vertically integrated protection devices is crucial for designing International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC)61850-based substations.This paper presents the hardware architecture of a four-inone vertically integrated device and the information transmission path of each function based on the functional information transmission chain of protection devices,measurement and control devices,merging units,and intelligent terminals.Additionally,a reliability analysis model of the protection device and its protection system is constructed using the fault tree analysis method while considering the characteristics of each module of the vertically integrated device.The stability probability of the protection system in each state is analyzed by combining the state-transfer equations of line and busbar protection with a Markov chain.Finally,the failure rate and availability of the protection device and its protection system are calculated under different ambient temperatures using a 110 kV intelligent substation as an example.The sensitivity of each device module is analyzed.

With the development of large-scale complicated modern power systems, the requirement for the associated protection scheme tends to be more stringent and its combination more complex. However, it is very difficult to figure out the factors of failure of such systems. This paper proposes a Petri net model of a transmission line protection relaying system, including three types of relays as well as an automatic reclosing device, and shows how to diagnose serial failure of the system by analyzing invariant sets of the model. Furthermore, it gives four basic types of failure sequences and its execution is much more intuitive and effective than the traditional method.

This paper analyzes the problems of the relay protections and secondary circuits of traditional substations,and introduces the hierarchical protection and control system of smart substations based on the technologies like IEC 61850 Standard,electronic instrument transformer,process level network,and wide area optical fiber communication network,etc.The hierarchical protection and control system includes three levels:local area protection,substation area protection and control,and wide area protection and control.These three levels are combined to solve the problems of the relay protections in traditional substations,thus improving protection performance and control capability of the system.
