The unconformity and diastems in the postglacial sequence in the Changjiang Delta and qiantangjiang estuary

The sedimentary breaks of different time-space scales, such as unconformity, stratigraphic surfaces and diastems in the postglacial sequence, are studied The unconformity can be recognized by abrupt change in lithology, physical and engineering properties of sediments, paleosol, breaks in microfossil records and mutation in magnetic fabric parameter curves. The unconformity diachronism in the directions parallel and perpendicular to the present coastline is discussed. Furthermore, the positions of transgressive surface (TS) and maximum flooding surface (MFS) in the postglacial sequence are analysed. The diastems can be attributed to fluvial, wave and tidal-fluvial, and can be classified into three grades according to their time-space scales.
