Carbohydrates, with broad-spectrum structures and biological functions, are key organic compounds in nature, along with nucleic acids and proteins. As part of our ongoing efforts to develop a new class of pesticides with novel mechanism of action, a series of novel N-glycosyl-l-pyridyl-lH-pyrazole-5-carboxamide was designed and synthesized via the reactions of glycosyl methanamides and pyridyl-pyrazole acid. The compounds were characte- rized by IH NMR and 13C NMR. The bioassay results indicate that some of these compounds exhibit moderate insec- ticidal activities and assessed as potential inhibitors of calcium channels. The modulation of voltage-gated calcium channels by compounds 4a and 5a in the central neurons isolated from the third instar larvae of Spodoptera exigua was studied by whole-cell patch-clamp technique. In addition, compound 5a inhibits the recorded calcium currents reversible on washout. Experimental results also indicate that compound 5a did not release stored calcium from the Endoplasmic Reticulum. The present work demonstrates that N-glycosyl-l-pyridyl-lH-pyrazole-5-carboxamides cannot be used as possible inhibitors of calcium channels for developing novel pesticides.

To explore the spectroscopic properties of pyridyl triazole Os(Ⅱ) complexes and how the substituent effects affect the spectroscopic properties of [Os(ptz)2L2] (L=PH3; ptzH=(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole) (1), [Os(bptz)2L2] (bptzH=3-tert-butyl-5-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole) (2), [Os(fptz)2L2] (fptzH=3- (trifluoreomethyl)- 5-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazole) (3), and [Os(fbtz)2L2] (fbtzH=3-(trifluoreomethyl)-5-(4-tert-butyl- 2-pyridyl)-1,2, 4-triazole) (4), the density functional theory (DFT) method at the B3LYP level was used to optimize the geometrical structures in the ground and excited state. The absorption and emission properties of the dichloromethane solution were predicted at the time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT, B3LYP) level associated with the PCM solvent effect model, the transitions characters of them were assigned. Important correlations between substituent effects and emission spectra and the quantum yield have been obtained by comparing and analyzing the calculated results.

3-(4′-pyridyl)-4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole(1)reacted with aroyl isothiocyanates 2a-1 to yield twelve novel 3-(4′-pyridyl)-6-aroylamino-S-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazoles,4a-1. Triethylamine was necessary for the condensation of 1 with phenyl isothiocyanate(3)to give 3-(4′- pyridyl)-6-phenylamino-S-triazolo[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadiazole(6).The structures were confirmed by the elemental and spectral *** antibacterial activity against ***,***,E. aerogenes and *** was observed preliminary.

The H atom production channels in the ultraviolet （UV） photochemistry of m-pyridyl radical （m-C5H4N） were investigated at excitation wavelengths from 224 nm to 248 nm by high-n Rydberg atom time-of-flight （HRTOF） technique. The photofragment yield （PFY） spectrum of the H atoms indicates a broad UV absorption feature near 234 nm. The product kinetic energy release is small; the average product kinetic energy at the wavelengths from 224 nm to 248 nm is 0.12 to 0.19 of the maximum excess energy （assuming the lowest energy product channel, H＋cyanovinylacetylene）. The product kinetic energy distributions are consistent with the H cyanovinylacetylene, H 3,4-pyridyne, and H 2,3-pyridyne product channels, with H cyanovinylacetylene as the main H-loss channel. The angular distributions of the H-atom products are isotropic. After the UV electronic excitation, the m-pyridyl radical undergoes internal conversion to the ground electronic state and then unimolecular dissoci-ation to the H cyanovinylacetylene, H 3,4-pyridyne, and H 2,3-pyridyne products. The dissociation mechanism of the m-pyridyl radical is similar to that of the o-pyridyl radical reported in the early study.

A non-liquid crystal compound （4-POXD-6） containing the 1,3,4-oxadiazole group and pyridyl （py） group was synthesized. And a series of supramolecular mesogenic complexes were obtained by mixing 4-POXD-6 and 4-alkoxybenzoic acids （Cn, n=6, 8, 12）. The liquid crystalline properties of4-POXD-6/Cn （n=6, 8, 12） were in- vestigated by means of differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy, and wide-angle X-ray dif- fraction. It was found that 4-POXD-6/Cn （6, 8） display monotropic nematic and smectic A phases, while 4-POXD-6/C12 exhibits a SmX phase in the heating process and a SmA phase in the cooling run. Vari- able-temperature FTIR spectroscopic studies revealed hydrogen bonds existed in both crystalline and liquid crystal- line phases.

Six novel Schiff bases have been synthesized by the condensation reaction of 4-amino-5-（4-pyridyl）-2,4-dihydro-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione with various benzaldehydes. The sfructures of the compounds have been confirmed by ^1H NMR, IR and elemental analysis. The preliminary bioassay indicated that the title compounds possessed good fungicidal activities to several vegetable pathogens.
