This study investigates the nonlinear relationship between r&d expenditures,innovation,productivity,high-tech export *** empirical research used linear standard structures to deal with these kinds of specifications,and it has shown that the linearity is frequently conditioned by other macroeconomic factors such as the level of development and the financial *** on these arguments,our study investigates this question in econometric specification using panel smooth threshold regression methodology proposed by Gonzalez et *** *** findings suggest that there is a threshold effect within the links between r&d expenditures,innovation,and *** effect of r&d expenditures,innovation,productivity,and medium and high technology product exports is ***,both positive and negative effects are found,depending on which innovation indicators are used or on which level of threshold variable is the most *** results advocate that the level of economic development can be considered as target indicators to conduct an innovation policy.

The value-relevance of R&D reporting: evidence from China

This paper investigates the value relevance of r&d reporting using a sample of 508 observations from Chinese listed companies over 2007-2009. In the paper, we associate stock prices with financial data and then we relate stock returns to changes in financial data. Unlike previous studies, we find that capitalized r&d is negatively associated with stock prices and is positively associated with stock returns. This result indicates that capitalized r&d has an incremental explanatory power. We also find a negative association between expensed r&d expenditures and stock market values (stock prices and returns), which implies that expensing signals negative information to market participants.
