This paper proposes a method to design multichannel cosine modulated filter bank for image compression using multiobjective optimization technique. The design problem is a combination of stopband residual energy, least square error of the overall transfer function of the filter bank, coding gain with dc leakage free condition as constraint. The proposed algorithm uses Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA) to minimize the mutually contradictory objective function by minimizing filter tap weights of prototype filter. The algorithm solves this problem by searching solutions that achieve the best compromise between the different objectives criteria. The performance of this algorithm is evaluated in terms of coding gain and peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR). Simulation results on different images are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for image compression application.

This paper presents a study on digitization of Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis. The research consists of two aspects: a) algorithms for blood vessels extraction in sclera-conjunctiva images, which can be applied in syndrome differentiation by observing human eyes (named Ocular Diagnostic in Traditional Chinese Medicine);b) digitization of extracted vessels. First, sclera-conjunctiva region is isolated by optimal threshold segmentation and mathematical operation;Scanning and edge detection methods are used to gain the edge of the blood vessels. Moreover, the edge feature parameters are gained, which can be used to reconstruct the blood vessels. Experimental results show that blood vessels information can be obtained fast and accurately for the further TCM diagnosis by artificial system.

The theme of this study is eating and drinking patterns for products of which the health authorities want the Norwegian people to reduce their consumption. Although consumption development has shown positive trends over the past few years, Norwegians still have a much higher intake of such products than what is advisable. The study showed that only a small proportion had not eaten chocolate, sweets, sweet pastries, salty snacks etc. in the last seven days. Young people, men, people with low education and people living in households with children had the highest eating and drinking frequency of these kinds of products. Gender and age had the strongest impact on eating and drinking frequency. However, women had a higher eating rate of chocolate and sweets, and men had a higher eating and drinking frequency of salty snacks and sugary soda. People with low education had a considerably higher frequency of drinking sugary soda than people with high education. Among those who ate these products weekly, there were many who expressed that they would prefer to avoid such products, but that they were often tempted. Among those who ate these products a few times a month or less, few said that they did not like chocolate, sweets, etc. The main reason for having a relatively low eating and drinking frequency was that they perceived such products as unhealthy and fattening. Although there were only a few in the group of respondents who were concerned with healthy eating that had not eaten any of the listed products in the past seven days, this group had a significantly lower frequency of eating chocolate, sweets, etc. than the group that was not concerned with this. It was also clear that people who were health conscious to a greater extent limited eating of such products to the weekends and special occasions than those who were not. Stream cipher, DNA cryptography and DNA analysis are the most important R&D fields in both Cryptography and Bioinformatics. HC-256 is an emerged scheme as the new generation of stream ciphers for advanced network security. From a random sequencing viewpoint, both sequences of HC-256 and real DNA data may have intrinsic pseudo-random properties respectively. In a recent decade, many DNA sequencing projects are developed on cells, plants and animals over the world into huge DNA databases. Researchers notice that mammalian genomes encode thousands of large noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs), interact with chromatin regulatory complexes, and are thought to play a role in localizing these complexes to target loci across the genome. It is a challenge target using higher dimensional visualization tools to organize various complex interactive properties as visual maps. The Variant Map System (VMS) as an emerging scheme is systematically proposed in this paper to apply multiple maps that used four Meta symbols as same as DNA or RNA representations. System architecture of key components and core mechanism on the VMS are described. Key modules, equations and their I/O parameters are discussed. Applying the VM System, two sets of real DNA sequences from both sample human (noncoding DNA) and corn (coding DNA) genomes are collected in comparison with pseudo DNA sequences generated by HC-256 to show their intrinsic properties in higher levels of similar relationships among relevant DNA sequences on 2D maps. Sample 2D maps are listed and their characteristics are illustrated under controllable environment. Visual results are briefly analyzed to explore their intrinsic properties on selected genome sequences.

In patients with high grade gliomas (HGGs), progression after treatment can be difficult to diagnose due to treatment-related effects, which overlap in appearance with tumour progression on conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences. Specialised imaging methods have been studied for this purpose, though most institutions currently use histopathology or clinicoradiological follow-up for diagnosis. This publication aims to review the evidence for perfusion MRI techniques. The databases of Pubmed, MEDLINE, EMBASE and Scopus were searched using combinations of the subject headings high grade glioma and MRI perfusion. 41 articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Dynamic Susceptibility Contrast (DSC) MRI was the most extensively studied, with several studies achieving high sensitivities and specificities. Other techniques exhibiting potential include Dynamic Contrast Enhanced (DCE) MRI, Arterial Spin Labelling (ASL). However, these techniques are not widely used or available for clinical practice. Composite measures combining results from multiple techniques tended to achieve higher accuracies. Some publications compared processing software used or looked at machine learning with relative success. An issue common to the literature is the lack of standardisation in the reference standard and acquisition/processing methods. Furthermore, many had small sample sizes, and further consideration needs to be given with regards to timing of imaging, and treatment regimens received in such studies.

Introduction: Organ phosphorus (OP) toxicity has been studied extensively because of its world wide use. Toxicity of organophosphates is the result of inhibition of acetyl cholinesterase resulting in cholinergic signs. Aim of the Work: To evaluate initial indicators that can indicate prognosis of patients in OP poisoning. Materials and Methods: A retrospective study conducted in Zagazig university hospital over a year. OP poisoning was clinically diagnosed with history of OP compound exposure and confirmed by low pseudo cholinesterase levels. Results: In the present study, 76 patients were enrolled. Major cases were male. High mortality rates were in the youth and in prolonged ventilated patients. The mortality rate was proportionally related to lag time after exposure and plasma pseudo cholinesterase levels. Electrolyte disturbance did not affect clinical outcome. Conclusion: From this study, it could be concluded that mortality is directly proportionate to the lag time, amount of OP consumed, clinical severity, pseudo cholinesterase levels and duration of ventilator support. This study helps in rapid diagnosis, and rapid early and effective treatment, which may result in decreasing the morbidity and mortality rates. Recommendation: It is recommended to increase awareness regarding the rapid diagnosis, and rapid effective treatment of organ phosphorous.

This document reviews the Landau-Liftshifts reformulation of General relativity with a representation of the available mass of a graviton. From looking at a conservation law, using the Landau-Liftshifs formulation, we obtain conditions for initial mass, in the Pre-Planckian regime of space-time. In doing so, we also indicate a metric tensor and metric pseudo tensor delineation of causal discontinuity.

A new time-frequency representation called Dopplerlet transform, which uses the dilated, translated and modulated windowed Doppler signals as its basis functions, is proposed, and the Fourier transform, short-time Fourier transform (including Gabor transform), wavelet transform, and chirplet transform are formulated in one framework of Dopplerlet transform *** is proved that the matching pursuits based on Dopplerlet basis functions are convergent, and that the energy of residual signals yielded in the decomposition process decays exponentially. Simulation results show that the matching pursuits with Dopplerlet basis functions can characterize compactly a nonstationary signal.
