Balanced multiple description subband coding based on multifilter banks

Multiple description coding is one of the source coding techniques to alleviate the problems of packet loss in *** encoder generates several different descriptions of the source and the decoder can produce a useful reconstruction with any received subset of these *** of the earlier works concentrated on redundancy and the average distortion of the single-description reconstructions,which is insufficient to describe the *** this paper,a metric of the coding system,balance eccentric modulus,is defined to evaluate the difference in quality between the individual *** the discrete wavelet transform becomes trivial polyphase transform when setting the balance eccentric modulus at zero,we introduce a multiwavelet based scheme ***,a sufficient condition for balanced multiwavelet based multiple description coding is presented.

The partial side information problem with additional reconstructions

We consider a quadratic Gaussian distributed lossy source coding setup with an additional constraint of identical reconstructions between the encoder and the *** setup consists of two correlated Gaussian sources,wherein one of them has to be reconstructed to be within some distortion constraint and match with a corresponding reconstruction at the encoder,while the other source acts as coded side *** study the tradeoff between the rates of two encoders for a given distortion constraint on the *** explicit characterization of this trade-off is the main result of the *** also give close inner and outer bounds for the discrete memoryless version of the problem.

With the continuous development of lithium-ion batteries industry, more attention has been paid to the design of fast charging strategies that can balance the desire for shortening charging time and reducing battery degradation. Notably, the fast charging optimization problems are resource-and time-sensitive since it takes a long time to fully evaluate the battery life under a specific charging strategy. Existing methods to optimize charging strategies are model-based and data-driven ***, model-based optimization is limited by the accuracy of the model's description of degradation mechanisms, while traditional data-driven optimization like Bayesian optimization may result in significant consumption of time since it often aims to determine the optimal strategy and requires more evaluations to quantify the performance of a single strategy or the unexplored strategies. In this paper, we utilize the adaptive Blahut-Arimoto satisficing Thompson-sampling based Bayesian optimization(adaptive BLASTS-BO) approach, an application of BLASTS for BO, for the fast charging optimization. As with the BLASTS algorithm, we modify our target to the satisficing strategy, and introduce the rate-distortion theory to balance between the amount of required information and the regret compared to the optimal strategy. The Blahut-Arimoto algorithm is adopted to calculate the target satisficing strategy. We also utilize the adaptive technique of BLASTS for updating the parameter that represents the perference between exploration and exploitation to avoid inappropriate hyper-parameter settings. We conduct a simulation experiment to evaluate the performance of our approach, and the experimental results demonstrate the superiority of the adaptive BLASTS-BO approach.
