In order to excavate the useful information about X-ray pulsar orbital spacecraft navigation application as well as improve the orbit determination precision, augmentation based on X-ray pulsar orbital spacecraft navigation using vector observation is presented. X-ray pulsar detectors can measure X-ray TOA and radiation vector pointing, and the iterative orbit determination can be achieved by using the UKF mixed with timing observation data and radiation direction vector observation data. This method can realize the single pulsar iterative orbit determination and enhance the performance of multi-pulsar observation, which is the effective supplement and augmentation of X-ray pulsar timing observation navigation.

pulsar navigation technology is an important technology in the construction of national integrated positioning and navigation timing（PNT）system. It can provide high-precision autonomous navigation service and high stable time-frequency reference. High precision pulsar signal propagation model is the prerequisite for realizing high-precision navigation and high stability pulsar time. In view of the inconsistency of existing pulsar observation models and the need to expand the application scope of pulsar navigation and time service to deep space, under the framework of general relativity, through the geometric The gravitational delay formula of pulsar signal under the second-order post Newton effect in the solar system is analyzed and deduced,and a universal pulsar observation model in the solar system is *** to the influence magnitude of various time delays, a simplified observation model in near earth space with accuracy better than 1 ns is obtained..

Due to the huge costs, space flight experiment cannot be realized in the preliminary step of X-ray pulsar based navigation （XPNAV） research. So, a kind of XPNAV experiment and 1 validation system is designed in this paper. This system is composed of two parts: the simulation of the pulsar signals and the calculation of navigation parameters. In the first part, the time at which X-ray photon arrive the solar system barycentre is modelled by non-homogeneous Poisson process, then the output pulse of X-ray detector while the observation of pulsars can be simulated by time transformation. In the second part, navigation information included in the pulsar signals which are simulated in the first part can be reached using the Delta-Correction method. This system can simulate four pulsar signals and the process of XPNAV at photo level. This system has the advantage of low costs and high simulation accuracy, and provides a reference for the design of prototype for space flight experiments.

A novel period estimation method for X-ray pulsars based on frequency subdivision

Period estimation of X-ray pulsars plays an important role in X-ray pulsar based navigation （XPNAV）. The fast Lomb periodogram is suitable for period estimation of X-ray pulsars, but its performance in terms of frequency resolution is limited by data length and observation time. Longer observation time or oversampling can be employed to improve frequency analysis results, but with greatly increased computational complexity and large amounts of sampling data. This greatly restricts real-time autonomous navigation based on X-ray pulsars. To resolve this issue, a new method based on frequency subdivision and the continuous Lomb periodogram （CLP） is proposed to improve precision of period estimation using short-time observation data. In the proposed method, an initial frequency is first calculated using fast Lomb periodogram. Then frequency subdivision is per- formed near the initial frequency to obtain frequencies with higher precision. Finally, a refined period is achieved by calculating the CLP in the obtained frequencies. Real data experiments show that when observation time is shorter than 135 s, the proposed method improves period estimation precision by 1-3 orders of magnitude compared with the fast Lomb periodogram and fast Fourier transform （FFT） methods, with only a slight increase in computational complexity. Furthermore, the proposed method performs better than efsearch （a period estimation method of HEAsoft） with lower computational complexity. The proposed method is suitable for estimating periods of X-ray pulsars and obtaining the rotation period of variable stars and other celestial bodies.

X-ray pulsar navigation has attracted extensive attentions from academy and engineering domains. The navigation accuracy is can be enhanced through design of X-ray mirrors to focus X-rays to a small detector. The Wolter-I optics, originally proposed based on a paraboloid mirror and a hyperboloid mirror for X-ray imaging, has long been widely developed and employed in X-ray observatory. Some differences, however, remain in the requirements on optics between astronomical X-ray observation and pulsar navigation. The simplified Wolter-I optics, providing single reflection by a paraboloid mirror, is more suitable for pulsar navigation. In this paper, therefore, the grazing incidence X-ray mirror was designed further based on our previous work, with focus on the reflectivity, effective area, angular resolution and baffles. To evaluate the performance of the manufactured mirror, the surface roughness and reflectivity were tested. The test results show that the grazing incidence mirror meets the design specifications. On the basis of this, the reflectivity of the mirror in the working bandwidth was extrapolated to evaluate the focusing ability of the mirror when it works together with the detector. The purpose of our current work to design and develop a prototype mirror was realized. It can lay a foundation and provide guidance for the development of multilayer nested X-ray mirror with larger effective area.

Using the timing information of pulsar signal for autonomous navigation of spacecraft in deep space has the vital significance, the accurate timing model（period and period derivation） is the foundation of accepting high precision auto-navigation. Both χ2 evaluation method and Lomb algorithm are analyzed, the idea is brought forward that the initial value of pulsar period is gained using the evaluation method, then the result of period is refined by Lomb algorithm. Meanwhile, the Lomb algorithm is ameliorated using by the idea of FFT algorithm, the efficiency of operation is advanced highly. Finally the exact pulsar period is estimated and correct pulse profile is replicated using the measured timing data from the X-ray source simulated system to test the algorithm.
