Perspectives of high-risk pregnant women on home care program in high-risk pregnancies: A multicenter, qualitative study

Objective:To explore the perspectives of high-risk pregnant women regarding the home care program for high-risk ***:This qualitative study was conducted in a university hospital and 5 comprehensive health centers in Ahvaz,Iran,from February 2023 to July *** sampling method used was purposive sampling considering the maximum possible diversity,which continued until data saturation.11 in-depth and semistructured interviews were conducted with high-risk pregnant *** were simultaneously analysed using Graneheim and Lundman content analysis by MAXQDA version 20 ***:Data analysis extracted 3 themes,12 categories,and 26 *** themes and categories were“high-risk pregnancy and related issues(pursuing treatment and paying attention to the high-risk situation by pregnant women,psychological aspect of high-risk pregnancy on pregnant women and caregivers,emotional and physical aspects of high-risk pregnancy,the consequences of high-risk pregnancy on the people around them and empowerment of high-risk pregnant women)”,“support dimension(family and community support for high-risk pregnant women)”,and“framework of program(acculturalization,means and equipment,security,manpower and the necessary arrangements for the home care)”.Conclusions:High-risk pregnancy affects various aspects of the lives of high-risk pregnant women and their *** the necessary conditions for providing care at home plays a vital role in supporting high-risk pregnant women and removing related obstacles to receiving prenatal care in *** will be especially beneficial for high-risk pregnant women in low-income areas.

A Computer program for Automatic Watering Based on Potential Evapotranspiration by Penman Method and Predicted Leaf Area in Miniature Pot Rose Production

In this study, we developed a computer program for automatic prediction of watering time point by considering the environmental factors such as solar radiation, air temperature and relative humidity based on the multiple linear regression equation of leaf area and Penman Method. The experiments were carried out for a year in two watering experimental plots, one of which was controlled by pF value, and the other by the computer program. After comparing the results of the two plots, the following findings were obtained. In the computer program plot, the observed and predicted values of both leaf area and evapotranspiration indicated significant correlation at the 1% level, which suggested that the computer program had high prediction accuracy. In addition, no significant difference was observed between the two experimental plots with respects to the plant height, plant diameter, leaf area, leaf number, fresh weight, and dry weight, which demonstrated that the plants in the computer program plot had normal growth. On the other hand, although the number of flower buds and flowering shoots showed higher values at the end of certain cultivations in the computer program plot than those in pF value plot, we proposed that it was due to the effect of cumulative daily solar radiation in the greenhouse, rather than the watering. Thus, we have reached the conclusion that the computer program for automatic prediction of watering time point developed by this study has high applicability in miniature pot rose production.

Coupling between the Grain for Green program and a household level-based agricultural eco-economic system in Ansai,Shaanxi Province of China

The implementation of the Grain for Green program(GGP)has changed the development track of the agricultural eco-economic system in *** response to the results of a lag study that investigated the coupling between the GGP and the agricultural eco-economic system in a loess hilly region,we used a structural equation model to analyze the survey data from 494 households in Ansai,a district of Yan’an City in Shaanxi Province of China in *** model clarified the direction and intensity of the coupling between the GGP and the agricultural eco-economic *** coupling benefits were derived through linkages between the program and various chains in the agricultural eco-economic *** GGP,the agroecosystem of Ansai and their potential coupling effects were in a state of general *** agroecosystem directly affected the coupling effect,with the standardized path coefficient of 0.87,indicating that the agroecosystem in Ansai at this stage provided basic material support for the coupling between the GGP and the agricultural eco-economic *** direct path coefficient of agroeconomic system impacted on the coupling effect was-0.76,indicating that partial contradictions occurred between the agroeconomic system and the coupling ***,although the current agroecosystem in Ansai should be provided sufficient agroecological resources for the benign coupling between the program and the agricultural eco-economic system,agricultural development failed to effectively transform agroecological resources into agricultural economic advantages in this region,which resulted in a relative lag in the development of the agricultural economic ***,the coupling between the GGP and the agricultural eco-economic system was *** improve the coupling and the sustainable development of the agricultural eco-economic system in cropland retirement areas,the industrial structure needs to be diversified,the agricultural resources(including agroecological r

QUANTITATIVE RELATION BETWEEN MODIFICATION OF FUNCTIONAL GROUPS OF PROTEINS AND THEIR BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY——A COMPUTER program FOR ASCERTAINING THE NUMBER OF ESSENTIAL RESIDUES

Based on a statistical treatment of the quantitative relation between the extents of mod-ification of protein functional groups and the decrease of their biological activity, a meth-od was proposed (Tsou, Sci. Sin., 1962, 11:1535) and widely used for the determination ofthe number of residues essential for the biological activity ot the protein modified. How-ever, the original method depends on a trial and error approach and manual calculation tofind the best fit for the data obtained. A computer program is described in this paper forthe treatment of experimental data to produce the number of essential and non-essentialgroups modified and the ratio of rates for their modification which best fit the data ob-tained. Applications of this method show that in some cases wrong conclusions were reachedin literature and in other cases quantitative conclusions can sometimes be drawn when orig-inally either no quantitative data treatment was presented or attempts at manual curve fit-ting were unsuccessful.

Anti program death-1/anti program death-ligand 1 in digestive cancers

Human tumors tend to activate the immune system regulatory checkpoints as a means of escaping immunosurveillance. For instance, interaction between program death-1(PD-1) and program death-ligand 1(PD-L1) will lead the activated T cell to a state of anergy. PD-L1 is upregulated on a wide range of cancer cells. Anti-PD-1 and anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibodies(m Abs), called immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs), have consequently been designed to restore T cell activity. Accumulating data are in favor of an association between PD-L1 expression in tumors and response to treatment. A PD-L1 expression is present in 30% to 50% of digestive cancers. Multiple anti-PD-1(nivolumab, pembrolizumab) and anti-PD-L1 m Abs(MPDL3280A, Medi4736) are under evaluation in digestive cancers. Preliminary results in metastatic gastric cancer with pembrolizumab are highly promising and phase Ⅱ will start soon. In metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC), a phase Ⅲ trial of MPDL3280 A as maintenance therapy will shortly be initiated. Trials are also ongoing in metastatic CRC with high immune T cell infiltration(i.e., microsatellite instability). Major challenges are ahead in order to determine how, when and for which patients we should use these ICIs. New radiologic criteria to evaluate tumor response to ICIs are awaiting prospective validation. The optimal therapeutic sequence and association with cytotoxic chemotherapy needs to be established. Finally, biomarker identification will be crucial to selection ofpatients likely to benefit from ICIs.

The year of 2018 marks the 65th anniversary of the discovery of DNA double helix and the 15th anniversary of the successful completion of the international Human Genome Project (HGP),the two revolutions in life sciences (Sharp, 2014). The year also sees the effective implementation of the "1%program", the Chinese contribution to the reference sequence of the human genome,which coincides with the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Genetics Society of China, one of the most influential national academic organizations in China.

Introducing an antibiotic stewardship program in a pediatric center in China

Background This study aimed to investigate the eff ect of antibiotic stewardship programs (ASP) on reducing antimicrobial resistance rate, antibiotics consumption and multi-drug resistance bacterial infections in the pediatric patients. Methods This study was carried out in the Pediatric Center of a tertiary hospital of Shandong Province, China. The study duration was separated into two periods according to introduction of ASP (began from April 2011). Before intervention: from April 2009 to March 2011;after intervention: from April 2012 to March 2014. The consumption of antibiotics, defi ned daily dose (DDD), isolation of multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO) and resistance rate of antibiotics were analyzed and compared between the two study periods. Results Total antibiotics consumption (DDDs) reduced from 56,725 in 2011 to 31,380 in 2014;antibiotic use density (AUD) reduced from 93.8 to 43.5;mean (± SD) antibiotic costs per patient (per quarter) decreased from 637 (± 29) RMB to 462 (± 49) RMB;and the mean total drug consumption (g)/DDD (DDDs) for inpatients decreased from 90.4 (± 3.3) to 56.4 (± 9.5). Multidrug-resistant microorganisms isolation reduced signifi cantly from 463 (20.0) to 216 (6.9%). Resistance rate of general spectrum antibiotics reduced remarkably after intervention. The proportion of patients colonized or infected with Carbapenems-resistantAcinetobacter baumannii was correlated with DDDs of carbapenem. Conclusions Implementation of ASP leads to reduced medical expense, decrease of improper and abuse of antibiotics, and reduced antibiotics resistance rate and MDRO isolation. Continuous eff orts to improve antibiotic use are required.
