The human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccine is the first vaccine developed specifically targeting the prevention of cervical cancer.For more than 15 years,China has expedited a series of efforts on research and development of the domestically manufactured HPV vaccines,producing local population-based evidence,promoting free HPV vaccination from pilots,and launching action plans to tackle barriers in the scale-up of HPV vaccination.To further roll out the HPV vaccination program in China,several challenges should be addressed to support the steps forward.The availability of more locally manufactured HPV vaccines,pricing negotiation and local evidence supporting the efficacy of one-dose schedule would greatly alleviate the continued supply and financial constraints in China.Meanwhile,more attention should be paid to girls living in low-resource areas and males to ensure equal access to the HPV vaccination.Furthermore,linkage to secondary prevention and further real-world monitoring and evaluation are warranted to inform effective cervical cancer prevention strategies in the post-vaccine era.

The national and international Progress in deep space exploration has greatly promoted the development of planetary science in China.Substantial Progress in different areas of planetary science has been achieved in 2020-2022.In this report,we summarize the research achievements obtained in China in the last three years.The achievements include the research on geology,geochemistry,and space physics of the Moon,Mars,Mercury,Venus,giant planets,asteroids,and comets.The recent work on science objectives,mission payloads,and analytical capabilities that supports the lunar and deep space exploration program of China has also been introduced in this report.Finally,we report the Progress on developments of discipline and research team of planetary science in China.

China has the world’s largest burden of hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection,but the country has made considerable Progress in preventing its mother-to-child transmission(MTCT)in the past three decades.This feat is made possible due to the high coverage of birth-dose hepatitis B vaccine(HepB,>95%),hepatitis B surface antigen(HBsAg)screening for pregnant women(>99%),and hepatitis B immunoglobulin plus HepB for newborns whose mothers are HBsAg positive(>99%).Studies on the optimal antiviral treatment regimen for pregnant women with high HBV-DNA load have also been conducted.However,China still faces challenges in eliminating MTCTof HBV.The overall HBsAg prevalence among pregnant women is considered an intermediate endemic.The prevalence of HBsAg among pregnant women from remote,rural,or ethnic minority areas is higher than that of the national level because of limited health resources and public health education for HBV.The coverage for maternal and child healthcare and immunization services should be improved,especially in western regions.Integration of current services to prevent MTCTof HBV with other relevant health services can increase the acceptability,efficiency,and coverage of these services,particularly in remote areas and ethnic minority areas.By doing so,Progress toward key milestones and targets to eliminate hepatitis B as the main public health threat by 2030 can be achieved.

Cephalosporins play an indispensable role against bacterial infections.Deacetyloxycephalosporin C synthase(DAOCS),also called expandase,is a key enzyme in cephalosporin biosynthesis that epoxides penicillin to form the hexavalent thiazide ring of cephalosporin.DAOCS in fungus Acremonium chrysogenum was identified as a bifunctional enzyme with both ring expansion and hydroxylation,whereas two separate enzymes in bacteria catalyze these two reactions.In this review,we briefly summarize its source and function,improvement of the conversion rate of penicillin to deacetyloxycephalosporin C through enzyme modification,crystallography features,the prediction of the active site,and application perspective.

Understanding the development,regeneration,and disorders of the liver is the major goal in liver biology.Current mechanistic knowledge of human livers has been largely derived from mouse models and cell lines,which fall short in recapitulating the features of human liver cells or the structures and functions of human livers.Organoids as an in vitro system hold the promise to generate organ-like tissues in a dish.Recent advances in human liver organoids also facilitate the understanding of the biology and diseases in this complex organ.Here we review the Progress in human liver organoids,mainly focusing on the methods to generate liver organoids,their applications,and possible future directions.

Major Progress in the natural gas exploration and development in the past seven decades in China

China has made significant Progress in the exploration and development of natural gas in the past 70 years,from the gas-poor country to the world’s sixth largest gas production country.In 1949,the annual gas output in China was 1117×104 m3,the proved gas reserves were 3.85×108 m3,and the average annual gas consumption and available reserves of per person were 0.0206 m3 and 0.7107 m3,respectively.By 2018,the average domestic annual gas production per person was 114.8576 m3 and the reserves were 12011.08 m3,and the average domestic annual gas production and reserves per person in the past 70 years increased by 5575 times and 16900 times,respectively.The exploration and development of large gas fields is the main way to rapidly develop the natural gas industry.72 large gas fields have been discovered in China so far,mainly distributed in three basins,Sichuan(25),Ordos(13)and Tarim(10).In 2018,the total gas production of the large gas fields in these three basins was 1039.26×108 m3,accounting for 65%of the total gas production in China.By the end of 2018,the cumulative proved gas reserves of the 72 large gas fields had amounted to 124504×108 m3,accounting for 75%of the total national gas reserves(16.7×1012 m3).New theories of natural gas have promoted the development of China’s natural gas industry faster.Since 1979,the new theory of coal-derived gas has boosted the discovery of gas fields mainly from coal-measure source rocks in China.In 2018,the gas production of large coal-derived gas fields in China accounted for 50.93%and 75.47%of the total national gas production and total gas production of large gas fields,respectively.Guided by shale gas theories,shale gas fields such as Fuling,Changning,Weiyuan and Weirong have been discovered.In 2018,the total proved geological reserves of shale gas were 10455.67×108 m3,and the annual gas production was 108.8×108 m3,demonstrating a good prospect of shale gas in China.

With the emergence of new applications and the increasing cost of new semiconductor manufacturing technology, high energy-efficiency and flexibility are both critical for processors.Dynamically reconfigurable computing architecture, which has the both characteristics, is one of the most promising architectures for future processors.It has shown notable advantages in many important application fields, compared to conventional architectures.However, the fundamental reasons for the characteristics have never been deeply discussed in previous papers.This paper analyzes the reasons from the perspective of design methodology.The technologies of dynamically reconfigurable computing are continually evolving, and some cheering results of application have been achieved.This paper summarizes the latest Progress in key technologies and provides an introduction of the application achievements.

The autonomic nervous system(ANS)includes the sympathetic,parasympathetic,and enteric nervous systems,and its senior regulatory center includes the brainstem,cingulate gyrus,and hypothalamus.Acupuncture can affect visceral,vascular,and glandular functions via the autonomic nervous regulatory pathway.In this paper,the relationship between pain and autonomic nervous function,the application of acupuncture guided by the autonomic nervous system,and the basis and clinical research on acupuncture analgesia are reviewed.

Background In 2009,China launched ambitious healthcare reform plans to provide affordable and equitable basic healthcare for all patients,including the substantial number of patients who had a stroke.However,little is known about the pattern of evidence-based stroke care and outcomes across hospitals,regions and time during the last decade.Aims The Patient-centered Retrospective Observation of Guideline-Recommended Execution for Stroke Sufferers in China(China Progress)Study aims to use findings from a representative sample of Chinese hospitals over the last decade to improve future stroke care for patients hospitalised with ischaemic stroke(IS)or transient ischaemic attack(TIA).Design The China Progress Study will use a two-stage cluster sampling method to identify over 32000 patient records from 208 hospitals across the Eastern,Central and Western geographical regions in China.To assess the temporal trends in patient characteristics,treatment and outcomes,study investigators will select records from 2005,2010 and 2015.A double data reading/entry system will be developed to conduct this assessment.A central coordinating centre will monitor case ascertainment,data abstraction and data management.Analyses will examine patient characteristics,testing patterns,in-hospital treatment and outcomes,and variations across regions and across time.Conclusions The China Progress Study is the first nationally representative study that aims to better understand care quality and outcomes for patients with IS or TIA before and after the national healthcare reform in China.This initiative will translate findings into clinical practices that improve care quality for patients who had a stroke and policy recommendations that allow these changes to be implemented widely.Ethics approval This study has also been approved by the central institutional review board(IRB)at Beijing Tiantan Hospital.
