ZSM-5/MAPO Composite Catalyst for Converting Methanol to Olefins in a Two-Stage Unit with a Dimethyl Ether Pre-Reactor

A ZSM-5/MAPO composite catalyst was prepared by adding ZSM-5 zeolite powder to a conventional molecular sieve synthesis system, followed by modification with NH_4H_2PO_4. The samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, IR, NH_3-TPD, and BET analyses. The catalytic property of the samples toward the methanol-to-olefin(MTO) reaction was evaluated in a connected in series two-stage unit equipped with a continuous flow(once-through) fixed-bed tubular reactor similar to an industrial reactor. The first reactor mainly converted methanol into dimethyl ether and water, followed by being subject to continuous reaction in the second reactor, in which DME was converted to hydrocarbons. The composites exhibited the typical framework topology of MFI, AEI and AFI, which represented the ZSM-5 zeolite, the molecular sieves AlPO-18 or SAPO-18, AlPO-5 or SAPO-5, respectively. The composites showed several advantages for optimizing the zeolite acidity, enhancing the mass transfer, and restraining the side reactions. Catalytic reaction results showed that the composites exhibited higher selectivity to light olefins(84.0%) and lower selectivity to C_2―C_4 alkanes and C_5^+ hydrocarbons than pure ZSM-5. Moreover, the composite zeolite loaded with 3% of P demonstrated improved catalytic activity and stability for the conversion of methanol to propylene, because the coking rate was obviously suppressed.

Accent Goes to War and the Retreat of Conservative received Pronunciation

This paper describes how the once dominant dialect, conservative received Pronunciation, has seen its influence diminish dramatically since the mid-twentieth century. The author explains the historical rise to prominence of the dialect before highlighting a key moment in Britain's history that symbolised a weakening of conservative received Pronunciation's prestige and its hold on public life. This moment, during the early stages of World War Two, saw two English dialects employed by Germany on the one hand and Britain on the other in propaganda to win the hearts and minds of the British people. The paper gives details of the two key protagonists in this battle, William Joyce and John Boynton Priestley, better known as J.B.Priestley, along with an explanation of the events. The author concludes by discussing the implications of the decline in conservative received Pronunciation, particularly with reference to the English language classroom, as well as introducing a research project that aims to further explore these implications.

This effluent remediation research on discoloration tends to disagree with the use of commercial activated carbon as received from manufacturers. Product specification and authentication is a key task to chemists and scientist. Here, Batch kinetic studies via pseudo approximations treatments was adopted to to investigate the rate of Methyl Red (MR) dye solution uptake onto carbon animalis earlier received as Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) and later formulated as Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC). The rate of dye uptake was studied with data fitted in to the Lagergren’s pseudo first and second order kinetic models. Justification by the R2 values (0.984) for GACgreater than 0.865 for PAC, low statistical error (SSE%) range of 1.065 - 2.310 and closeness between the experimented and calculated qe values all favored the second order kinetic model. The deviation of the line from the origin further showed that intra-particle transport is not the only rate limiting step. Generally the research supported the manufacturer’s choice of particle size (as GAC and not PAC) for the chosen adsorbate.

A Robust Wi-Fi Fingerprinting Indoor Localization Coping with Access Point Movement

A Wi-Fi fingerprinting localization approach has attracted increasing attention in recent years due to the ubiquity of Access Point( AP). However,typical fingerprinting localization methods fail to resist accidental environmental changes,such as AP movement. In order to address this problem,a robust fingerprinting indoor localization method is initiated. In the offline phase,three attributes of received Signal Strength Indication( RSSI) —average,standard deviation and AP's response rate—are computed to prepare for the subsequent computation. In this way,the underlying location-relevant information can be captured comprehensively. Then in the online phase, a three-step voting scheme-based decision mechanism is demonstrated, detecting and eliminating the part of AP where the signals measured are severely distorted by AP 's movement. In the following localization step,in order to achieve accuracy and efficiency simultaneously,a novel fingerprinting localization algorithm is applied. Bhattacharyya distance is utilized to measure the RSSI distribution distance,thus realizing the optimization of MAximum Overlapping algorithm( MAO). Finally,experimental results are displayed,which demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed methods in eliminating outliers and attaining relatively higher localization accuracy.

Bridge Scour is one of the major causes of bridge failures all around the world and there have been significant efforts for its detection and measurement using different acoustic approaches. In this paper, we propose and investigate an effective method to utilize received Signal Strength (RSS) for measuring scour depth where acoustic sensors are deployed. We also extend a statistical testing to determine the difference in signal levels at the sensor nodes prior to and after scour formation and subsequently determine the actual depth of scour. Additionally, we make an attempt to evaluate underwater distance and depth using signal strength perceived at the receiver which makes it free from the requirement of accurate receiver-sender synchronization in contrast to Time of Flight (ToF) or Time of Arrival (ToA) techniques. The scour depths are eventually compared for the conditions when the bottom is composed of a single or multiple layers. The simulation results clearly show that different depths are calculated for the case of multilayered bottom (0.8 to 3.9 meters for instance) as compared to a constant depth of 2 meters for the case of a single layered bottom.

Efficient performance of the Lionet in Nsukka campus of the University of Nigeria may be hindered by the ornamental trees that characterises the physical features of the University environment. This work measured and analyzed the Lionet quality of service (QoS) in terms of received power level and path loss as functions of distance, under free space condition and in the presence of a tree. Introduction: Liraglutide and Exenatide are used in adults who are affected by type-2 diabetes to control their blood glucose level. They are administered by the patients by subcutaneous injection, Liraglutide once a day while Exenatide twice a day. The aim of this study was to evaluate medication adherence and persistence of treatment with Liraglutide and Exenatide with a new strategy of calculation also giving economic evaluations on therapy costs for received Daily Dose. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, we took into account 16 months from 1st September 2011 to 31st December 2012. Treatment adherence was quantified utilizing the ratio between RDD and Prescribed Daily Dose (PDD). Persistence is calculated into account the actual therapy days, comparing posology with supplied dose and the graph is drawn using Kaplan-Meir method. Results: The number of patients studied for Liraglutide was 114 and 220 and 58 and 60 for Exenatide respectively in 2011 and 2012. Adherence to therapy, calculated as the ratio between RDD and PDD, in 2011 was 0.93 for Exenatide and 0.87 for Liraglutide, while in 2012 it was 0.94 and 0.90 for Liraglutide and Exenatide, respectively. The cost per day of therapy (cost per RDD) for Liraglutide was €2.88 and €2.78 and for Exenatide was €2.37 and €2.48 in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Conclusion: The dosage regimen, therefore, plays an important role in improving the medication adherence.
