With the development of cities,China has entered an era of stock *** functions of old residential areas in urban development can no longer meet the needs of residents in the new era for a better life,and new standards have been put forward for the quality of public spaces for *** paper analyzes and sorts out the characteristics and problems of the public space in the old residential areas of Baihuazhou *** superposition and intervention techniques,the spatial,historical,cultural and other characteristic elements of the residential areas are preserved to the greatest *** public space in the old residential areas of Baihuazhou District is updated and reconstructed in order to achieve the goal of improving the quality of its public space.

The experience,perception,awareness,and appreciation of the environment created by public spaces are important elements of urban *** this context,a strong link exists between perception,public spaces,and historical *** is one of the multilayered historical cities in ***’s holistic urban texture,close relationship with the river,and public spaces are associated with both the Iris River and the historical *** pilot study examines the Yalıboyu Promenade,a contemporary open public space designed along the river and across the historical texture in Amasya in Turkey to reveal how it affects people’s perception of the historical *** study uses the mixed method approach,which includes qualitative and quantitative *** the theoretical discussion,the study investigates the context of the *** survey results revealed how the firsttime visitors had perceived the historical texture of the promenade based on Rapoport’s method of using environmental *** results were interpreted by jointly evaluating qualitative and survey ***,although some aspects need improvement,the promenade solidifies the perception of the historical ***,when the public space is integrated with the historical environment and public life,it offers multidimensional contributions that cannot be ***,examining the promenade from perceptual aspects and offering a design approach to promote integration with the historical environment may help to establish a precedent case for future initiatives.

In the context of ongoing densification of cities and aging urban populations,public spaces are a crucial infrastructure to support the physical and mental wellbeing of urban *** design of public space furniture elements is often standardised,and not considered in relation to environmental conditions and mechanisms of social *** article presents a digital workflow to generate site-specific designs for shaded public seating,considering the relationships of local public places to their surroundings.A strategy for customised and site-specific design is developed through the use of multiple software tools,employing evolutionary algorithms and multi-objective *** method is applied to a small public space canopy prototype installed within a public housing estate in Hong Kong,incorporating additional criteria to achieve a low-cost and light-weight *** multiple stages of refinement and optimisation,a material,structural and social performance-driven outcome was achieved that creates a shaded space for public seating,people watching and social *** part of a larger research agenda exploring architectural form-finding and environmental psychology,the project represents potential new applications in the emerging field of socially driven computational design.

Purpose:During the past decades,China has seen a rapid urbanization that has(re)shaped not only its city landscape but also(re)created public space where children live,play,and ***,litle research has focused on how urban public space influences young children's learning and development and how parents navigate children's development in the public ***,this research aims to study how public space influences parents'engagement with their young ***/Approach/Methods:This study is informed of Bronfenbrenner's Processes,Person,Context,and Time(PPCT)model that sees children's learning as complex and multilateral interactions among various stakeholders including schools,families,and *** employed ethnographic approach to study the interactions between children and their parents in a public playground in a Western Chinese ***:It found that parents realized public space had been reshaped by *** they accompanied their children to play,they actively monitored children's safety and cultivated children's physical and social *** this process,male parents tended to contribute more than they would do in other ***/Value:This study fills the gap by providing a nuanced study exploring how parents fulfill their responsibilities in an integral space of children's development,which has rarely been explored.

The paper reviews the evolution of western urban space,and outlines the transition of western cities from production bases to consumption *** then addresses the debate as to whether public space has been alostw under the strong influence of contemporary consumerist *** paper observes that public space is likely to have exercised a high extent of privatisation,commodification,and symbolic manipulation to create exclusive and homogenised ***,it also finds out that the critique of loss potentially devalues the positive effects of consumerist culture and neglects the experiences of *** paper draws conclusions that public space should be only understood in relation to concrete social and physical contexts,and that consumption is both enabling and *** conclusions can hopefully illuminate urban designers and researchers who are being engaged with urban public spaces.

Based on related theories on the evaluation of city plan implementation and the empirical study on Caoyang-Xincun, a residential quarter in Shanghai, the paper explores the community plan implementation from the perspective of public space. And with the differences and conformities between the plan's blueprint and the reality as the breakthrough point, the paper points out that in terms of differences, the implementation of the Caoyang-Xincun plan has neglected the construction of public space, which influenced the general quality of public life of the residents, while in terms of conformities, the implementation of the plan has produced a positive impact on current public life in the community.

In 1980, Giancarlo de Carlo wrote in the Perspecta： Yale Journal, ＂An Architecture of the Participation＂. Carlo, proposed a sequence of procedures： the problem definition, the solution and the results evaluation, in all the three steps, the social communities should be integrated in as part of a share and dynamic process. This text corresponds to a new way of understanding the importance of the social communities in the architecture definition. From de Carlo＇s text, the main goal of this paper is to present the results of an intervention in public space renewal of the Lagarteiro neighborhood （in Oporto city） and the relation of this process with the participation of the resident population. The urban context of Lagarteiro＇s neighborhood presented before the intervention the typical and classic signs of disqualification of environmental and urban peripheral areas of resettlement. The term ＂disadvantaged areas＂ is associated with these areas in urban or peri-urban case, was framed in a specific Portuguese policy, called Initiative Critical Neighborhoods. Being a recent intervention, the renewal of the public space in Lagarteiro is a complete case study that allows comprehending the participation phenomenon in nowadays, at the same time that seduces a reflexion about technical and architectural solutions for ＂critical＂ neighborhood.
