In this paper, we propose and analyze a mathematical model to study the dynamics of a fishery resource system with stage structure in an aquatic environment that consists of two zones namely unreserved zone (fishing permitted) and reserved zone (fishing is strictly prohibited). In this model we introduce a stage structure in which predators are split into two kinds as immature predators and mature predators. It is assumed that immature predators cannot catch the prey and their foods are given by their parents (mature predators). It is also assumed that the fishing of immature predators prohibited in the unreserved zone and predator species are not allowed to enter inside the reserved zone. The local and global stability analysis has been specified. Biological and Bionomical equilibriums of the system are derived. Mathematical formulation of the optimal harvesting policy is given and its solution is derived in the equilibrium case by using Pontryagin’s maximum principle.

A nonautonomous modified Leslie-Gower predator-prey model with non- monotonic functional response and a prey refuge is proposed and studied in this paper. Sufficient conditions which guarantee the permanence, extinction of the prey species and the global stability of the system are obtained, respectively. Also, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov function, some sufficient conditions are obtained for the existence of a unique globally attractive positive almost periodic solution of this model. Our results indicate that the prey refuge has positive effect on the coexistence of the species. Examples together with their numeric simulation show the feasibility of our main results.

Camel crickets (Orthoptera: Rhaphidophoridae) are a group of wingless and humpbacked Orthopteran insects. They are closed relatives to katydids and crickets;they were called spider crickets somewhere because of their long legs. Camel cricket plays an important role in the food web in various ecosystems. In the forest ecosystem, they live in the ground level of forestry under litters and fallen leaves, and some of them live beneath the log and hid themselves under loosen tree barks. They feed on decomposing organic substances and serve as decomposers in the food chain. It is a very common insect prey to insectivorous animals in natural and artificial vegetation. Guandaushi (GDS) is the experimental forest station of National Chung Hsing University, as the study site of long term ecological research (LTER) in Taiwan. And the camel cricket became an important subject and a dominant insect group in the LTER studies. They are the major parts of the insect preys of vertebrates, especially to the insectivorous mammals. According to our previous publication, 32.2% of the insect preys of Mustela sibirica Pallas are camel crickets in GDS forest ecosystem. There were 5 morpho-species of camel crickets by the characters of antennal epicuticular characters. The camel cricket was collected from various ways according to the LTER study during 1995-1998. The morphology of antennal epicuticular structure from totally 60 individuals was observed by using SEM. The epicuticular sculpture was described and classified into Type I and Type II by the SEM photographs. Type I has 8 patterns and Type II has 5 patterns in this study. The illustration and the pictorial key were provided here as the tool for further application. The morpho-species could not be identified due to the remainder being fragmented while examined. The current study investigates the predator-prey problem with assumptions that interaction of predation has a little or no effect on prey population growth and the prey’s grow rate is time dependent. The prey is assumed to follow the Gompertz growth model and the respective predator growth function is constructed by solving ordinary differential equations. The results show that the predator population model is found to be a function of the well known exponential integral function. The solution is also given in Taylor’s series. Simulation study shows that the predator population size eventually converges either to a finite positive limit or zero or diverges to positive infinity. Under certain conditions, the predator population converges to the asymptotic limit of the prey model. More results are included in the paper.

This paper is devoted to study the problem of stability, chaos behavior and parameters estimation of the habitat destruction model with three-species (prey, predator and top-predator). The mathematical formula of the model and its proposed interactions are presented. Some important special solutions of systems are discussed. The stationary states of the model are derived. Local stability conditions for the stationary states are derived. Furthermore, the chaotic behavior of the model is discussed and presented graphically. Using Liapunov stability technique, the dynamic estimators of the unknown probabilities and their updating rules are derived. It is found that, the control laws are non-linear functions of the species densities. Numerical illustrative examples are carried out and presented graphically.

Background:Habitat loss and fragmentation in the Sierra Madre Oriental(SMO)ecological corridor have negative impacts on the movement and distribution of mammalian species that are of great ecological and evolutionary *** of the SMO ecological corridor that is located in the state of Hidalgo is less studied despite being a potential dispersal route for *** objectives of this study were to evaluate the presence and activity of terrestrial mammals in the riparian and non‑riparian zones of ***:Camera traps detected 15 mammalian species(i.e.,14 native and 1 domestic)in the non‑riparian zone,and 12 mammalian species in the riparian zone(i.e.,10 wild and 2 domestic).The riparian corridor was mainly used by opportunistic medium‑sized carnivores,while large carnivores and their potential prey were more frequent in the non‑riparian ***:Our findings suggest terrestrial mammals avoid the use of natural corridors due to the presence of domestic dogs,cattle and humans and look for new dispersal routes to move through their habitat and find the resources they need to *** though some species can use disturbed corridors to move and find resources,they will change their activity patterns to avoid contact with humans and potential threats like *** is,therefore,crucial to identify not one,but several corridors that must be preserved to improve the connectivity of terrestrial mammals in disturbed landscapes.

Reconstructing landscapes of ungulate parturition and predation using vegetation phenology

Enhanced vegetation index(EVI)data can be used to identify and define the space in which ungulates practice parturition and encounter *** study explores the use of EVI data to identify landscapes linked to ungulate parturition and predation events across space,time,and environmental *** a case study,we used the moose population(Alces alces)of northern Minnesota in the *** remotely sensed EVI data rasters and global positioning system collar data,we quantified how vegetation phenology and moose movement shaped the births and predation of 52 moose calves from 2013 to 2020 on or adjacent to the Grand Portage Indian *** known sources of predation were American black bears(Ursus americanus,n=22)and gray wolves(Canis lupus,n=28).Satellite-derived data summarizing seasonal landscape features at the local level revealed that landscape heterogeneity use by moose can help to quantitatively identify landscapes of parturition and predation in space and time across large *** phenology proved to be differentiable between adult moose ranges,sites of cow parturition,and sites of calf *** characteristics of each moose group were consistent and tractable based on environment,suggesting that sites of parturition and predation of moose are predictable in space and *** is possible that moose selected specific landscapes for parturition despite risk of increased predation of their calves,which could be an example of an"ecological trap."This analytical framework can be employed to identify areas for future ungulate research on the impacts of landscape on parturition and predation dynamics.
