The standardization of terms and definitions is fundamental to all activities in the domain of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).For decades,definitions of TCM terminology relied on conventional verbal representations to differentiate between related ***,the ancient Chinese is obscure and comprises a massive volume of information,making it difficult to convey the definition accurately in other *** article proposes a potential solution that the definition for pulse terminology can be supplemented by modern means of non-verbal representation,i.e.,using pulse waveform graphs and parameters to complete the definition of each pulse.A discussion of the challenges of obtaining reliable data is also included.

Acoustic Detection and Cepstral Analysis of Human pulse conditions

From the view of vibration and acoustics, an acoustic transmission model for pulse-generating mechanism is advanced. By adopting a kind of high-functional detecting system and cepstrum and liftering techniques, pulses taken from 134 subjects have been detected and processed, and thus the cepstral characteristic values of pulse conditions, transmission functions, formant frequencies, etc. have been obtained. It is found that there are obvious differences among the three kinds of pulse conditions in the cepstrum and transmission function. In the end, the characteristic fuzzy sets A, B and C of the three kinds of pulse conditions have been simulated and obtained using the method of fuzzy pattern recognition. It is proved that the pulse-condition recognition is satisfactory through 74 pulse-conditions’ clinical examinations. The method described in this paper may provide important basis for recognizing human pulse conditions and diagnosing disease automatically by a computer.
