Stability analysis of reference station and compensation for monitoring stations in GNSS landslide monitoring

The Real-Time Kinematic(RTK)positioning method of the Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)has been widely used for landslide monitoring.The stability of its reference station is crucial to obtain accurate and reliable monitoring results.Unstable reference stations due to the geological environment and human activities are difficult to detect and in practical applications often ignored.As a result,it affects the positioning solutions and subsequently the interpretation and detection of landslide motions,which must be addressed in GNSS landslide monitoring.To solve this problem,we propose using the Precise Point Positioning(PPP)technique to analyze the stability of the reference station by verifying its position.The deformations of the monitoring stations are then compensated.First,the reference station coordinates are obtained by the PPP technique and tectonic motion is considered in data processing.The change or breakout of the reference station position is then determined using a cumulative sum control chart method.Finally,each monitoring station’s displacements are compensated according to the displacements of the reference station.According to the results of the Tengqing landslide experiment,the PPP technique can be used in GNSS landslide monitoring to analyze the stability of reference stations.With PPP,millimeter-level accuracy for the coordinates of reference stations is achieved.Compared to the traditional deformation series,the compensated displacement series more reliably reflects the landslide motions.This study will increase the reliability of monitoring results and contribute to implementing GNSS in monitoring landslides.

Improving the initialization speed for long-range NRTK in network solution mode

Initialization speed is one of the most important factors in network real time kinematic(NRTK)performance.Owing to the low correlation among the error sources of reference stations,it is difficult to fix reference station ambiguities of long-range NRTK quickly.In traditional reference stations ambiguity resolution(AR)methods,baselines are usually solved independently which is called baseline solution(BS)mode in this study.Because the correlations among baselines are not taken into consideration in ambiguities estimation,the AR speed is slow.Generally,tens of minutes or longer time is required to initialize.We propose a network solution(NS)mode approach,in which the correlations among the double-difference ambiguities(DDAs)as well as double-difference ionospheric delays(DDIDs)of different baselines are considered in estimating float ambiguity solutions.Experimental results show that the float ambiguity solutions obtained are more accurate with an improved consistency.Thus,initialization speed is significantly increased by 18%in NS mode.

The Synoptic Climatology of Monthly Mean Surface Temperature in Asia in Relation to the 700 hPa Circulation

The synoptic climatology of monthly mean surface air temperature anomaly (MMATA) at 47 surface stations in Asia is assessed by two types of maps. The first consists of simple linear correlation coefficients between the MMATA at a station and the monthly mean 700 hPa height anomaly (MMHA) at 134 grid points in the Northern Hemisphere. In winter, these fields generally contain two equally important centers: a center of maximum positive correlation approximately 1300 km from the reference station and a negative center about 2800 km to its northwest. In summer, the positive center is located an average of 800 km from the reference station and strongly dominates the MMATA, while the negative center is no longer as important as in winter. The second kind of map is a special type of anomaly composite, constructed by multiplying the correlation coefficient at each grid point by the standard deviation of MMHA at the same point. This map shows the optimum distribution of height anomalies for abnormally warm (or cold) weather for winter and summer in each of several climatologically similar regions into which Asia is subdivided.

BDSBAS broadcasts SBAS corrections and integrity information via BDSBAS-B1 C signals of BeiDou-3 GEO satellites to improve the accuracy and integrity for GPS L1 CA single-frequency users in BDSBAS service area. However, if the GPS receiver type and technical status of BDSBAS reference station is quite different from the receiver of GPS ground operational control system and the BDSBAS receivers do not fully refer to the receivers of GPS ground operational control system to adjust the correlator spacing and front-end bandwidth, there will be inevitable relative pseudorange bias between the BDSBAS receivers and GPS ground operational control system receivers. Pseudorange bias is an important factor restricting the performance of BDSBAS singlefrequency service. This contribution analyzes the impact of GPS satellite pseudorange bias on the accuracy of BDSBAS single-frequency service, and then proposes a pseudorange bias correction method based on the Timing Group Delay（TGD） parameters, which can eliminate the impact of pseudorange bias on the GPS L1 CA SBAS positioning accuracy and improve the single-frequency service performance of BDSBAS. Six stations in the BDSBAS service area are used to carry out GPS L1 CA SBAS positioning experiment, the experiment results reveal that the average 95% positioning accuracy has a significant improvement after using the mentioned method to correct the pseudorange bias. The positioning errors are reduced from 1.70 m to 1.38 m and from 2.83 m to 2.29 m in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively.

The development of multi-GNSS remarkably increased the number of available satellites, but how to solve the multi-dimensional ambiguity parameters quickly and accurately in network RTK technology is still an issue full of perplexity and significance. To ensure the virtual station have more available satellites under the occlusion environment, a fast ambiguity resolution method for base station based on ambiguity tight constraint was proposed in this paper. Firstly, the optimal subset of ambiguity is selected by partial ambiguity resolution(PAR) strategy, and then impose strong constraints on the ambiguities of these satellites. Finally, update the filter equation and assist in fixing the ambiguity of other satellites. The real measured baseline data which contain GPS, BDS and GLONASS from Tianjin CORS and Curtin University was used in the experiments, and the results illustrated that this method could significantly shorten the initialization time of ambiguity between base stations, accelerate the convergence speed of newly-arisen satellites, and increase the number of available satellites of RTK virtual observations(especially low-elevation angle satellites), that providing a reliable guarantee for high-precision positioning in the occlusion environment, such as the roads in cities.
