Effects of Zaizhang-I (ZZ-I)on the recovery of hemopoietic systems from radiation injury were investigated. Mice,irradiated with 6.0 Gy -rays,were injected i. p. once daily for 7 consecutive days with either ZZ-I or saline(0.01 ml/g body wt.). The experiments showed that ZZ-I significantly promoted the recovery of not only peripheral WBC, BMC, CFU-S and CFU-GM but also the abnormal femur micro-vessel system such as blood vessels and sinus ectasia, hyperemia and hemorrhage *** results suggest that ZZ-I could accelerate hemopoietic recovery from radiation injury in mice by stimulating hemopoietic stem cells and improving hemopoietic inductive microenvironment (HIM).

Background:Few studies on anastomotic condition after rectal-cancer resection and its effect on anastomotic leakage(AL)are available up to *** study aimed to investigate potential radiation-induced injury left on surgical margins of anterior resection after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(nCRT)and its association with ***:We retrospectively identified 161 consecutive patients who underwent anterior resection with nCRT,neoadjuvant chemotherapy without radiation(nCT)or no neoadjuvant therapy between 2014 and *** samples of resection margins were assessed using a specific histopathological score and microvessel density in *** score matching was used to balance the baseline *** between AL and histopathological features was ***:AL occurred in 13 of 54 patients undergoing nCRT,5 of 48 patients undergoing nCT and 7 of 59 patients without neoadjuvant *** after matching showed median(range)histopathological scores as follows:3(0–8)vs 0(0–3)vs 0(0–2)for the proximal margin(Pradiation-induced injury after *** is associated with aggravated radiation damage on the proximal margin.

Seven hundred and forty-six mice,weighing 30-35g,were randomlydivided into 4 *** animals of the first three groups were inflicted withradiation injury(12 Gy total body irradiation from a 60Co source),burn injury（15% TBSA third degree burns）,and combined injury of the 2 agents ,mentionedabove *** 4th group served as normal *** mortality and the dynamic changes of the intestinal epithelium of theexperimental animals were *** was found that the clinical course of thecombined injury group was quite different from that of the other *** of the combined injury group was higher and the damage on theintestinal epithelium more severe than those of the radiation injury group in thefirst 48 h after *** the second 48 h,the mortality of the combined injurygroup became lower and recovery of the injured intestinal epithelium faster.

Objective radiation-induced lung injury （RILl） is the most common, dose-limiting complication in thoracic malignancy radiotherapy. Considering its negative impact on patients and restrictions to efficacy, the mechanism of RILl was studied. Methods Wistar rats were locally irradiated with a single dose of 0, 16, and 20 Gy to the right half of the lung to establish a lung injury model. Two and six months after irradiation, the right half of the rat lung tissue was removed, and the concentrations of TGF-[31, angiotensin II, and aldosterone were determined via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results Statistical differences were observed in the expression levels of angiotensin II and aldosterone between the non-irradiation and irradiation groups. Moreover, the expression level of the angiotensin II-aldosterone system increased with increasing doses, and the difference was still observed as time progressed. Conclusions Angiotensin II-aldosterone system has an important pathophysiological function in the progression of RILI.

Objective:To investigate the protective effect of the Compound Sarcandra Glabra on radiation injury of parotid glands in patients with nasopharyngeal ***:Sixty patients with primary nasopharyngeal carcinoma in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from June 2018 to January 2019 were collected,which were divided into treatment group and control group using a random number *** patients were treated by a combination of 9-field intense-modulated radiotherapy and *** treatment group was given the Compound Sarcandra Glabra orally every day from 3 days before radiotherapy to the *** degree of xerostomia(dry mouth)of patients was compared between the two groups at the end of radiotherapy and 3 months after radiotherapy by the chi-square *** maximal adsorption and secretion rates of the parotid glands were compared between groups before radiotherapy,at the end of radiotherapy and 3 months after radiotherapy by the independent sample ***:The symptoms of dry mouth were alleviated in the treatment group,and the degree of dry mouth significantly differed between groups at the end of radiotherapy and 3 months after radiotherapy(χ2=6.696 and 10.977,P0.05);however,both variables were significantly higher in the treatment group at the end of radiotherapy and 3 months after radiotherapy(t=2.920 and 5.037;t=2.820 and 2.213,Pinjury after ***:Oral administration of the Compound Sarcandra Glabra can effectively prevent radiation injury of the parotid glands in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma,thereby alleviating the degree of dry mouth after radiotherapy.

After a radiological or nuclear event, acute radiation syndrome(ARS) will present complex medical challenges that could involve the treatment of hundreds to thousands of patients. Current medical doctrine is based on limited clinical data and remains inadequate. Efforts to develop medical innovations that address ARS complications are unlikely to be generated by the industry because of market uncertainties specific to this type of injury. A prospective strategy could be the integration of cellular therapy to meet the medical demands of ARS. The most clinically advanced cellular therapy to date is the administration of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs). Results of currently published investigations describing MSC safety and efficacy in a variety of injury and disease models demonstrate the unique qualities of this reparative cell population in adapting to the specific requirements of the damaged tissue in which the cells integrate. This report puts forward a rationale for the further evaluation of MSC therapy to address the current unmet medical needs of ARS. We propose that the exploration of this novel therapy for the treatment of the multivariate complications of ARS could be of invaluable benefit to military medicine.
